CNN Gives Its Token Buffoon the Boot: DL Hughley Cancelled

They say it was due to "budgetary" constraints and Hugley's desire to be closer to his family. Anywho, CNN's Show, DL Hughley Breaks the News aka Dl Hughley makes me snooze has been canceled. If you will recall, Hughley is the Black woman hating mean spirited little troll that gets his jollies running around calling college-educated Black women ugly.According to TV Newser:
From CNN: "D.L. approached CNN about being permanently based in Los Angeles, where his family lives. To accommodate this, we agreed upon a new role where he will be a contributor for the network based in Los Angeles. We are eager to continue our relationship with D.L., who is a tremendous talent and a valued colleague."
Insiders tell TVNewser it would have become cost-prohibitive to produce the show in Los Angeles.
UH huh. Right. Riiiiight. Um show of hands.. How many of y'all would ask for relocation less than 6 months after starting a new gig? *crickets*
Now maybe the NABJ ( National Association of Bob Johnson) can go in search of a spine, backbone, or some other body part indicating the ability to stand for ANYTHING AT ALL and put pressure on CNN to hire a journalist of color. One more time for old time's sake...

Another victory for black women everywhere. So sorry his wife is collateral damage but something tells me she is the "ride or die" type and will stick by him.
Another loss for Ari Emanuel as he was the one who helped broker the deal for Hughley and even promised CNN "exclusives" with the White House via his bro Rahm. All lies, but CNN is run by a bunch of idiots so they believed him.

Hughley's show was instructive in that it proved that he is not that good a comedian. He substitutes a foul mouth for good writing material; and people are less accepting of the way he talks negatively about black folks, especially black women.
Oh well!
I realized why DL lost his job. He said the Republican National Convention looked like "Nazi Germany". No one in the audience laughed. It is okay for DL to insult and demean Black folks, but don't insult other folks.
Thank God he's gone. He is so unfunny and pedestrian. How could he have possibly be given a show in the first place.

You hit the nail right on its head...they brought him in to insult (and assault) black folks - not white people! That was his claim to fame, and also why I couldn't stand him, when he first hit the scene! Imagine paying all that money to go to a show to listen to this crippled coniving comedian insult you, or your spouse, or your friends! He said folks that didn't like it didn't have a sense of hunor...yeah right - we just know buffoonery when we see it!
I would love to say GOODBYE to this doofus, but I got the feeling, with that resume of disrespect (particularly for black women), he'll be put back in the limelight real soon! I hope to GOD I'm wrong!
This man has had shows on BET, Comedy Central, ABC and CNN. With all of the incredible talent out there, WHY HIM?

So glad my cash did NOT pay for that madness. Thank God it did not last long.
What took them so long?
It almost seems as if they brought him on as a way to set him up for failure.... and then they could say...well.. we tried to bring a Black host on board and it didn't work out... in other words, they may have an excuse to not give a key slot to any serious Black hosts (folks who are actually good political analysts and who have a track record).
And...as someone mentioned... it was insulting... it was like they were thumbing their noses at informed Black folks... as if Hughley was the best they could find.

(thinking of all the great Black journalists and political analysts who are not working major gigs right now...so many are locked out of the system).
I already said he took that gig because he has three kids he's sending to college and wouldn't send them to college in California, where state tuition is far cheaper than out-of-state tuition that he pays in sending his kid to an East Coast school.
A fool and his money soon part - and Mrs. Hughley has to be a "ride or die" woman to stick with him after all the jokes he cracks about how freaky she is behind closed doors (whether it's true or not is a different story).
His lameness just makes me miss Bernie Mac all the more.
It was already on too long. Now if the list of cancellations can continue...highlighting any show that continies to demean Black women. May he remain unemployed long enough for it to make a difference to his life.
I am new here and just stumbled on this post, but I just want to say that I am happy with what I hear. Everything you all are saying is what I have been thinking to myself. How the hell did he get that show? So what makes me smile is that so many black people are wondering the same thing..so that is definitley something to rejoice, we can see through the BULLSHIT!
I first saw Hughley in action years ago when I attended the Kings of Comedy tour; he was Wretched. His "act" was little more than insulting audience members and then laughing at his own mean-spirited comments. I find that there are few truly talented comedians anymore; most think that cursing, being sexually explicit, denigrating women, and boasting about nonsense as comedy. Yes comedians such as Richard Pryor cursed and talked about sexual situations, but he did spin a story that could be followed by listeners because of the fact that he had created characters with true to life and sometimes outrageous lives that mirrored folks lives. Hugley and other no-talent "comedians" destroyed Comic View on BET; I enjoy Ricky Smiley, Earthquake to name a few. What happened to Intelligent comedy?

Well since this seem to be the candid, pile-up-on-DL-site on the net, I might as well weigh in right here so DL can get all his constructive criticism in one place.
I still got a hangering in my craw to sound off on DL for saying years ago that ... "Asians already got the internet". I don't think that guy ever realized that that statement to impressionable non-Asian young people was a coded instruction to go into something other than Information Technology. I'm in this field, love it, and wish a lot more young folks of color - in addition to asians - see how much fun it is, and well paying. DL's comment to me was self defeating and his projection was unwarranted and unpardonable in the brave new world in which we live.
We are richer for having lost him. And don't come back.
