One 11-year-old Girl vs 20 Men and Boys ... AND its HER Fault?- Cleveland, TX's SHAME!

Several of you have emailed me about this. I read about this case a while back but have been waiting on the DA to speak about it in detail publicly. I'm just going to throw a BLANKET "ALLEGED" all over this post. Nobody has been convicted of anything. These are allegations, but the responses to the allegations from the men and women of Cleveland deserve our public derision and scorn. If the citizens are embarrassed, their embarrassment is WELL DESERVED when a LARGE percentage of your male population engaged in group sex acts with an 11 year old girl.... Thanksgiving Week and you decide to blame the 11 year old!

**Much has been made of the age of the girl involved, the implication is that the alleged rape is wrong solely because of her age. If the alleged victim of 22 or 102, the way these men allegedly violated her would STILL BE WRONG***

Now before y'all go to level 10 in the comments, need I remind you that the details of the case haven't been released, only the bare minimum needed to get the warrants, that means that the facts of the case are likely even MORE HORRIFIC than what we suspect... in other words, PACE YOURSELVES AND BRACE YOURSELVES!

Roll Tape!

New Developments in Cleveland Gang Rape Case: MyFoxHOUSTON.com

An 11 year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by up to 27 men and boys in Cleveland, TX. The Houston Chronicle has all of the details:

The assaults happened Nov. 28 after a 19-year-old with prior drug convictions persuaded the young girl to leave her house and go "riding around" with him and two other young men, according to a Cleveland police officer's sworn statement.

They first went to the blue house, where she was ordered to disrobe. If she refused, the statement said, she was warned other girls would beat her up and she would never get a ride back home.

Soon she was having sex with multiple young men there, the statement said. Someone used a phone to invite four more men, who soon arrived.

Not long afterward, the group fled through a back window when they heard a relative of one of the teens arriving at the blue house. The 11-year-old left behind her bra and panties as the group moved to the nearby abandoned trailer, where the assaults continued. As the men had sex with the girl, others used their cell phones to take photographs and video, police said. Chron

They must have gotten that whole "let's videotape our criminal activity" from the patron saint of statutory rapists (and their enablers), Genarlow Wilson

Although we don’t know the race of the victim, this case is eerily similar to a case out of Milwaukee where 20 men and boys from "the neighborhood" raped another 11 year-old girl while grown women in an adjacent room went about their daily business. When the last of the men was sentenced in the case, the neighborhood women lashed out... at the 11 year old girl. Remember this quote?

"Five years? Ten years? That's ridiculous," said LaToya Bell, 22, sitting on a porch with four others who nodded in agreement. "They (are) getting time for nothing. That girl, she knew what she was doing."
LaToya Bell, 22 speaking about the gang rape of an 11-year old by up to 20 men and boys.

Women in Cleveland are doing the same thing.

Some Cleveland residents, like Kisha Williams, are critical of the 11-year-old’s parents. “Where were they when this girl was seen wandering at all hours with no supervision and pretending to be much older?” she asked.Chron.com

Did I mention that this allegedly took place during Thanksgiving Week??? Why didn’t the women of Cleveland know where their sons, husbands, fathers, uncles, nephews and cousins were in and around THANKSGIVING?? I know where mine were!  Did I mention this was during the holidays??

As was the case in Milwaukee, the men are trying the LAME excuse that they were too STUPID to be able to differentiate an 11 year old girl from a grown woman... as if that's and excuse for abusing her in this way. As was the case in Milwaukee, the black women of Cleveland are leading the way by arguing that their men are childlike and foolish and an 11 year old "tricked" them into raping her in two separate locations. Notice I said TWO locaitons because the first time they abused her in a house, the various accused rapists allegedly dove out windows... yeah, those are the actions of people who are engaged in appropriate behavior

In addition to the Milwaukee case, there was a similar case involving an 11 year old girl in Eastpoint Michigan... again, the girl gets blamed while the men bear NO RESPONSIBILITY!

In June, five teenagers, ages 15 to 19, allegedly gang-raped an 11-year-old girl in Eastpointe, Mich. A portion of the incident was captured on a cell phone video. The suspects claim they did not know her age, police said.

Authorities said the girl was not physically threatened, but felt coerced and intimidated into complying.

"When you see five young men take advantage of an 11-year-old girl," Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith told The Detroit News, "it is our job to make sure they pay for it." AOL News

Let me respond to the “We Didn’t Know She Was Underage Crew”

Cleveland, TX has less than 9,000 residents. You KNOW who is in high school and middle school. These men would have either have had to conclude that

  1. the girl was underage and they did not care OR
  2. the girl was a developmentally disabled adult woman... and they did not care. OR
  3. the girl was underage AND developmentally disabled.... and they did not care.

In either case, if the allegations are true, everybody involved  has earned a very lengthy stay in jail. Same for the alleged rapists in Eastpoint and the CONVICTED rapists in Milwaukee.

Back to Cleveland:

So far, 17 [the number is now up to 28] suspects have been charged, ranging in age from a middle-schooler to a 27-year-old. Seven are high school students, including two members of Cleveland's state-ranked basketball team. Another is the 21-year-old son of a school board member. Several have prior criminal records for drug sales, aggravated robbery and manslaughter.

James D. Evans III, an attorney who represents three of the defendants, insists: "This is not a case of a child who was enslaved or taken advantage of." Chron.

Attorney Evans,  seriously?  She wasn’t taken advantage of? She was treated worse than a barnyard animal and isn’t even old enough to realize it... oh yeah and they made videos of it....

The case is horrible, but unlike Dunbar Village, local law enforcement and the criminal justice system appear to be SERIOUS about locking up every single solitary soul that had anything to do with this alleged barbarism.

We'll continue to monitor the situation...in doses, because the level of stupidity emanating from the women and men of Cleveland, Texas is noxious.

PREPARE YOURSELVES

We are also eagerly eyeing the city limits of nearby Houston, TX to make sure certain attention-seekers who've never met a camera they didn't want to thrust a placard in front of don't try to turn this into the next Jena Six. But yes, in a town of 9000, having upwards of 30 Black men sent to the CLANK is going to be attractive to whining about "The Man."... because THE MAN made you participate in a NASTY and VILE behavior that you KNEW was wrong and THE MAN made you take photos and pass them around the local high school. Yeah, its THE MAN's fault that you are stupid. but I'll save that for another post.

Again, read the round up of articles about the case and form your own opinions. Pace yourselves and brace yourselves... Unfortunately we've been here before.... and those are the cases we KNOW about.

What a coincidence that you wrote about this. On my way to work this morning, checked NY Times on my phone and sure enough, there was the article. Got to work and passed this along to my co-workers/colleagues, some family members & friends. So far, the response from my co-workers/colleagues is that the "these girls/women are FASS (fast)" attitude is absolutely disgusting, egregious, saddening, sickening, (insert other negative adjectives here). They also immediately picked up on the following:

“It’s just destroyed our community,” said Sheila Harrison, 48, a hospital worker who says she knows several of the defendants. “These boys have to live with this the rest of their lives.”

Because we all know that the 11 year old girl who was (allegedly) gang-raped will be alright by tomorrow. Right.

I really don't care about stupid BW who support criminal BM. What I care about is that the authorities take criminal activities seriously and do their best to get the criminals locked down in jail for a long, long time.

There will always be stupid BW who support "their men". There's nothing that can be done about that. I guess it's analogous to WW supporting racist WM back in the day.

There seems to be no bottom that a certain group of black people won't touch. More and more I simply DON'T want to be identified with them, mistaken for them, or near them.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDailyLattes

I read in The Root that the girl's family has come under threat. That's right: the girl's FAMILY!

So, I think it's clearly evident that 1)everybody in this small town knows each other and knows who the girl is and 2)the guys in town know how old this girl is, so they need to stop pretending that they didn't know she was "underage."

This situation is most alarming in the way more of these rapes are targeting "tween" girls. What's going on here? It reminds me of that documentary, "Very Young Girls," that show how pimps routinely stalk and target girls age 11 and 12 to turn them into prostitutes. The gang rape is their "initiation" rite. This is extremely disturbing that among a certain counter-cultural force (and please let's not brush the entire black community with this), this is becoming more and more prevalent.

As for the mother of the alleged rapist blaming the girl's "mother" (more than she's blaming the girl), she's basically saying that the heinous crime was okay, but the line is crossed because the girl was only 11, and her mother is to blame for not being around.

Now, here's the thing that most of us have not really touched on. The bottom line is: there are hundreds, thousands, millions of adult black women who have been raped and sexually assaulted, whose first sexual experience probably WAS a rape. So, as far as they're concerned, that's just "life," and in that view, the 11 year old should get used to "life" as they know it.

So, the internalized belief of "our bodies are for others to take, it's not important, let's protect our men because The Man is out to get them" sounds like a collective PTSD coping strategy. The problem is: this is self-destructive for black women, and if we as adults think it's okay for young black girls to be treated the same, that's a huge problem to try and solve.

I realize I'm being judgmental, but the woman who was interviewed in that Fox News clip LOOKS like a woman who's been routinely raped and assaulted. She's hardened enough to not care if it happens to an 11 year old girl too.

It's going to be hard to address the rampant sexual violence in our communities if everybody is in denial.

Anxious Black Woman: Nail ---> Head.

(Side note: if you haven't already, please watch Very Young Girls, as ABW mentioned in her comment. It just proves that the attacks on girls/women of color are REAL.)

What a terrible story. Thankfully the authorities appear to be on the ball with this. I would like to send a thank you on behalf of the entire country to the young person who actually reported this to the police when they received the video/pics on their phone, you are my hero and way better than some of the so called adults in your town.

As for the zombies they really don't deserve a response at this point. You will always have those type of people in society. No one wants to believe their son or their friend would commit such a crime. Its zombies who raise these type of kids most of the time.

What day? What hour? Was it that a child, an underage Black girl's supposed sexual desires trumped any and all moral and social responsibilities of an adult Black man? So she wanted it....well she also wants a trip to Disney World and pony...since you giving out stuff. When people look back on this time...and they see news footage of Black women supporting and excusing vile, sexually deviant behavior, they will understand how Black America ended up withering away. Truly too sick to survive as a collective.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChele Belle

Sad that weve heard this story before. The entire town is outraged. Oh, but not outraged that a child was assulted by 27 men but because to many of their town's young men have been arrested. Those poor men being forced to jump out of a window and take their criminal activity to a vacant trailor.

DailyLattes said "There seems to be no bottom that a certain group of black people won't touch. More and more I simply DON'T want to be identified with them, mistaken for them, or near them." I could not have said it better.

Sometimes I am embarrassed to be black when I hear stories like this and the pure ignorance going on with our people. I know that sound bad but it's the truth.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDROCK

Unfortunately, I feel that the majority of the BC has gone the way of white racists of old - where a white woman, even when robbed, raped, or violently victimized by another white man/woman, would go as far as to lie on a black man or woman just to protect white men and the racist status quo. A white woman who would speak out against such atrocities would be labeled as a "race traitor" and could suffer unspeakable consequences because of doing so.

This is now what has happened in the Black community.

I believe Black people, particularly Black women, have been trained to not speak out against Black criminals, particularly male criminals, for fear of being seen as "unsupportive" of Black men and the historic racism Black people faced in America. Black women are afraid of being labeled as someone who is against Black men and for whites only and being left alone by the few Black men they think they can still have. This is a scary and sad trend that has I believe started in the 70s and 80s when BM started to decide that they were the sole victims of the brutality of U.S.-style racism.

Now, Black women are like those old skool white women who would rather tolerate their own demise before speaking out against white criminals. Actually, many white women are like this to this day, but it's not something we need to emulate because at least white women still get the benefits of being valued in the U.S. We have nothing - most BM hate BW, white people hate BW (as is evident in the media blitz of the past few years, the Michelle Obama hatred, et.c, etc.) and and we are farrrrrrrrrrrrr from being valued in the U.S.

It's up to BW to change this because right now it's a seriously slippery slope. We are in trouble - we already are the only women in America who are openly hated by our own men, but we are also the most hated women in America period - even with a Black FLOTUS - We have ZERO protection and are in serious danger, moreso now in these times than ever before when BM are constantly being trained to hate, demonize, and eliminate BW through music videos, YouTube, Google searches, Television (name me one new show that has a BW with a BM, or even a BW at all on the show that's not a stereotype) and all other mediums.

To me, we have our own Taliban in the Black community - Black male criminals, brainwashed into believing the daily negatives put out about Black women by many evil White Americans (particularly in the MSM) that STILL hate us to this day, in alliance with those who would love to eliminate us all if they could.

Pardon my long post.

IS THE MOTHER OF ONE OF THE SUSPECTS SERIOUS? CHECK A WOMAN'S ID BEFORE YOU RAPE HER?

Oh my God . . . it's worse, much worse than I thought . . . .:(

WHY DIDN'T SHE KNOW WHERE HER SON WAS? DAM IDIOT!!! :(

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterrevmamaafrika

This is beyond disgusting, Blogmother. I know this has been discussed at length, but I think we really need to take a look at the pathologies of these "Lord of the Flies"-type boys who feel so entitled to take advantage of black women. Again, proof that our only hope for physical protection will most likely come from men outside of the race. Where is that whore, Al Sharpton? Why isn't he there railing against a community raising these beasts? That question is of course rhetorical.

By the by, if it is a small town and everyone knows er'rybody, then there's no way in Hades that woman's son in that news clip didn't know that girl was 11. The lame response about "idemmafication" is just that--LAME.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChristelyn D. Karazin

My heart is heavy... but I am not surprised. THIS is what happens when there is no accountabiliy, when there are no standards, when there is no ethical or moral outrage at the out and out debauchery passing for "culture" and "keepin' it real." When Black men are continuously given a pass for their deplorable behavior and irresponsibility.

Young Black girls are preyed upon in black constructs daily by GROWN black men. There is NO protection provided for these young girls. They are left to believe that their only value is the size of their behinds and their ability and willingness to give some man "head" (sorry to be so crude). This is a problem that goes back many many years. I remember when I was in high school I had a friend whose "boyfriend" was 27 years old, she was 14. Self-hating, male identified Black women are also to be blamed for their silent particiaption in the continuation of this horror.

These "alleged" rapists should be placed under the jail. Their behavior is beyond reprehensible, it's evil. I send many prayers for the young girl and her family during this incredibly difficult time they must be going through.

Texas is pretty tough regarding criminal activity; particularly from blacks. I can't see Al Sharpton and his BM criminal hugging robots doing a Jena 6 style crusade like they did back in Louisana. Basketball sta5r, future president of Mensa, or whatever; I do hope that these predators get prosecuted to the fullest and that victim witness protection looks out for the victim and her family.

First of all, let me say this is some truly repugnant s**t that took place in Cleveland, TX. I’m sorry, but there is no way in h**l that this 11 year old girl could be mistaken for a grown woman of consenting age. Everybody involved in this assault needs to be taken to the worst prison they can find and put in an area where they are violated on a daily basis.

As for Genarlow Wilson: I see the Blogmother still has a vendetta against him for some reason. I don’t condone what he did and he definitely deserved some punishment, but let’s look at what happened. They put him in jail for having oral sex with someone just 2 years younger than him. If that’s a crime, then I know plenty of people that should have gone to jail. They lumped him in with grown men who take advantage of young girls. That was my main issue with his situation.

Also, in response to something that AJ said: Most BM do not hate BW.

This makes me want to holler. How many more times will this happen? Why hasn't it stopped?
I am glad the authorities are prosecuting these folks.I'm starting to be in favor of the death penalty in cases of rape more and more.

Those alleged rapists(rolls eyes) and the females defending them are sick and twisted.
I pray the good lord makes every last one of them barren.

Thank you ABW for what you said. I saw the documentary "Very Young Girls." That's about human trafficking pure and simple. What these boys' defenders don't get is that they target these young girls because they know no one is going to care, no one is going to look for them. They're not Nataliee Holloway, they're not going to make the lead story on the Today show. These guys KNOW this and that's why they target girls like these.

I don't care how grown someone looks, if they're 11 then they're a child, case closed.

He was so arrogant in his part of the crime, HE TOOK PICTURES! Then some negroes raise money for him to go to college. Meanwhile, no one even asks anymore about the girls in this incident. And weren't the girls involved drugged and/or drunk, in so way impaired?

It's not a vendetta, it's called JUSTICE AND RESPONSIBILITY, even if some folks don't demand it for the girls involved.

WHAT IF GEN. WILSON DID THE EXACT SAME THING TO YOUR DAUGHTER? :( :( :(

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterVal

You know, I am down to start a letter writing campaign to DEMAND that justice is served in this case. No plea deals, no Alford please, no witnesses who are RAPISTS turning state's evidence, NONE of that.

Louisiana had it right until the SCOTUS overturned their state law that provided for the DEATH PENALTY in cases of child rape. The comments on TheRoot are as disgusting as the people who participated in the gang rape... ALL of them - even those who were just there.

What I think is most disheartening, but NOT surprising is the level of accountability that and 11 year old GIRL is supposed to have, but the complete abrogation of accountability that GROWN men and teenagers should be expected to have. Can't wait until the NAACP, NAN, Louis Farrkhan, Black Panthers, and other useless black organizations begin to mobilize on behalf of these savages.

None will stand for the victim... None will be her voice... None will protect her.

When the above mentioned agencies begin to organize on behalf of those Domestic terrorists, WE must do all that we can to unleash a barrage of common sense opposition to their indecency. We must wage a public shaming campaign that results in GUILTING them in doing what they were founded to do.

Revmama, go back and read my post. I wasn't absolving Genarlow of his crimes. I said that I had no issue with hiim being punished for what he did. My main gripe was the way they went about it. He was convicted of having oral sex with a 15 year old girl while he was 17, and for that, he got a mandatory 10 years. That punishment was meant for grown men who engage in sexual acts with underage girls. That, and that alone, was my issue with his case.

That being said, I'll be honest: I don't feel the same level of animosity towards Genarlow as I do towards the men in Cleveland, TX. Some of that has to do with the age of the girls in question. It seems strange, but that's just how I see it. The men in TX definitely deserve a harsh punishment, and Genarlow deserved punishment as well.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBK

BK, clearly you haven't seen the tape of what Wilson did, or you don't follow this blog. He videotaped himself forcing oral sex on an unconscious 17 year old as well. I'm amazed at the lack of clarity and deliberate disinformation regarding this case.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRoslyn Holcomb

Roslyn, I'm not a regular follower of this blog, nor have I seen the footage of the events from that night. Since that's what he did, then they should have charged him with something like forceable rape, sodomy, or whatever other charge was applicable. If I'm not mistaken, he was charged with statutory rape and aggrevated child molestation. The reason neither of those charges made sense was because of the 2 year age difference between the two. That, and that alone, was my main gripe.

I wasn't aware that another girl was involved as well. Most of what I know centered around the 15 year old girl.

NOTE FROM THE BLOGMOTHER- BK IS A LIAR AND A PLANT</B>

Folks notice how the Genarlow Wilson defenders always develop AMNESIA when it comes to his behavior with the 17 year old girl in the room. Each and everytime these Genarlow Wilson PLANTS come creeping in the comments section, I'll just reprint THE FACTS in his case to keep those Google results nice and fresh:

Here is the link to the Genarlow Wilson refresher course to introduce to some and remind other what the little cherub did in that room. http://www.whataboutourdaughters.com/waod/2010/10/29/your-genarlow-wilson-refresher-course-youre-not-entitled-to.html

Here is a description of the tape of Mr Wilson:

The videotape was "Exhibit A" because it depicts a horrific crime: a gang rape of a semi-conscious, 17-year-old girl, followed by a bizarre display of sexual precociousness by a 15-year-old girl. That's the truth recorded by Genarlow and his friends that fateful night. I suspect that is also why Ms. Bernstein hated it whenever McDade used it to rebut her version of Genarlow's crime.

No matter how much (two glasses of Cognac) the 17-year-old may have had to drink, no matter how much she may have flirted with those boys, she did not consent to having sex with all of them, one right after the other. Yet it never occurred to the "smart" and "spiritual" Genarlow to say, "Stop it. We should not be doing this." No. Genarlow watched, waited and gladly took his turn. When they were through raping her, Genarlow helped his friends drag the comatose victim to the bathroom. They opened the door, pushed her in, watched as she fell to the floor and closed the door. I guess she wasn't much fun anymore.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBK

I can imagine the intensive surgery she will go through. More likely than not she will lose her womb and might never have children as an adult. What a monster these men are and shame on any woman, black women in particular who constantly defend and support the filth among them.

You know Elle Woods I can appreciate petitioning the Times to do a more fair and balanced report. They should have included some voices calling this action what it is..appauling. However I have to say I am glad someone is exposing this ignorance that is going on of defending these offenders. I am actually glad that someone is exposing communities like this so we can actually have evidence of the ongoing war on our young women and the fact that they often have few to no defenders even in their own midst. Maybe embarassment will change somethings, then again maybe not. But at least it can fire the rest of us up. A better approach than petitioning an appology from them would be for everyone to write letters to the editor and oppinion pieces to counter what those quoted said in the article.

Are we really living in a society where color matters when a young child is raped? Societal norm is not to have an 11 year old child (black, white, yellow, green, brown) raped by 1 man let alone 27 men when that 11 year old norm should be playing with a doll or doing girly things minus forcefully opening her legs and raping her. There is a higher power and for all involved, they will have to answer to that power. Those involved have mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces, cousins, girlfriends and one day when karma knocks at their door, they will have daughters and I hope they remember the moment(s) they raped this 11 year old girl. This 11 year old girl is a product of her environment, whether she was looking for it, asking for it, begging for it, the MEN (not what I would call them) had a moral responsibility to say, HELL no your only 11 years old, old enough to be my daughter or my sister! Black women have always been seen as the bottom of the food link and these men are thank by ignorant women that forget that there is dignity involved with being a black woman we need to uphold to climb from the bottom of the link. Shame to all those involved in this HORRIFIC crime, shut the hell up and let all 27 of these men do the damn TIME. Please don't kill them while in jail, the toss salad man will show them true hell, when their assholes are spread open they will think of the precious token taken from this young girl and I will watch the news to see their asses swirl. No this is not revenge or vengence this is karma and tears especially for all of their mamas.

The response to this crime has left me speechless. I don't know what to say. The black collective is completely destroyed. There is no salvaging it, so I'm not going to rack my brain trying to figure out how some black folks can be so depraved and uncaring. I just finished watching the documentary Very Young Girls. It's on YouTube, if anyone else wants to watch it. I'm going to search out organizations in my area that helps girls that have been sexually assaulted and exploited and see how I can be of help. The only way to fight against the zombies is to participate in activities/organizations that support and protect African-American girls.

You can support organizations and women & girls in need of assistance ... from afar where you are not in physical danger. Ya'll need to take any and every comment you hear from a single person about how "we don't know all the facts", file it, and burn that person's number from your phone. WhoEVER it is, has just explicitly, or implicity stated that an 11-year old on the playground is worthy of being questioned about "her" role in being gang-raped by 2 dozen grown men with criminal records. You think those folks would support YOU if a tragedy happened? Uh, no. They can't empathize with a viciously brutalized child whose abuse was documented and passed around town. I don't care if they're family, I don't care if they're friends, those people should be classified as DANGEROUS in your eyes because they had the audacity to admit that they were ambivalent about the protection of young children from sexually predatory males. And if YOU have to think about that... well... ... ... I'm sure a black church somewhere in need of dollars and volunteers will be happy to take you in.

Maybe I'm just old school about some things, perhaps it's because I was born and raised in rural Alabama and come from a line of (I admit it) straight up ignorant folks, maybe because I live currently in Philly (which is also full of ignorant folks), but it's very surprising that someone has not put a cap in one of those guys...Or at the very least beat the crap out of them. I don't think anyone would try to take all of them out. Just one or two of them need to be introduced to Smith and Wesson and rest of the bunch would have to look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives.

Seriously if there was any justice in that town, in that county, those mfs would need to seek refuge in the jailhouse. They wouldn't even request bail.

THANK YOU Monica! THANK YOU. Where the HEL-UUUULLL are the GROWN MEN IN THIS COMMUNITY who haven't stomped these Knee-grows a new path through the woods????? Don't they have nieces, sisters, aunts, mothers, WIVES & DAUGHTERS? They all just cool with these dudes passing around videos of RAPES of a child? 2 DOZEN knee-grows arrested and ain't a ONE got a neighborhood beat-down, shoot, FIRED over this?* Not a single FATHER in this town was willing to say, "NO!", this is not accepted here? How is the community "torn apart" instead of INCISED? No, really? Where is the outcry of, "We're better than this?". Look, I knew (past tense, I peaced out) some ig'nant folks growing up as well, but DAY-UM at least ONE in those groups had some sense, even if was a mis-quoted bible scripture. I also feel for that poor child's siblings, you know they're feeling the heat now. Speaking of... REV AL!!!! WHERE YOU AT HOMES????

*I'm being generous and assuming at least one was gainfully employed.

The actions of these men are beyond depraved. I have never commented before, but I felt compelled to now. I can't believe that anyone would put any blame anywhere near an 11 yr old. I read on other sites people stating that the girl must have been "fast" or "should have known better" because she's black no doubt. Why do people believe that only white girls can be "lured"? This mess is outrageous!

*** NOTE FROM THE BLOGMOTHER***-> It is unclear that the girl is African American, she may be hispanic. But the phenomenon of Black women and men coddling rapists is the same as in other cases we've covered.

March 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKfromVa

Very upset and damm angry. Everyone in that town that support that sick behavior should be" decimated"- the removal of one in ten. I hope the child and her family is remove and place in witness protection.

Don't know if I am allowed to post links, but the New York Times is being called out for their Rape Friendly Reporting. There is something definitely wrong with American culture.

@ bee
I have no problem at all with the global audience reading this coonery. It needs to be exposed. Over at Jezebel, you have some DBR defenders talking about healing the community so this doesn't happen again. This was my response:

Please stop this bleeding heart about the community needing help. This will not be the first time a "black community" has rallied around predators and child molesters. Al Sharpton was front and center during the Dunbar village case where a woman was raped and forced to perform oral sex on her son by damaged beyond repair animals like these. If you need to know more about how this is not some community in need of help, Gina Macaulay has you covered. The only person who needs help and sympathy here is this young girl. The rest of them can burn in hell!

The morals and standards have declined in our community because we have let them decline. These kids are bombarded with sex on cable tv, the movies, the music, etc and there is no pushback from the negro community at all. We let white liberals define what is acceptable and unacceptable for us. if white liberals are down with it so are we and white liberals are down with the sexual bombardment of society and our youth. We don't have the guts to set our own standards.Whether that young girl was compliant or not those so called men should have had the moral character to put a stop to it by whatever means possible. The moral decline or should I say the disappearance of morals from our community is going to bring about our total destruction, We have young people out here in our communities who are absolute sociopaths who have no regard for human life and we as a people don't even want to talk about it. Frankly I think things have gone too far to reverse this type of behaviour and if we were to try to revers we would have to step outside of the legal system to do it because many, many people would have to be taken out. They are too far gone.

This is beyond commentary! It's worse than I imagined.

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterhalima

It doesn't get any better. I teach middle school and the student body is about 98% black. I had a discussion about Chris Brown and abuse with them, and they all believe there are times women deserve to be beaten. No one spoke up against this. This is what black women are teaching their children. These girls are more likely to be abused than anyone, yet they make a case for being abused. I can't even imagine what their views on sex are/will be, but I imagine they will make excuses for abusers, if they aren't already. It's frightening and heart breaking.

It is unclear that the girl is African American, she may be hispanic.

I'd be very surprised. Given the animosity between blacks and Hispanics in many communities I would think there would be bodies on the ground if this child were Hispanic. Of course, i could be wrong.

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRoslyn Holcomb

Roslyn, I suspect she is hispanic as well because of her mother's first name, her parent's occupation and the quotes from the mother in the paper, but of course its all conjecture.

I actually grew up not too far from here and have driven through and around Cleveland for years. This is THE CUT. So while Texas has a large hispanic population, they might not be as organized in Cleveland as they would be in neighboring Houston. Also, its the kind of place that people with ambition and drive FLEE. There is no reason to stay there when you have Houston and plenty of it suburbs with much better prospects a stone's throw away.

From descriptions, this family appears to have been very isolated including living on a relatively remote mobile home.

I really don't care one way or another, its certain segments of the black community that believe that the age of consent to have sex starts when young girls leave their mother's womb that is disgusting, disturbing and ouright dangerous.

March 10, 2011 | Registered CommenterThe Blogmother

The race or ethnicity of the little girl does not matter. We have to stop coddling these criminals. Justice must be served.

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMonica

Gina,

I too suspect the girl is hispanic based on reading the mother's quotes and description of the girl (as having long dark hair). Either way it doesn't matter those savages need to be electrocuted along with anyone in that town who is sticking up for them.

And they better pray to GOD those Mexican males in neighboring towns (especially the gang memebers) don't get whiff of this story - b/c they already hate BM and they are very apt to protecting and fighting for their women.

Maybe b/c she is not Black there may actually be soemthing done about stuff like this going in in the communities where BW are usually the brunt of these savages and their families.

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNeecy

BK,

Most BM may not hate BW, but they sure don't act like they LOVE them. Now, your rapist sympathizing is evident of that. No matter how you attempt to justify Genarlow's crimes, sex with an UNCONSCIOUS person is just wrong and if you don't think so, then you have rapist tendencies.

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBLKSeaGoat

I don't think race matters either especially when it comes to the media look how some of them reported that journalist who got attacked in Egypt story. And its already been established that men who hate BW so much end up treating other race women the same exact way.

This behavior is a problem in general culture.

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterblkchik

"And they better pray to GOD those Mexican males in neighboring towns (especially the gang memebers) don't get whiff of this story - b/c they already hate BM and they are very apt to protecting and fighting for their women"

You got that right!!!

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLD

@BK: I do believe that the average Black American man and boy is being taught through a wide variety of mediums to hate Black women and girls, starting as far back as 25 years ago with the change in Hip Hop to gangsta rap and Horrorcore, etc. This has continued up to current times with the negative and stereotypical portrayals of Black women being thrown up against positive portrayals of other women, and the total loss of the family structure in the BC because Black men KEEP LEAVING/RUNNING AWAY/SHIRKING THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES.

Because of this, many Black men, starting from a young age, feel free to hate BW, leave BW, or stick around and do just what these 20-year old MEN did to a little 11-year old CHILD. Everything is teaching Black men to hate, disrespect, or totally disregard Black women and girls in general. Thus, the high rates of violence in the BC including high rape and murder of BW; the low rates of BW represented humanely in the media; and the low rates of BW portrayed next to BM in the media where BM don't even feel the need to speak up about it and request BW costars. Black men and their general disrespect and disregard for BW and OUR PLIGHT in America says to me that, yes, the majority of BM DO HATE Black women. There is no other way to look at it.

I didn't say all, but most or the majority. I do believe that there are those who do not harbor hate towards BW but themselves are brainwashed into the idea of weak Black men and strong Black women - thus, these organizations mobilize around Black men, even when criminals, and do nothing for Black women because they've believe that no matter what, we'll take care of ourselves - even in the cases of rape, murder, and other ruination.

I don't believe this is the case in all Blackorganizations. For example:

@blkSeaGoat: "Can't wait until the NAACP, NAN, Louis Farrakhan, Black Panthers, and other useless black organizations begin to mobilize on behalf of these savages."

In my experience, Farrakahan and the Black Panthers have never mobilized on behalf of any Black men who did criminal acts. In fact, I've heard some of Farrakhan's speeches where he called Black men who were rapist and murderers savages and that the BC needed to rid itself of them. Full speeches dedicated to that, so I don't know about all that other stuff you're saying. As for the NAACP, well that's another story. Yes, they do tend to mobilize around criminals NOW just because they follow the mantra that Black men are always supposedly victimized, even when they committed the crime, and Black women are "strong" and can handle anything and never suffered in America.

As for Al Sharpton and NAN, I think he has done some right, and other misguided. I liked how Al Sharpton came out against the abortion posters accusing Black women of genocide in New York, but I agree that overall that he is unfocused and follows a similar pattern as the NAACP. I think the NAACP and NAN WERE good at some time in the past, but they have fallen off and ascribe to the "Black man as the only victim" mindset now.

Plus, in all reality it's kind of unfair that we are still looking for any of those orgs to speak up for us now. Most of their original leaders are in their 60s and 70s MINIMUM and they fought hard during their prime for the issues back in the day. Face it, they are OLD and honestly, deserve a break.

It's our time now and these issues are affecting us, so we should be the ones speaking up and fighting, not asking them to fight modern day battles anymore.

All this is to say that unless Black women speak up for ourselves, we can't count on anyone to protect us - BM are increasingly trained to hate us, and historical Black organizations have gotten either too old, weak, or irrelevant to continue the fight that they (once) valiantly fought.

Again, Blogmother, my bad for such along post - there are just so many problems right now my mind is spinning!

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAJ

I DON'T GIVE A DAM ABOUT THE RACE, GENDER AND/OR CLASS OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS INCIDENT! RAPE IS WRONG, PERIOD! RAPE OF A CHILD IS WRONG, PERIOD!

Having said that, there are studies that have been done, continue to be done on the increasing amount of violence against children by adults, and often the children and adults involved know each other and/or are from the same family, neighborhood, race, economic background, etc.

This is all the more frightening. :(

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterrevmamaafrika

BK, well ok, my anger is mainly directed towards the negroes (Tom Joyner, Michael Bladen, etc) that got together and got a scholarship for him to go to college, I think it was Morehouse.

Again, did anybody raise money for college for the young girls involved? NO!!!

So Gen. Wilson is going to be a "Morehouse Man"? Are they friggin' serious? :( :( :(

March 10, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterrevmamaafrika

AJ,

The Black Panthers gave us a serial rapist in the person of Eldridge Cleaver. The New Black Panthers protested Joe Horn, a TX man who shot and killed to black burglars who broke into a neighbors home and were truned back by the KKK and other white supremacists organizations who came to the defense of Joe Horn.

Louis Farrakhan essentially evicerated Rihanna for her concert performances, but attended a party and was photgraphed with Karrine Steffans aka SUPERHEAD. And Farrakhan is just another race huckster who blames black dysfunction on white racism.

So I meant what I said and you can feel free to look all of it up (and no, I'm not trying to be snarky with you). The other thing you mentioned is that we shouoldn't be waiting on black organizations to be the voice for black victims and I am in complete agreement. I made it a point to mention the fact that these organizations support criminals over victims because it's their pattern. When they start advocating for the RIGHTS of these criminals, we need to start advocating for the RIGHTS of the victim and her family.
