So a 34 year old child molester leaves her 8 month old with her molestee and then KILLS the 8 month old.

Not being dismissive of Ross and the inability of the Lousiana penal system to keep him off the streets, but that FABULOUS 34 year-old paragon of virtue should be getting charged as well.

Felony Child endangerment and aggravated child molestation sound really good to me right now.

At least Ross will now either be in prison for the rest of his life or be put to death. The mother still deserves to punished though.

I don't get it.

This past Saturday, my baby who is also 8 months old was choking on a toy he tried to swallow. We called for help, I ran around the building calling every and any neighbor who could help.

Thank God he was okay. I am going to take a class on the heimich manoever asap.

How could the mom not turn into a bear at the thought of her "cub" in the presence of a criminal, very young (TEENAGER) male?!

Its very hard to be in "selfless" mode while the kids are young -cuz it seems like they are young for so long. There is so little the mother can do during that time, and I am sure any mother (and especially a selfish or thoughtless one) wants to get out and have some life outside of changing diapers,etc.

And 8 months old is the clingy stage!

But to be able to swallow a potential threat and look the other way despite ...everything...???

My solution: Using residential billboards for PSA -maybe w/ donations from religious org.

If its too expensive, then just spray paint over what's already there. lol

Somehow a sense of value has to be pumped into those girls. If they could know that their baby is not just the mother and the father --both of which they probably have no respect for; the baby is not just the sum of all the parts but the sum plus a new, its own potential.

Would that incite jealousy instead? Okay I backtrack. First they have to want to win...

Louisiana is legally "quirky", but I'm sure they have some kind of law similar to "felony murder" where if in the course of you committing some other crime, the victim dies, you are just as guilty as anyone else involved int he crime.

But yes, this ain't a case of some clueless teenage girl who didn't know any better.

I posted this story on Facebook the other day. I had absolutely NO IDEA that the 8 month old's mother is 34 FUCKING YEARS OLD! What a sorry disgusting shitty excuse for a mother.

May she and the 17 year old BOY rot somewhere under a prison.

Gem. there is no solution for pure evil. Its been here since time began and will be here when heaven and earth pass away. This was pure evil. The solution is life without the possibility of parole (since I dont believe in the death penalty although I wouldn't shed a tear if "Tiny" in cell block D got a hold of this animal and slit his throat). Solutions are for our teens and young adults who have lost their way but they aren't "gone", solutions are what we need to fix the disparity in the educational system for our young urban and rural kids, solutions are what we need to end teen pregnancy and to stop young boys from joining gangs because its a "family", solutions are for those who are redeemable. This monster is not. None of the gore and blood stories are worthy of any solution other than the sound of the clank when the prison cell doors shut.

Leaving a child with someone who has been that violent in the past, is like leaving a gallon of gas next to open flame . It's gonna explode and you can't say you didn't know. The mother must be crazy. And while it's no answer, the child would have been far better off left alone.

Obviously, the mother has some deep rooted mental issues. I can't fathom a 34 y.o. female having a relationship with a 17 y.o. stray/child. No telling how old the absent father of the deceased child could be.

My vision of a PSA bilboard/commercial would be a child kneeled down hunched over his/her knees in a semi-dark corner with a fearful look on his/her face and an adult figure standing over that child with their fist balled up. It would read, "Be careful who you allow in your home". If it was in commerical form I would like to have horror type music and a demonic voice saying "Be careful who you invite in your home"!

That poor little baby is in a much better place now...with a 34 year old mother that would think it's appropriate to date a 17 yr old and gave her child a name like DA hyphen VON...that little child's life was probably going to be full of misery anyway.

What's to be expected of a 34 year-old child molester? She was victimizing someone else's child (albeit a rotten one) so how can anyone expect her to not treat her own child as an afterthought?

The 17 year old needs to be under the jail and I'm sure the fellow inmates will mete out some prison justice as soon as they discover what he's incarcerated for.

However, if the 34 year-old child molester has any other children, CPS should remove them from her custody before it's too late.

I'm sorry, I really enjoy this blog but what exactly are we supposed to do about stuff like this?

I mean, I understand posting it (I guess) but seriously, how can we help people like this? How can we help black women see that the type of men too many of them seem to be choosing is putting their lives and the lives of their children in grave danger? Or to take it a step further, some black women themselves are murdering their children or leaving them to raise themselves which may ultimately result in their death.

I don't get how I am supposed to feel after reading something like this (over and over). I don't feel anything but sympathy for that child and that doesn't matter because the child is dead and buried.

What are the solutions here? PSA's for women who will not even look at them?

I'm starting to really believe the mantra that those who know better simply...do better.

I've said before on this blog that I think what we are seeing in the black community is social darwinism run amok. Blacks are doing a good job of killing each other off via violence, disease, etc.

I'm not going to speak for the author of this web site. She can eloquently do that for herself.

I do think that people have to be aware that what starts with the "black community" eventually becomes a problem of "mainstream" society. It started with the out-of-wedlock birthrate, and it may have taken 30-40 years, but other racial groups are where black women used to be.

If younger / older men are now roaming around assaulting / killing defenseless women and children, how long before they move onto other targets? How will "mainstream" society respond? We're talking about the steady decay and devolution of a part of American society. It can't be walled off and ignored, eventually it will "infect" more people.

I don't know if there are any solutions. I frankly haven't a clue.

A part of me wonders if these stories are aberrations or the new norm amongst (how do I phrase this?) the black underclass / lower income / working class (?).

What is wrong with our world? What have WE (yes WE because WE are one people) done wrong that any being can grow up to do these kind of things? What aren't we doing? What can we do? I know that murderers are not born this way. So what happens in their lives that leads them to commit these horrific crimes? I am advocate for prevention. More money needs to go into prevention. The punishment part is important to but it doesn't bring back the lost lives. Let's stop them from being taken away in the first place.

I have a solution; for people who rape 8 month old babies, and the mothers who put their children at risk, knowing that the fathers are violent criminals=LYNCHING. Yes, I said it. Yes, take them out into the woods, string them up and burn the bodies. These type of people do not deserve to live.
For all of those who take issue with my words, could you imagine the agony of that baby while he was being abused by that animal? This was beyond daranged and violent. My hope is that they turn that creep over to the klan.

I have something else to add.

The Brady Bunch days are looooooong gone. If something were to happen to my husband, I have no desire to re-marry, date, partner, what ever. I'm not afraid to be un-partnered, and I REFUSE to base the purpose of my life on a man period.

I also wouldn't feel comfortable putting a complete stranger over my child.

Any one here a Dr. Phil fan? I've read nearly all his books. I recall in his Family First book that the success rates for re-marriages were low; that if the adult doesn't show up in the child's life before 3 years of age, the child will not attach; and the chances of your child being abused by your new partner increases something to 75%.

I got chewed out really bad for stating that I refuse to re-marry or seek out partnership while my child is in my care. Single-hood, and celibacy don't half to be negative things. The high pitched responses I got from the other mothers were:

1- You're human like everyone else, and you are going to get the itch.

2- If you wait until your children leave the house, you will be too old, and no man will want you.

3- There is a way to date a guy with out him knowing your children or where you live.

No where in their justifications is the concern for the safety of their children at all.

What I CAN do is strive to build healthy self-esteem, and gender awareness in my daughter. Perhaps, I might host a few tea parties, and reach out to some young girls as well. Young women need to STOP basing their existence on the affections of men period.

Another sad story that regrettably needs to be told. All I can say is 'what the hell'? This is whole hot mess (yes this is a hot mess) underscores a cancer growing in the black community and the larger mainstream society. White women have done this craziness as well like Mary LaTourneau.

As far as what can be done about it - I just think that it too far gone. Unless an act of God bestowes these women with some sense of propriety and shame. Nothing like good old fashioned shame that can be used to keep moral people in line. There are too many who have no sense of propriety or shame. PSA's will not work on these people. And yes, I heartily make the distinction. It's not about being educated or poor or religious. Educated folks can certainly act the fool. Poor folks can be profoundly righteous. And wickedness has been known to lurk among the shepards and flock.
