Adios!

I'm going on a one-month blogcation. Faith and Fortitude1913 will be your guest hosts for the next four weeks. I'll also be going on email hiatus so direct your WAOD-related emails, questions, complaints or "suggested stories/ product placements" to them. Faith blogs at "Acts of Faith in Love and Life" and Fortitude1913 blogs at Hit Me Back. Oh, and if any of you get the notion that since the cat is away, the mice will play, trust that your guest hostesses are lionesses in their own right. I'm certain you won't agree with some of their viewpoints, however, they've promised not to burn the place to the ground while I'm away.

They are both really good writers and independent thinkers so I think the WAOD Lurkers Association will enjoy them.

Point of Clarification

This decision was made MONTHS AGO. I dedicated a huge chunk of time getting Blogging While Brown to a point where it can function without me. I think I made significant progress in creating a structure that makes the conference independent so that it can continue to take place and thrive irrespective of what's going on in my life and I am allowed to continue to develop other projects and platforms without 6 or 7 months of my life being taken over by a single project every year.

Please stop sending me emails about me being "discouraged" about BET :) When I wrote "A Letter From the Battle Scarred." I consider "battle scarred" people to be some of the wisest. They have experience in battle, as denoted by their scars. I was sharing my wisdom with you before I headed out the door, no, I am not going to endorse, support or lead a campaign based on principals and viewpoints I do not hold.

I believe

A) Debra Lee doesn't care how many angry letters you send because she thinks you are provincial and the great unwashed masses and

B) You can't impose direct economic sanctions on BET only an Act of Congress or advertisers can do so.

I don't do vanity protests, that's a hallmark of the CRIC and I try to avoid CRIC-like tendencies.

I'm not evacuating, I'm graduating. Which is why I didn't allow comments on the two BET posts. Most people who comment on BET-related posts don't want to move on. They want to:

a) comment about how they "never" watch BET or haven't watch in 15 years [ well bully for you. Too bad you don't live in a bubble to separate you and you loved ones from those that do still watch] or

B) propose some completely time-consuming ineffective strategy that does nothing or

c) try to argue that its no big deal because its just entertainment [yes and we KNOW entertainment has never shifted cultural or political norms or changed human behavior-NOT].

Well those people are lost causes as far as I am concerned. I'm not in the business of trying to "convince " people anymore. Its an old trite discussion for me and I don't have time for it.
