WAOD Joins Kwame Kilpatrick National Day of Prayer

"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."---Martin Luther King

Dear readers, I want you to activate the WAOD prayer circles because on tommorrow, this blog will be joining the National Day of Prayer for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.  We don't post on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so we are going to have to activate the WAOD prayer, chanting and meditation circles a day early, but that's okay because Kwame Kilpatrick needs all of the prayer and chanting that he can get.

Photobucket

For those of you who do not hang out with your fellow readers in the WAOD Network, Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to prison after he failed to comply with the terms of his probation.  He is currently sitting in a secluded air conditioned cell with a private shower, basically a Motel 6. In light of the serious injustice of sending a noncompliant probationer who lies and attempts to deceive the courts to jail, Kwame Kilpatrick's supporters are holding a National Day of Prayer in honor of Mr. Kilpatrick's 40th Birthday.
Kwame Kilpatrick will spend his 40th birthday on Tuesday in prison. But supporters still plan to celebrate the milestone with a prayer rally in Detroit. The National Prayer Rally, announced on theWeb site, is to feature appearances by the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Minister Louis Farrakhan and was organized in part by Kilpatrick's mother, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Mich., said the Rev. Jim Holley, pastor of the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Freep.com

I know that many of you have other pressing matters during this age of an oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico, massive unemployment, rising foreclosures etcetera etcetera etcetera, however, I need y'all to pause so that we can all touch and agree that the Universe will lay hands on Mr. Kilpatrick and ....smack some sense into him and every other ignorant soul that is playing part in the stream of circus like activity emanating from the once great city of Detroit.

I am so sick of people who treat God like a personal "Feel Good" ATM. God never promised that life would be easy and that we would be able to escape every trial if we managed to gather a large enough group of vocal supporters.

Jonah had to hang out in the belly of the whale. Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego had to hang out in the fiery furnace. Daniel-Lion's Den. Moses- Midian. Jesus-Wilderness.Saul- Damascus Road. Martin Luther King... went to jail. Are you seeing a pattern here?  Some of the greatest ministry every performed was done while people were imprisoned.

I posted a photo I took of Kwame Kilpatrick hanging out in the lobby of the Hyatt at last year's CBC ALC. (click the image for the full-sized photo)

In the lobby at the Grand Hyatt Kwame Kilpatrick on the cellp... on Twitpic

He had a cell phone glued to his ear. Talking to no one in particular. I had my breakfast meeting hung out and chilled and he still was in the same place. This was a place people hung out who wanted to be seen. He wanted to be seen. This man was delusional. The normal, rational response to embarrassing your wife, your kids, your city, your mama, your lover etcetera etcetera would be shame. Head hanging, hiding out in a dark cave shame.

I'm steamed that they used the "injustice anywhere" quote from MLK. Here are some more quotes from Martin Luther King on their dreadful flyer.

  • A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan. *crickets*

  • An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. *crickets*

  • Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness. Kwame Kilpatrick's entire public life has been marked by selfishness. he didn't care about his children when he was carrying on with Christine and chronicling every step of the way on his Blackberry

  • He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it. Not only did Kwame Kilpatrick passively accept evil, per perpetuated it.

  • I submit to you that if a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live. What is Kwame willing to die for? He's not even willing to take responsibility for his own bad acts.

  • If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values - that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has spiritual control. Where are Kwame's morals?

  • Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

  • There is nothing more tragic than to find an individual bogged down in the length of life, devoid of breadth.

</snark>

This is not a joke, these loons actually are so delusional that they are organizing a "National" Day of Prayer for a former Mayor. I guess a  "City-wide" day of prayer was beneath them.

On tomorrow I shall be praying that the Spirit of Discernment will descend upon the entire city of Detroit and start handing out some CLUES! It is clear to me that the only place Kwame Kilpatrick will ever have an opportunity to mature and grow may be prison. Until he is left alone and away from his enablers, he is at risk of remaining a manchild.

Cut the apron strings people!

Christine Beatty might have been scandalous, but at least she had the self awareness to show some contrition and made an attempt at retribution. :
Morganroth said that despite her financial problems, Beatty has made token payments toward the $100,000 restitution she agreed to pay the city. Probation authorities weren’t immediately available to confirm how much she has paid. WCHB

Maybe we ought to hire her to run  the WAOD political operation( oops did I say that out loud). That's at least two years away.

I'm a firm believer in redemption... for people who are actually contrite about wrong doing.

I need to stay off Youtube. Somebody actually did a Christine Beatty tribute video.
Spooky!

Possibly the worst thing is, what did these folks do for the family of the little girl killed by police, Aiyanna Jones? What did they do for the family of the three children that died in a house fire during the winter? What did these folks do for all the families that have lost their jobs, and therefore, have do money to pay rent/mortgage, pay utilities, etc? :( :( :(

RMA,

The same thing Ayana Jones' trifling family dId for her while she was living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 11 other people who decided to hide a murderous "relative" while Detroit Police searched for him. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Day-Twat is almost as bad as DC when it comes to Chitlin Eatin Negroes engagaing in foolishness. I am glad that Kwame is going back to prison. I'll be glad when his mother is finally thrown out of office, but I doubt the apathetic and woefully ignorant voting populace in her district will allow that to happen.

I'm still surprised that Kwame still has a following even though I know I shouldn't be. Black people have taken foolishness to stratospheric levels and the support of Kwame and people like him (Charley Rangel, Marion Barry, Maxine Waters, Alcee Hastings, etc.) only reinforces that opinion.

Co-opting MLK and attempting to compare Martin catching a bullet to Kwame catching some nookie, is a bit much.

At the end of the day, people do make mistakes. Bill Clinton lied under oath about Monica L. and he didn't do any jail time for it. I do not like Kwame K. but he is paying for his mistakes. I guess you want the brotha to kill himself.

All that said, black folks this is what happens when you coddle black men. They behave worse.

You know what? You are too FUNNY. I have to stop reading you at work. I am laughing so loud that I know my co-workers can hear me and must think I am crazy.

And no, I will not be praying for the Brother!!

Ms. L,

You're comparing apples to walnuts. Personally, I'd like to see Kwame openly admit that he was trifling. Bill Clinton did it and so did Motor Mouth Monica.

Kwame is still playing the victim card though. He believes that he is in no way responsible for anything he's done and hasn't even attempted to feign remorse.

Would I like to so Kwame dead? No, but I am sure the family of Tamara Greene would have a different answer.

"The same thing Ayana Jones’ trifling family dId for her while she was living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 11 other people who decided to hide a murderous “relative” while Detroit Police searched for him. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING."

I was thinking the same thing when that child got shot. I didn't want to be accused of "victim blaming" but my first thought was "WHY was her aunt's boyfriend allowed to stay with them if they knew he was wanted for murder????" And the keyword here is "boyfriend." Why are y'all protecting someone who's not even family???

I keep hearing the outrage of the police action (which is justified) but have yet to hear any outrage towards the aunt for letting that man live with them in the first place.

If anything, that innocent baby died because they placed more value on protecting a criminal than protecting children.

Sorry for derailing the original topic.

A mistake is when you don't balance your check book and you bounce a check...a mistake is locking your keys in your car. Please don't call Kwame's behavior a "mistake." He is in jail because he fired two police officers who were attempting to investigate fraud which would have uncovered his affair. He lied about it and the City of Detroit had to pay $8 million to the 2 wrongfully fired officers. Kwame has no one to blame for his current situation but himself. He came back to court because in spite of living in a mansion, going on $$$ shopping sprees and paying for his wife's cosmetic surgery, he could only pay $6 per month in restitution to the City. As the judge stated at his sentencing "(Kwame) opened the door to this..." Thankfully, Christine Beatty, has gone on with her life and has attempted to pay back the restitution to the City. Kwame has never demonstrated any remorse for his actions and his handlers continue to enable him.

I live in Metro Detroit and people like Horace Sheffield, et. al. always want to support the wrong person. Where is the prayer rally for the students of Detroit who must attend sub-standard school? Where is the prayer rally for the hardworking single black woman featured in the Wall Street Journal article(Black Flight Hits Detroit) who had her house robbed, vandalized and ultimately fire-bombed by her neighbor who kept stealing from her? Where is the prayer vigil for 7 year old Aiyana Jones who died in part because of the trifling adults in her life??

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKaren R.

BSG, Karen~thank you for acknowledging the fact that Aiyana's death was due to her "family's" foolishness.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLaJane Galt

Lol! Yes LaJane, it's too early for that. I'm going to be thinking about this all day. And Seagoat, you adding the James Brown treatment isn't helping matters either.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterZooPath

Oh Karen don't forget the image consultant he has hired according to the May 24 Jet issue. ( I had to pick it up after I heard he questioned the motives of the prosecutor for sending him back to jail). "If it's about money then let me work," or something like that was his response. The implication being that he is just like Ray Ray and 'em trying to pay restitution on the their Target shoplifting from the $10/hour warehouse job they are trying to hold down.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBee

Does this remind anyone else of Marion Barry and how the people of Washington, D.C. continued to support him even after he was busted with a prostitute and smoking crack?

@Mrs. L

Kwame was living in a million dollar home in the suburbs of Dallas and paying for his wife to have elective plastic surgery while not paying his restitution. So I fail to see how he was paying for his mistakes.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterVal

See, Imma have to stop reading this blog. I cannot stop giggling. I didn't look at the mimes, or the church beefcake because I knew my fucknuttery tolerance is very limited these days. But this might well be the craziest thing I've ever heard. You've got a city that's in such bad shape they're literally trying to make it disappear and these fools are praying for a man who cost this impoverished city millions of dollars. iCan't.

@ Roslyn - uh uh gurl, go back and look at the mimes, it will make you spend your tithe money on liquor...

@BSG - "Day-Twat" - I love you!!

@Jane - Ditto!

I personally will be having my own day of prayer so that Mr. Kwame "y'alls boy" gets a not so nice boyfriend to help him with his prison sentence...

Question is this a free event or a fundraiser to pay down the debt?

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterthelilidiva4u

LilDiva,

You can bet your bottom dollar that this is a ruse to get people to help pay down the 870K he still owes in restitution.

Scipio,
Carlita should look that great. You would too if you were able to get all kinds of plastic surgery that you weren't paying for.

Jesse and Louis are slated to appear via satellite. I also hear that Sexual Chocolate will be in the house to entertain the masses with their version of "The Greatest Love of All."

That's exactly what I was thinking, but just wanted to clarify.

Wow...just wow!!!!
Just when you think it can’t possibly get worse.

*points white-glove hands left and walks off*

Ya know...a ign'ant comment on the link said something to the effect of, "the blacks want this to be a black city..."

There was a time when I would get offended at something like that. But after living in Atlanta (Bill Campbell) and DC...I wonder myself sometimes.

The things is lower-tiered folks of all stripes will vote for someone "like" them. GWB pulled off the illusion twice and there are many white fools at the local level. However, they don't seem to have such a disproportionate effect in their cities. Perhaps this is because the presence of others is a moderating check on abject f-ery. Whereas, in Detroit others have been gone, so there is no check on said f-ery and the large minority is subject to such idiots as Kilpatrick.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLaJane Galt

Dang Gina! You would post this today of all days.I normally would never miss an opportunity for a good ole public rebuke/roasting.I just made an oath with myself not to talk, think, type,or communicate in any form with/about dysfunctional low/no value people...for at least a week.Supposedly I could be doing something more valuable with my time,*shoulder shrug*

So uh,when are you gonna post another Michelle Obama Watch segment?

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTruth p

Nauseating. No one wants to be held accountable for their actions. Too bad God ' didn't" care about Detroit long before Kwame. Why pray for one 'lost soul'.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercinco

Well, I agree, I don't care who you are, IF I KNOW the poe-poe are looking for you, you will not come into my house, especially where there are children, the elderly, etc. That being said, no matter how trifling the family may have been, the police actions are not justified; what they did is being done all across this country to too many people, even "good, hard-working folks who never get in trouble with the law", etc. The poe-poe get the wrong address, and go busting in, innocent people get hurt or killed. And if you heard Rev. Al "eulogy" at the little girl's funeral, naw, that was not the place for that. But that's just me. :(

And as for prayer, yes we all need prayer, to ask for God's grace and mercy. In Bro. Kwame's case, there's no one around, in his life, that's loves him enough to tell him God's grace is not that cheap. He seems to be more sorry he got caught than anything else. And then Christine's pastor is COGIC? The denomination that even in this New Millenium (sp) still does not ordain women to preach? ARE THEY KIDDING? :( :(

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterrevmamaafrika.com

Gina you know you wrong. See, I toldja I needed to stay away from this blog. That header is a scream.

June 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRoslyn Holcomb

@roslyn... what header? I don't know what you mean. Nothing out of the ordinary around here :)

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered Commentergem2001

RMA,
COGIC ordains women preachers and pastors, they just can't be Elders or Bishops. Does that now make COGIC less reprehensible?

Carlita is just as deluded and stupid as her baby daddy. Kwame is still a POS, Ayanna is dead because of her triflin' family, and COGIC is the black Pentecostal equivalent of the Roman Catholic church.

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBLKSeaGoat

Well Bro. BSG, perhaps COGIC raised the glass ceiling while I wasn't looking. :)

But please, a trifling family in no way justifies police terrorism! What the police did to the little girl could very well be done to you, your home, your family.

And "Chocolate City" is just a mere step away from being that deadly and fascist! :( :(

Sis. Gina, that header up there really is a scream, though!
:) :) :)

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterrevmamaafrika.com

I thought this was a joke! Just... I have no words for such nonsense.

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSonya Steele

revmama~BSG isn't saying that a trifling family justifies terrorism. We KNOW that police abuse/brutality/terror exists...so why increase the risk that it will affect your domicile (a duplex with one family is an extended family unit)?

We have to be honest about the totality of the situation. If you lie down with pigs, you're going to smell like __.

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLaJane Galt

RMA,

If DC were a facist police state, as you believe, Brishell Jones, Tavon Nelson, William Henry Jones III, and DeVaughn Boyd would all still be alive.

SanQuan Carter, Malik Carter, Orlando Carter, Nathaniel Simms, and the fifth suspect in the drive by on So. Capitol Street would have been under the jail.

I would LOVE for DC to grow a pair and deal with murderous thugs they way they should be dealt with. Locked away forever or killed by the state. DC is terrible when it comes to criminal justice. A few mishaps by police, (though when you look at the backgrounds of the so-called victims of DC police brutality, they were bound to be killed by another criminal or a police officer) DOESN'T MAKE DC a police state.

Neither does it make Day-Twat a police state. Ayanna's aunt's baby daddy killed a 17 year old in cold blood and ran to Ayanna's family (where 11 people were piled into a 2 bedroom - mostly adults), where they hid him. The Grandmother attempted to disarm a cop and unfortunately because she and the rest of her brood chose to protect a murderer, a 7 year old girl is dead. Ayanna's death was a tragic mistake, but one that could have been avoided. Jerean Blake's murder was premeditated, deliberate, and vicious... so was Granmamma's decisicion to hide Jerean's murderer.

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBLKSeaGoat

LaJane,

Often times it's the trifling family that's terrorizing the neighborhood. The neighbors of Ayanna's family have all had disparaging things to say about that family. Ayanna's family were the terrorists!

What I am tired of is black folks having an adversarial relationship with law enforcement and law enforcement policies by default. We have a tendency to elevate anecdotal or isolated incidents (like Ayanna, Diallo, and Rodney) and make them the typical experience that every black person has with law enforcement.

We also like to abrogate ourselves from ANY culpability for any adverse thing that may happen.

Don't get me wrong, there are many examples of police abusing black people, but not nearly enough to be consider par for the course.

I won't steer this post off topic anymore than I already have. Sorry Gina.

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBLKSeaGoat

I know I said I would let this go and I promise I will after this!

RMA,

Charles Jones (Aiyana's father - if you can call him that) was actually with his soon-to-be brother in law, Chauncey Owens -34, while Chauncey shot and killed 17 year old JeRean Blake. Charles hasn't been charged with anything yet, but I'll bet you a dollar that he was a co-conspirator. So again, how exactly is Day-Twat a police state that's just violating the rights of these poor, innocent, black people?

June 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBLKSeaGoat

First of all, where would anyone get the idea that Kwame is a struggling black man? He is an arrogant ex-mayor of Detroit who felt that he was above the law. I heard from a friend that does work with the City of Detroit that Christine Beatty was not a nice person and most in city hall are glad to see her gone. Now for the little girl killed in the raid. I can't believe that these people were hiding a person wanted on a murder warrant. Trying to make the police officers out as bad guys is absolutely insane. These people obstructed the officers and harbored a person with a murder warrant. When I found out that the grandmother had interfered with the officer who shot the little girl, I was incensed at how they didn't blame her.
