ESSENCE Magazine Wants You To Know...It's the Bloggers' Fault!

That they only want to collect page clicks from Evelyn Lozada on the down low. So they tried a cheap tactic of putting Evelyn Lozada on the front page of their website to draw traffic, but don't want to be publically associated with her WTH? Their words not mine:

Ladies, to clarify: Evelyn Lozada is not on the cover of ESSENCE magazine and ESSENCE did not shoot her. We were simply sharing photos from a private shoot that international styling house November Lily did with Ms. Lozada privately. This is not a cover, nor a feature in the magazine. That news was poorly-reported by multiple blog sites. Thank you. Charli Penn

Well I guess she told y'all.

They are so clueless. Bless their hearts. When in hot water, blame the bloggers. For the record, Evelyn was featured prominently on the FRONT PAGE of ESSENCE.com until they caugh Hell and now they are backtracking. Read MY original post. I clearly state they are "promoting a bridal shoot featuring Evelyn Lozada."

Did I mention that Evelyn is also part of ESSENCE's "Empowerment Experience"?

Ugh that empowerment panel listing was a caucophony of fail. Im sick of these people perpetrating against me while pretending they are riding for me.

Blaming the Bloggers, I guess thats the new "My Twitter Got Hacked", isnt going to help them any. She was featured on the site and still is so there is absolutely no running away from that.

I think they are trying to change the format slowly by first featuring Mixed Race and Latina women only. Then when everyone is used to that, they will make the final migration as another magazine that glorifies and features white women only. The articles inside already preach the lie that Black women arent much, soon the pictures will match the content.

Although I know that particular panel with Evelyn Lozada is full of reality tv TRASH it would be interesting to hear how they defend their images and negative portrayals of black women all in the name of a mighty dollar.

I wonder if someone will be able to take them to task for their negative portrayals of black women. They won't be able to hide behind the fake tv cameras and it would be very interesting to see how they handle themselves in front of an audience of black women with serious concerns and questions.

@Mickey, if what you say is true, Essence needs to hang it up now. I will never support anything they do or ever do. I will encourage all of my friends and family to have nothing to do with the magazine or festival. It's a darn disgrace that the powers that be at the magazine are so stupid.

There's nothing stopping any reader of MESSENCE to move on! Stop buying it and reading it. Put your money into projects that support and elevate black women instead of circling a co-dependent dysfunctional relationship. MESSENCE has proven how much they despise black women time and time again. It's insanity to keep going back expecting something different.

Ummm, who's Evelyn Lozada? I'm scared to Google this. Still glad that I divorced myself from all foolishness though.

Ah, okay. I just scrolled down and read the previous WAOD article on Ms. Lozada. My innocence is now ruined, LOL. I guess I'm not missing anything from refusing to watch those reality shows. As for Essence: same old crap: no surprise there.

Evelyn is an embarrassment to all grown women, and most especially to black and latina women. I thought people stopped physically fighting at age...18? Why is this grown woman always throwing punches, always getting into it with someone- isn't it tiring? At first I didn't like Tammy because she was always getting into it with someone- but it seems like she's pretty cool when she's sober smh. Evelyn on the other hand is not even that cute. I find myself dismissing her all the time. Anyway, I read your original post and it's hilarious. Check out my new blog- lifeofablackgirl.wordpress.com- talks about any and everything about my life and my opinion on history, current events, pop cultures, etc. Just started it!
