Is Your Child in the Los Angeles Unified School District? Brewing Abuse Scandal

WAOD reader R. Banks passed this on. It is a compilation of rampant charges of abuse scandals at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). I have already posted one grim story for the week so I won't wear you out, but if you are interested in reading more you can go here?

I'm tired of it too. I am working on my own own "solutions" they just don't lend themselves to blog posts.

The mainstreme media has to remain silent on this one. Otherwise, they have to take on a teachers unions that cripple a district's ability to rid itself of predator teachers.

It's the same sad issue. The same union that protect the good teachers, protects the bad as well...and the children suffer. I've heard stories of unions that couldn't fire teachers "even though" the teachers was "currently" incarcerated.

The teacher's due process would've been jeopardized. So, while in jail, the union reps, teacher, and school representatives actually conducted some kind of board review and I think EVENTUALLY after all avenues were exhausted, they were able to dismiss the teacher....with pay.

Things like this ALWAYS happens, I even remember hearing about how a student and a teacher were having sex in the teacher's office in middle school. But of course, you wouldn't hear about it on the news unless you was a Catholic schoolboy.

Yet another reason why teacher's unions are doing more harm than good these days.

Black parents can do a few "radical" things if they want to see some changes in their school districts:

1)vote in school board elections for fiscally conservative candidates who will cut the top-heavy administration that is doing nothing but collecting checks and buying expensive cars.

2)support voucher programs so you can get your kids out of these cespools

3)if at all possible, homeschool your children

I live in Los Angeles and my husband and I have already decided that if we can't afford private tuition by the time our daughter goes to pre-k, we will cut back on our lifestyle so one of us can stay home and educate our children in a safe environment. I know not everyone has this option but if you do, I suggest you try to make it work.

The Los Angeles Unified School District has already said that it has too many competing interests to effectively handle these types of issues. The powerful bilingual education lobby and other groups strong arm the district into prioritizing politics over safety. And since democrats want to keep their political stronghold in Los Angeles by catering to latino voters they refuse to offer any candidates for superintendent or school board that will make any real change.

The public school system is a sinking ship.

Unfortunately this is a nationwide problem that has been going on for generations! My mother told me about her principal having a child with one of her high school classmates and that was in the 60's. Everyone in that small town knew but remained quiet and he wasn't held accountable and was able to retire as a principal from that same school!

Parents have to do right by their kids and be vigilant before or after this mess happens and hold these people accountable. My daughter's teachers know me and I have NO qualms about questioning ANYTHING I find to be suspect.

Children have to be protected priorities in this country!
