Homage to My Own

I ran into this over the weekend and thought ... "That is SOOO my blog audience" :). I'm writing my first speech (I'm usually on a panel) about what I do here and was looking for inspiration and I ran into it... or it ran into me. I wish someone would rip this sound and run some video featuring historical footage of Black women

"Here's to the crazy ones.

The misfits.

The rebels.

The troublemakers.

The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently.

They're not fond of rules.

And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,

disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

Because they change things.

They invent. They imagine. They heal.

They explore. They create. They inspire.

They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones,
we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do."

Amen on that! I've been called the "crazy one" by many folks including family members but when they get in a bind why do they call me to get them out of it??

My best friend says you're crazy like a fox!

I agree.
Thanks for the vindication and validation!

Very nice tribute! I'm sure at the time it didn't feel so smooth sailing for them. But they pushed anyway.

I agree.

Your blog and others is so important because- if one person can change ; or go another day; keep from being so hateful; get inspired; become enlightened; laugh again; pick themselves up out of the duldrums, then every moment you sacrifice is worth it.

Keep on keeping on.

We're the MACs and the "world" is a PC! I think many of us AA female bloggers and supporters are coming together as our thoughts and purposes begin to align. I can't wait to see how things continue to progress.
