at this point, I think they're toast.
:(
Don't ever try to predict a jry verdict before its read. You're inviting dissappointment. Al ittakes is 1.
@ gem2001, you're right . . . my bad . . . but I don't mind saying out loud I'm praying for a conviction . . . sentenced to 20 year or more or life.
:(
Where are your national mainstream feminist groups on this one?
I guess, I'm just disapointed. I still think the police sucked. Sorry, what about the other guys. Why can't the police find them. Oh, that's right the victim is not blond and blue eyed.
@revmama ...I hope they get life forget 20 years.I am wondering why they ever even let convicted murderers or rapists out in the first place. They know most prisons are not rehabilitation facilities. Most of THOSE people do not change .They get out and hurt more people.I just don't get it.
You ARE the national mainstream feminist group. Go back and read the archives... we're on our own. Repeat this three times "we're on our own."
I hear you Gem2001 I just think that the likes of Gloria Alred (don't know how to spell her name) and NOW have been oddly silent on this and should be called out like the so-called black leadership groups were who actually backed the suspects at first. I just think it's time for black women to pull the covers off of this whole mess. I know, I know, say it three times...
Gina's Quote:"Repeat this three times “we’re on our own.”
You know, what? You're so right. I've never seriously thought about it this way. As a black woman, I feel it often. But, I've never articulated it. It's truly up to us. If we want our neighborhoods back...if we want decent schools...if we want daughters who don't buy into the bull of ...sexing their way into a relationship...and sons that value women. It's up to us....and a few good men. But, really.
With foreclosures up and neighborhoods crumbling it would be a good time to have a couple of nickels...buy up houses in these areas and do OUR OWN FORM of gentrification. I know that's a dirty word. But, the idea of gated communities and private security is sounding better and better.
For the lawyers out there...Is it illegal to have a housing or renters policy that frowns on...harboring hoodlums? Or, to offer each potential renter a test...
Hoodlum Harborer Test
1) Has you or anyone in your family been arrested for a violent offense, theft, etc?
2) Will your baby's father be living with you and has he ever been employed or does he have plans to be employed?
3) Has anyone in your family been incarcerated? (Wait...that one may knock me out)
Seriously...is there any real legal way to control who lives in an area?
