The Blogmother
As you know publicists are the BANE of my existence they are like gnats, you don't know why they are swarming you and you didn't invite them into your inbox, but they are always there. DOZENS of them a day and I spend a great deal of my time deleting their emails and creating filters to block them from my inbox.
Occasionally however, one manages to break through and get their client on to the front page of this blog. So what exactly is the key to not getting your publicist spam sent to file 13?
First address me by name. Not "Dear Bloggers" or Dear "What About Our Daughters" You went through the trouble of snagging my super top secret email address from somewhere, why not take the extra 5 seconds to personalize your spam.
Second, don't send me crap that my blog has a fundamental philosophical disagreement. No, I'm not promoting hip hop. No I will not read you book unless it had to do with Black women and girls. No I do not care that your client is speaking at place X, Y, Z. No I am not goign to promote your new spray on pantyhose. If you want to promote a product to my readers... BUY AN AD!
Third, make my life easy. I'm busy don't make me wade through 15 paragraphs of your glowing praise about your client. I don't care. I don't have the time. Give me exactly what you want me to post so I can just copy and paste. This is why I always open the mail from the CBS online publicist because she gives me blurbs AND the embed code. She doesn't direct me to another website. She does not attach a file that I have to download and then upload, she puts the code right there in the email. Copy and past.
Which brings us to today's luck publicist that got plucked from the abyss of file 13. CNN's Flack want's y'alll to know that they are giving out TEN $25,000 Awards for their CNN Heroes Awards. Y'all need to enter somebody because its a rough economy, somebody could use $25,000 plus it is a great opportunity to promote Black women who are doing amazing work. Nominate your neighbors, your friends, co workers, grassroots activists, but take time today to nominate a Black woman for the CNN Heroes Awards. Here is the blurb from the publicist:
That is all.
