RUMOR CONTROL: Roland Martin says Jeremiah Wright NOT Publishing a Book In October

This morning's post about a rumor that Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's former pastor is  releasing a book in October ended with the following questions: So what have y’all heard? Is this truth or fiction? Read that again THREE TIMES! The fact that I ASKED is this truth or fiction would indicate that i was not reporting it as gospel truth, just asking my well-read readers to give me the 411. Enter the Jeremiah Wright Acolytes that went apoplectic because I asked whether a story posted in New York Magazine and on a massively larger blog was true or false. My response to all the Jeremiah Wright Acolytes is this: IF I AIN'T SCARED OF OBAMA ACOLYTES, I WON'T BE COWED BY YOU EITHER! So you can talk to the hand because I am not even listening to your foolishness because clearly you cant read for comprehension. The title of the post was "Rumor Control" the easiest way to control a rumor is to state definitively that it ain't true. Revolutionary, I know, but highly effective. I left home this morning with a question and by the end of the day, that question was answered. Here is what Roland Martin had to say on his ESSENCE.com blog:

A New York magazine cover story last week reignited the debate over Rev. Jeremiah Wright when it stated - without attribution - that the former pastor of Sen. Barack Obama was releasing a new book. But his daughter, Jeri, told me today that the story is absolutely false. "The only book we're working on is the history of Trinity (United Church of Christ) and I haven't even started editing that," Wright told Essence.com. After I reached out to her, she called her father, who is teaching and ministering in Ghana (I ran into him last month when I was in the West African nation) and said he "laughed" when she asked about the book. "He said that he also got an email, but was unable to respond since he's in email hell," Wright said, meaning in a place in Ghana where it's difficult to send and receive email. "I asked him if he was writing and he said, 'Nope. I'm not publishing anything. I'm not going on any book tours.'" Roland Martin on Essence.com
So the rumor is fiction. Now I am going to sleep. Y'allz foolishness has given me an actual headache. PS. All you WRIGHT ACOLYTES who sent emails might want to speak to his "online publicist" after reading my post, she offered to send me one of his earlier books to review so that i can compare it with his book coming out this October. BWHAHAHA.

RUMOR CONTROL: Pastor Wright's "October Surprise"?

I try to stay out of politics on this blog... okay well blatantly political posts having no relation whatsoever to Michelle Obama, however, I was doing my early morning Google News search for "black women" and ran across this article from GAWKER highlighting this tidbit that I admit I missed:

"In October, Obama’s former pastor, [Rev. Jeremiah] Wright, will publish a new book and hit the road to promote it, an occasion that might well place the topic of Obama’s blackness (along with his patriotism and his candor about what he heard in the pews in all those years at Trinity Church) squarely at the center of the national debate." NY Mag
Now Obama's campaign has like a three-month warning so they shouldn't be caught flat footed on this one. If they need help on how to handle Pastor Wright, then this might be the time so take the Clintons out to dinner or something so that they can school you on how to deal with surrogates who might weigh you down. Ask Lani Guiner and Joycelyn Elders the proper swimming technique for being thrown over the side of a boat. The reason this post popped up in my "Black women" serach is because of this quote from Wright:
Many of us are committed to changing how we see others who are different... Many of us are committed to changing, number three, the way we treat each other. The way black men treat black women. The way black parents treat black children. The way black youth treat black elders and the way black elders treat black youth... GAWKER
So what have y'all heard? Is this truth or fiction? What Will the Acolytes do if this is true? UPDATE: This rumor appears to be false.
