Dunbar Village Plea Deal Falls Apart

We've been talking aboutĀ Dunbar VillageĀ since August of 2007. I don't know what else to add other than I am not surprised. This means the mother and possibly the son will have to testify. "No Snitching" culture reigns supreme:
Prosecutors said a teenager who took a plea agreement in the brutal gang-rape and beating of a woman and her son in 2007 has failed to honor his side of the deal.

Jakaris Taylor agreed to testify against his co-defendants in exchange for a 20-year prison term. But Assistant State Attorney Lanna Belohlavek said the 17-year-old has declined to answer any questions about the other teens in the case.

Belohlavek filed a request late last week to vacate the agreement and have Taylor stand trial with the others in May. Taylor's attorney, Chris Haddad, declined to comment on the filing.

According to police, the Dunbar Village woman told police that about 10 masked teens sexually assaulted and beat her and her 12-year-old son in their apartment in June 2007.

Police said the suspects raped and sodomized the mother, forced her and her son to have sex with each other and then doused the two victims with cleaning solutions in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence.

Tommy Lee Poindexter, 20, Nathan Walker Jr., 18, and Avion Lawson, 15, face charges including sexual battery, kidnapping and burglary. They all face potential life sentences if convicted. WPBF

This case has generated so little interest from our so called Civil rights leaders it is a disgrace-are they fearful because it shows that some young men are just animals or is the lack of publicity a turn off for them.
When will some mothers stop raising sons who have no respect for women and themselves this whole crimewas barbaric.

Those boys were old enough to know that breaking into someone's home, and then raping and assaulting them, was wrong. Why you leap to blame their mother's for their own predatory behavior--I haven't a clue.

Some of the most vile criminal behavior can be committed by individuals whom were raised by loving and attentive people.

I just hope the Florida authorities are really interested in and are willing to do the work it will take to convict these animals. And that a jury will care enough to convict them. I'm sorry that these poor victims will have to relive their experience on the witness stand, but it will be worth it to put these animals behind bars.

These cases are already difficult to prosecute. Those perps are still not remorseful and the ones they haven't caught are running loose. I know eventually justice will be served in the after life but we really need a conviction out of this NOW. We can keep the pressure on by continuing to discuss this. I still wonder if it would be in our best interest to try to take over the agenda of these do-nothing Civil Rights organizations - only because they're still getting money from corporate America while undermining real justice and progress for Black women.

I've lived in neighborhoods where fatherless boys ran rampant and it was not safe, for women or men.

I've lived in neighborhoods where two-parent families were the norm rather than the exception. Are they perfection? No. Are they safer for women to live in than the single-mother dominated, teen-boys-run-rampant 'hoods? Absolutely. We have too many "Dunbar Villages" and we make excuses for their existence.

This case did generate support from NAACP, but they were siding with the rapists if I remember correctly.

I am not holdong mothers responsible of course absent fathers have created a generation of young boys who have no values,no morals and no respect but too many women still choose to have children with men that they barely know, men that are not reliable and men who will not marry them or be good fathers.I am sure all those rapists are from single parent households and if you as a mother does not act respectfully and set a good example why is a hatred of black women so persistent amougst too many black men we must stop making excuses for those who live with no morals and damage us.

this case gets crazier and crazier.

And it seems like no one cares.

"this case gets crazier and crazier.

We''d rather protest a stupid cartoon that virtually nobody would have seen had our fine LEADERS not brought so much national attention to it, yet this case generates silence from the Civil Rights Industrial Complex.

It is time to question whether the CRIC values Black life, to begin with....

Susan,

too many men choose to make children with women that they barely know, too many men are not reliable/abandon their kids and too many men will not marry or be good fathers.

Yes, the mothers have responsbility for their children. Yet, that is 2x the responsibility they should have.

Bring the charges, prosecute the case according to the Constitution and if convicted seek the maximum.

However, I have to say that racial disparity in the U.S. does not lie with defendants. It lies with the victims. When Blacks are the victims, particularly females, the prosecution is bewildered and disjointed. Are these types of cases hard to prosecute?

This wasn't a case the CRIC could make money off of, so that's why it's not generating any attention, as heinous as the crimes are.

And the NAACP took hits for siding with the animal thugs in the first place. Some kids can be brought up with both parents in the home and still turn out to be animals without a care for humanity at all. They are narcisstic children and I'm tired for blaming all the ills of Black people because both parents weren't in the home - it might actually be the case for those in the penal system who really need an effective defense against being railroaded into jail - but it's been used so much, all it gets from the court system is a big, fat YAWN, because it's been used so much.

These lil bastards' case should catch a Clarance Thomas-like judge - a self-hating SOB that will probably give them the death penalty with very few appeals before they get fried. If they're capable of crimes like this one, there is no hope for rehabilitation into society unless Jesus Himself intervenes. Period.

How disgusting. And this No Snitching shit needs to die yesterday. And are there still people out there defending these sick individuals?

May justice be served.
