And Susan Taylor Wept- mESSENCE magazine Taps Hyper-Violent Belligerent, Evelyn Lozada for a Wedding Shoot

BWAHA! Because some things just write themselves- I wanted to point out the latest example in cognitive dissonance from the ESSENCE magazine brain trust. ESSENCE.com is promoting a "bridal" photo shoot of Evelyn Lozada.

File this in the category with the Kim Porter -Sean Combs - Reggie Bush  "Black Love" covers. Ms. Lozada is a character on the show, Basketball Wives. Her current storyline is that she is engaged to Chad "OchoCinco" Johnson.  To say Ms. Lozada is a hyperviolent, Black woman hating, foul mouthed scourge would not quite capture her true essence. Add to that, the man she's engaged to has publically stated that he has a preference for non-Black women, then you see the logic in highlighting Ms. Lozada on a website whose tag line is "Where Black women come first." Makes total sense!

Never mind that the entire wedding is a fiction concocted by Ms Lozada and her publicity hungry fiance. Never mind that this woman is just a VILE human being - but she was the only woman of color getting married? And let's not forget  Ocho Cinco publically stating he wasn't interested in dating any women who subscribe to ESSENCE magazine

Yes, all of his "Baby Mamas" are Black- He'll impregnante you, but he ain't putting a ring on it.

Many of you will not know who Evelyn Lozada is because you don't watch sewer entertainment. Here is some video of Ms Lozada on her TV show.

Yes, young Black girls, you too can aspire to be on national television screaming about punching people in their $#(*%#&)* face.  Yes you too can aspire to throw wine bottles at people! Yes, this woman hopped across a table to "fight."

So those of you who were wondering if Constance White was going to take ESSENCE in a new direction, the answer is YES!

This is like a diabetes magazine doing a photo shoot of Krispey Kreme donuts. As one commenter on the WAOD Facebook Page pointed out:

Next thing you know Drita from MobWives will be on the cover...

I am unfamiliar with this Drita person. Does Drita refer to Black people as N#^&$%? Evelyn does. Does Drita attack Black women's physical appearance? Evelyn does. Is Drita "engaged" to a Black man that has no problem impregnating Black women, but won't date or marry them? Evelyn is. Does Drita repeatedly physically assault Black women? Evelyn does. This Drita person might be an improvement over Evelyn.

I guess Kim Porter was busy.

I think that Lozado gets away with certain things due to being Afro-Latino and therefore viewed as being black.

mEssence is a caucophony of fail. Its only 10 pages of content these days and the rest are ads anyway. mEssence is in the business of telling Black women they are not good enough. The stories in there are assinine and juvenile.

Anyone who still subscribes needs to cancel their subscription immediately. But then again the women who still subscribe believe the crap they are reading.

I'm on the higher end of intelligent, so I dont understand the appeal of these type of shows...

I'm sorry, please enlighten me if I'm wrong because I'm really not trying to be obtuse or cause problems. But isn't Evelyn Lozada Black??

I always thought she was - did I miss something? Which really makes it even worse that she is the way she is - a walking negative stereotype. ** face palm ** The worst part is that Essence or as you so appropriately cal lit mEssence) is taking the route of these garbage Realty TV shows that do nothing for Black women except showoff the worst of us.

Besides, Ochocinco and Lozado won't be married long - two messes like that would only cause problems for each other, and are i n it only for the attention and 15 minutes of fame.

February 22, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHey There!

According to Wikipedia: Lozada was born in Brooklyn to Puerto Rican parents and raised in The Bronx solely by her mother.

No matter is she's Afro-Latino, Latina or Black...she is still a hot old mess...and because she chooses to date Black men and fight and insult and taunt Black women...she's probably seen as a Black woman...not necessarily a Latina.

So glad I do not look at reality tv.

@ Hey There, is she Black? I doubt that Ocho would want to marry her if either he or she believed she was.

FIrst Lozada doesn't "hate" black women

Also I'm pretty sure she's Afo-Latina - Puerto-Ricans often come pretty negroid.

But other than that...ok....

Issue is not her race but the fact that it seems more and more of the entertainment aimed at African-Americans is sinking to the lowest common denominator or is just thrown together or panders to white notions of who we are (the whole inclusion of the white love interest in Red Tails while leaving the many many black wives and girlfriends these men had out).

Why this loud mouthed ghetto faux celebrity? There are other famous AA women or Afro-Latina women or whatever slated to get married this year...Halle, Aretha, broadway star Audra McDonald. Lebron James is set to marry his high school sweetheart and children's mother. And I found these on just a quick web search.

It's llike they went out of their way to find the worst representation of an African (American/Latino) bride. It's like they are saying oh well this is who these black chicks really are, this is the type of person they admire, this is the best their community has to offer. And we get this over and over and over again.

I'm not understanding why people are saying Lozada hates Black women based on the Basketball Wives - ALL the women on the Basketball Wives are always getting into fights with each other. OK, now, this is just silly. Lozada is a Black Puerto Rican woman and the other wives re Black American women. And all of them get into catty fights - so why not call them allout as the fools they are, instead of just Lozada? Having a Latin surname doesn't make you any less Black/African descended. None of us have African names - we have European names mostly - but we all consider ourselves Black/African descended. The Latin Blacks got to Latin America the same way U.S. Blacks got here - through the triangular slave trade.

Lozada is a just an ignorant Black woman from Latin America, and the other wives are ignorant Black women from North America/U.S. Waht's the difference? OCho-whatever-o could have married any one of them and it would be no different - an ignorant Black man married to an ignorant Black woman.

Whether she's Latino, Hispanic, Puerto Rican, Afro-Latino, Black or some combination thereof, one thing is for certain--she's is one ignorant, low-life person. I don't know why anyone would publicly want to admit that they were going to marry her. How embarrassing! I have not read Essence in a long time--they used to have good article about hair and makeup--I guess I won't be picking up one anytime soon.

Wow! Go read comment number 16, Essence bleeped out the 'a s s' in the word associated. What are those, standards, MESSence?

What ever gets you through the day AJ. LOL!

What Evelyn does is use the Afro side when it is convinent and beneficial to her wallet. At the end of the day if Evelyn had to choose a side, I'm sure she's walking around speaking spanish and representing Puerto Rico all day long. Essence is running on desperation mode. If their mass audience is indulging in this muck they must stick to the masses, anything foreiegn introduced to the BW readership would be career suicide.

Liars will be liars. The delusional will remain delusional. So be it.

Evelyn Lozada does hate black women and so does the trash she's with.

Evelyn Lozada is NOT black or Afro-Anything because if she was the trash she is with wouldn't be with her.

Evelyn has specifically stated that the children she will have, with the dumb ass dark negro she is with, will be beautiful because of how SHE looks. She has told Chad about his "black ass" self before.
(thanks for the links twitter fam *wink* u know who u are and I know you're reading)

Sidenote:Gina I had no idea you had so many readers. Not because I thought you were incapable of anything, but just cause I felt we were such a small minority in our beliefs around here.
Apparently a lot of black folks see what we see and are tired also.*I had no idea*

I have always said and continue to say that Evelyn is a bully. She is the girl on the playground that riles everyone up with her obnoxious behavior and immoral attitude. It;s disgraceful! Who else would imply sleeping with someone after you get shoes. That is what she did with Chad for those of you who have never seen the show. Yet, she is being rewarded for hger awful behavior. Disgusting. Yes, Drita is her equal, except that Drita honors her marriage.
