Another Mentally Disabled Black Woman Brutally Beaten...This Time by Teen Relatives

The Blogmother
So I was wanting to do an update post on some of the stories we've covered over the past year and in doing my research on Dorothy Dixon updates, I came across this story from East St. Louis. Don't worry if you haven't heard about this. It involves a violent crime committed against a Black woman so it is inherently unnewsworthy by the editorial decision-makers in this country.
The story is that the Aunt of the disabled woman would instruct the juveniles to beat the disabled woman because the "Aunt's heart was bad." WTH??? How you gone have a bad heart and independent contract out your brutality. Well of course the juveniles would start to beat the disabled Black woman without the direction of the Aunt.
You can watch the video from police in East St. Louis. Of course while all this brutality is goign on, other fully grown Black people stood around and did absolutely nothing.
To all the people who get tired and dejected by the crimes against Black womanity posts, too bad- its not like I don't warn you in the titles what they post is going to be about. If we don't tell it, who will? I'll stop posting when Black women and girls stop being brutalized.
Two teenagers have been charged with beating their 34 year-old mentally ill and physically disabled cousin over the span of about a year, police said.
They allegedly used a broom, switch, and pipe to severely injure the female victim. A 17 year-old man and 16 year-old boy have been charged with the aggravated battery of a physically disabled person. The 34 year-old victim has been hospitalized.
Police said her bones had been broken, but wouldn't give more details about her injuries. Police are still searching for a 13 year-old suspect, and several adult suspects, who also lived in the victim's home, in the 400 block of N. 22nd Street. SOURCE

The woman's aunt, Sandra Bender, died of a massive heart attack Sept. 18 at the house. Bender had told the teenagers, who are her sons, to beat the woman "because she had a bad heart and couldn't do (the beatings)" herself, Floore said. {no he didn't stutter. He said that this sociopath independent contracted out here brutality to her kids]
"She didn't do a good job washing the dishes or cleaning up the kitchen," Ward said. Additionally, Sandra Culter believed the woman was poisoning her food and drink, and mixing her medicines, Ward said.
Sandra Bender's husband told police he was aware of the abuse. "When he tried to intervene, his wife turned against him and he had a bad heart himself, so he left it alone," [what a sorry individual]Floore said.
Two of the five children found in the home are the victim's, and took no part in the beatings. The others were the children of her first cousin, Ward said.
Ward said the woman had not left the North 22nd Street house for at least two years. She told police the home had no telephone.
"She went out onto the porch, but she never said a word to anybody about what was going on or asked anyone what she could do," he said. "The victim said she was afraid to tell anyone because they had told her not to tell anyone." SOURCE

This is not just about beating a woman. A person was deprived of their natural rights. The imagery implied in this story is especially heartwrenching. It conjures images of mentally disabled people being abused - a constant occurrance. Stories like this automatically illicit a deep empathy for the victim and a harsh contempt for the perpetrators.
I emailed Gina about another case in Montclair, NJ where a black girl with a learning disability was raped. This was in the national media for barely 2 weeks and now it seems as if this rape never happened?

Could anyone please find out anymore about this?
I have Asperger's Syndrome, so that's why violence against people with disabilites are
W. T. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
My husband's uncle is mentally and physically disabled and is 58 years old. he has lived with nearly all of his brothers and sister at one time or another. I can't imagine anyone intentionally brutalizing such a vulnerable human being.
It's almost worse (if you can quantify those things) than child abuse because children often attend school, have friends and are not generally considered outcasts or "retards". These people have so little access outside o their immediate caregivers (or brutalizer) so people are more apt to just sit back and watch, especially black folks.
Another case of a deranged woman raising black boys to become psychopaths. Something has got to change.
In 2008 I see some black folks are still imitating the slave master. We will never progress until a majority of us break the chains of mental slavery. We have so many books out there that we can even read for free from the library about mental health and psychology and how to care for them. What about common decency that you don't have to get from a book.
It is a slave mentality that people think some how a messiah (Obama) being in the White House will all of a sudden make black people change destructive behaviors. I see people who don't know how to raise their kids talking about how Obama in the White House will inspire them.
It was obviously somehow cut short...
I have Asperger’s Syndrome, so that’s why violence against people with disabilites are something I fight against.
READ THIS - A MOTHER BEATS 2 CHILDREN TO DEATH AND PLACES THEM IN A FREEZER http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/29/AR2008092900796.html?hpid=topnews&sid=ST2008092900858&s_pos=
I personally am glad that you are posting these stories. Black women as well as everyone else needs to hear the truth. There is a disregard for the lives of black women by many within black America...men AND women. If we don't expose the harsh realities, we'll never overcome.
Thanks for the story Gina. In the very least, I can take solace and consolation in the fact that one of the responsible persons suffered terribly. Because of her contempt for the defenseless family member, is now a pleasant snack for maggots. Good Riddance!
Now if only the same level of pain and abuse can be inflicted upon the apathetic husband, and the little teen sociopaths, that would be sublime!
I am disgusted.
I, too, am disgusted!
I'm a strong advocate of sterility. It's too bad the court system as well as protective services is so overwhelmed. There's a problem when a mentally disabled person has 2 children 'lost' in the system. There needs to be more accountability by agencies dispensing not only medical care but monies as well.
Sounds to me like all of these people had some mental issues. In either case, the boys should do some jail time and get some conseling so that they don't come out of jail with the same mentality and a hell of a worse attitude...
I agree with Black Adam.. not to make excuses but they all seem sick at some point.
its still trifling though.
Sigh. Speechless.
Thank you for having the courage and HUMAN DECENCY to shine a spotlight on these stories. If not for you, I fear that few people would know these stories and, as a consequence, little would be done to punish those involved. Thank you for standing up for us.
