Anybody Else Heard Back From Allstate After 9 Days? Insurance Company With No "Investigators"?

Its only been NINE DAYS since many of you alerted Allstate insurance company that they were the sponsor of an event where Genarlow Wilson, a man tried for a gang rape and convicted of AGGRAVATED CHILD MOLESTATION , was marketed and positioned as a "youth" speaker at the Allstate Tom Joyner family reunion.

I finally called the executive offices on Monday after many of you were met with radio silence in response to your complaints. I was promised a call back later that day by someone named Dianna. Its now two days later... RADIO SILENCE.

Now you would think that Allstate would be swift in distancing themselves from any association with Mr. Wilson, but clearly, they don't want to ruffle Tom Joyner's feathers.  Yesterday afternoon, a reader finally got a response to an email she sent to Allstate. Apparently they are still "investigating" Mr. Wilson's participation.

Thank you for your email. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concern in regards to the Genarlow Wilson case.
While Allstate does not have all of the facts in regards to the Genarlow Wilson case, we do not agree with sexual abuse of children or violence against women. In fact, Allstate promotes teen safe driving to overcome injuries and deaths of young people, and the Allstate Foundation Domestic Violence Program raises awareness and changes societal attitudes about domestic violence and financial abuse of women.

This incident has prompted the institution of a process that will allow for pre-screening of guest speakers/performers at events that we sponsor and support. Allstate Response to WAOD Reader

Why after 10 days wouldn't you "have all the facts" about the Genarlow Wilson case? You're an insurance company with likley 1000s of investigators on staff. Not to mention something called GOOGLE. 

Heck, here's the decision from a Georgia appeals court , read the background facts of Wilson v. Georgia the dirst in those pesky FOOTNOTES Mr. Wilson's supporters LOVE to ignore:

*459 A group of teenagers rented adjacent rooms at a motel and
held a raucous, unsupervised New Year's Eve party. Among the
participants were 17- year-old Genarlow Wilson, 17-year-old L.M.,
and 15-year-old T.C. The next morning, L.M. reported to her
mother that she had been raped. Police were notified, and the motel
rooms were searched. During the search, a videocamera and
videocassette tape were found. The tape showed Wilson having
sexual intercourse with an apparently semiconscious L.M. and T.C.
performing oral sex on Wilson.

These are the undisputed facts cited by the Court of Appeals. 

How uncoincious was LM? 

Here, L.M. was a witness who appeared at trial and might have
provided personal authentication of the videotape by testifying that
it accurately portrayed what took place at the time of the
occurrence of the events in question. [FN18] She could not,
however, provide such testimony because she had lost
consciousness as a result of drug and alcohol use. Although L.M.
did regain consciousness during some of the events and did recall
Wilson attempting to have sexual intercourse with her and trying to
force her to give him oral sex, she did not have any independent
recollection of the events depicted on the videotape. L.M. was,
therefore, an unavailable witness under OCGA § 24- 4-48, as she
testified "to a lack of memory of the subject matter of the
authentication." [FN19]

Again, not the word of some blogger, but the appeals court in Georgia on this issue of whether there was sufficient evidence to admit the videotape Mr. Wilson made of his acts that night.

I don't know what there is to investigate. THE EVENT CARRIES YOUR NAME. This isn't a school car wash. This isn't a bake sale. This isn't the local little league baseball team. This is a massive event hosted by a nationally syndicated radio show host.  Call up the person who signed off on the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion Sponsorship. Go look at Mr. Wilson's Faebook Page where he has several photos of him AT the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion. Go look at his Twitter account and then go read the Supreme Court of Georgia opinion which freed Mr. Wilson and goes into detail about what he did in that Douglasville hotel room. 

The truth is that Allstate must be in a state of shock that Tom Joyner did this to them. They probably find it unbelieveable that someone would present a "youth" speaker convicted of AGGRAVATED CHILD MOLESTATION.  Well BELIEVE!

I am still trying to understand why this individual was given the role as a youth speaker at this event? Really? Given the information as presented who DOES this? Allstate and Mr. Joyner should respond to this and I am wondering if the parents of the youth present at this event would feel some kind of way to know the background of the "youth leader" that their children were exposed to

No consequences, so why should we try to do better when people will give chances to those who don't deserve them. I am so sure there are thousands of individuals out working tirelessly with youth who could have participated in that event that did NOT have the background this person did. But they don't have that hook up.....

They are full of crap. Here is the response my friend received. They just have a form letter that they are dropping names into without actually addressing the concerns or he issue. Maggie, DIanna and in this case Kristen are not concerned in the least. Its time to take this to the next level. Please see letter below.

You're right that Allstate is full of it. Everyone on this blog including me have provided the company with tons of evidence from WAOD that Wilson is a vile rapist. So, they have NO excuse at this point.

Allstate definitely joins the Boycott List.

I should have known they would be shaddy. When I called they asked more questions about how did I know they were the sponsors than about Wilson or his crimes. They asked if I had personally attended the event. So it looks like what they are wanting is hard documented evidence that they are linked directly to the talks given by this predator. Seems if they can keep their sponsorship one of two steps removed from his being THEIR actual spokesman they feel insulated.

I don't understand why L.M. could not testify as a reliable witness at the trial. That was her in the video. That she was so unconcsious that she could not remember it taking place proves more than anything that the incident was non-consensual and in fact rape. Why aren't Wilson and all the men involved in jail for rape right now?

It wasn't whether she could testify as a witness. It was whether or not she could be used to authenticate the videotape of her gang rape. What the court is saying is that because she was unconscious, she had no personal knowledge of the recording being made. It's a legal technicality related to admitting photographs and video tapes.

The point is that the court is basically saying she was unconscious when Mr. Wilson and his five buddies had sex with her repeatedly and when Mr. Wilson tried to force her to perform oral sex on her while she was unconscious.

Its quite damning of Genarlow WIlson.
