Dear readers, I want you to activate the WAOD prayer circles because on tommorrow, this blog will be joining the National Day of Prayer for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. We don't post on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so we are going to have to activate the WAOD prayer, chanting and meditation circles a day early, but that's okay because Kwame Kilpatrick needs all of the prayer and chanting that he can get.
For those of you who do not hang out with your fellow readers in the WAOD Network, Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to prison after he failed to comply with the terms of his probation. He is currently sitting in a secluded air conditioned cell with a private shower, basically a Motel 6. In light of the serious injustice of sending a noncompliant probationer who lies and attempts to deceive the courts to jail, Kwame Kilpatrick's supporters are holding a National Day of Prayer in honor of Mr. Kilpatrick's 40th Birthday.
Kwame Kilpatrick will spend his 40th birthday on Tuesday in prison. But supporters still plan to celebrate the milestone with a prayer rally in Detroit.The National Prayer Rally, announced on theWeb site, is to feature appearances by the Rev. I know that many of you have other pressing matters during this age of an oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico,massive unemployment, rising foreclosures etcetera etcetera etcetera, however, I need y'all to pause so that we can all touch and agree that the Universe will lay hands on Mr. Kilpatrick and ....smack some sense into him and every other ignorant soul that is playing part in the stream of circus like activity emanating from the once great city of Detroit.
I am so sick of people who treat God like a personal "Feel Good" ATM. God never promised that life would be easy and that we would be able to escape every trial if we managed to gather a large enough group of vocal supporters.
Jonah had to hang out in the belly of the whale. Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego had to hang out in the fiery furnace. Daniel-Lion's Den. Moses- Midian. Jesus-Wilderness.Saul- Damascus Road. Martin Luther King... went to jail. Are you seeing a pattern here? Some of the greatest ministry every performed was done while people were imprisoned.

He had a cell phone glued to his ear. Talking to no one in particular. I had my breakfast meeting hung out and chilled and he still was in the same place. This was a place people hung out who wanted to be seen. He wanted to be seen. This man was delusional. The normal, rational response to embarrassing your wife, your kids, your city, your mama, your lover etcetera etcetera would be shame. Head hanging, hiding out in a dark cave shame.

If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values - that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has spiritual control. Where are Kwame's morals?

This is not a joke, these loons actually are so delusional that they are organizing a "National" Day of Prayer for a former Mayor. I guess a "City-wide" day of prayer was beneath them.
On tomorrow I shall be praying that the Spirit of Discernment will descend upon the entire city of Detroit and start handing out some CLUES! It is clear to me that the only place Kwame Kilpatrick will ever have an opportunity to mature and grow may be prison. Until he is left alone and away from his enablers, he is at risk of remaining a manchild.

Christine Beatty might have been scandalous, but at least she had the self awareness to show some contrition and made an attempt at retribution. :

Christine Beatty, chief of staff for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, pleaded guilty Monday to charges stemming from their text-messaging sex scandal case and will serve four months in jail, according to the Wayne County prosecutor's office.... Beatty pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice, according to Maria Miller, the prosecutor's spokeswoman. Charges of perjury and misconduct against Beatty will be dropped as part of the plea arrangement, she said.
Beatty agreed to a plea arrangement under which she will serve five years probation -- the first 120 days to be served in jail -- and pay a $100,000 fine, "based on [Beatty's] ability to pay," Miller said. CNN.com
You can watch video of Christine admitting her guilt in court over at the Detroit Free Press. She's the first person in the whole ordeal that acted as if they had a lick of sense and had the decency to cry. I don't know why she cried, I hope its because she realizes how wrong she was in ending the careers of two police officers in order to cover up a relationship that didn't mean a dadgum thing to Kwame Kilpatrick.
Her display of emotion give me some hope that she can be redeemed, unlike a certain former mayor of Detroit who appears to be a sociopath incapable of believing he can do wrong.

During her four month prison sentence, her daughters ( who have a DADDY) will be taken care of by a "network" of family and friends:

I really don't have anything to say. The man is in jail. I don't believe in kicking folks while they are down and it doesn't get more down than being locked up. First there was Carlita, then Christine, now add Carolyn to the list of Black women who've been singed by the uncontrollable lustful urges of Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick.
Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, a seven-term incumbent, found herself fighting for her political life. Why? Because of the uncontrollable lustful desires of her fully grown son:
Early results Tuesday showed the six-term congresswoman trailing both her opponents, but as the night wore on and more Detroit numbers came in, she pulled even and then slightly ahead of former state Rep. Mary Waters at around midnight.
With all precincts reporting, Kilpatrick had 20,888 votes, or 39.1% and Waters had 19,183 votes, or 36%. State Sen. Martha Scott was in third place with 13,280 votes, or 24.9%, according to the Associated Press. FREEP
In a three way race yesterday, she won by 1,700 votes in a race that should not have even been close for a seven term incumbent. Mama K had over a half a million dollars, her closest challenger had $10,000 and if this had not been a three way race, it would have been lights out.
I had an occasion to meet Mama Kilpatrick at an event I was asked to speak at. It was an event with a bunch of rich Black women, many of whom were not all that warm and cuddly towards the fire breathing blogtavist, but Mama Kilpatrick was one of the nicest people I met that weekend. No strike that, she was the nicest. And no, it wasn't the politician thing because I sat at a table with another Black Congresswoman and she wasn't warm and fuzzy at all. AT. ALL. If it wasn't for enabling her fully grown son and his massive lapses in ethical behavior and judgement, I really don't have a bad thing to say about the woman. I don't live in her district.
So far Kwame has taken out Christine Beatty. Now his Mama barely holds on to her job, and yet he still keeps his job despite new allegations that he shoved sheriff's deputies who were attempting to serve a subpoena on one of his friends.
Jim Thomas, the mayor’s lawyer, said Kilpatrick merely told a process server that Ferguson was not there and asked him to leave.“He gently took him by the arm and escorted him off the porch,” Thomas said, adding that Ayanna is married to Ferguson’s cousin, Daniel Ferguson.Thomas said he did not know why Kilpatrick did not ask his police bodyguards, who were with him, to handle the matter. In WHAT world do you lay hands on a uniformed peace officer and escort them anywhere? Somebody reminded me that both Kwame Kilpatrick and Barack Obama gave speeches at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Wow how quickly their paths diverged.
Ladies remember this, don't sacrifice your marriage, your life, or your career for an untrustworthy, undisciplined man or you will end up like all of the women in Kwame Kilpatick's life--- Left OUT THERE while he is chillaxin in the Mayor's mansion.
I know about a Mother's love and whatnot, the fact that no matter what you do in life, you'll always have your Mama, but part of being a parent is letting your kids go through the fire on their own. At a certain point, its not your job to keep us from getting burned, only to help bandage a few wounds. So that's how y'all roll Detroit? Fuddruckers on East Jefferson is the spot. What? Y'all didn't have any hotel ballrooms available? Did she at least pick up the fries?
