Kwame Kilpatrick Jail House Vigil Open Thread

I really don't have anything to say. The man is in jail. I don't believe in kicking folks while they are down and it doesn't get more down than being locked up. So feel free to comment and leave links to interesting posts about Kwame Kilpatrick. This is all very sad. Sad for the city. Sad for the family, and yes, even sad for him. All that talent and all those gifts SQUANDERED!

I say this seriously. Unless he is illiterate and cannot understand English he knew what he was doing when he left the country. He fully understood that he had to report to the authorities. I have never been in the situation that he is in but even I know that you do not leave the country when you are in trouble like he is. The only other option (still not an excuse) is that he was not sober when he left the country. It appears that he feels that he is above the law. Maybe sitting in jail and being punished for something might help. He does not appear repentant at all. He is showing absolutely no respect for his wife and children by his behavior. It is bad enough if he were single like myself with no children. It is a million times worse because he is dragging his wife and children through this. He cares nothing about them or else at this point he would do everything the law told him to do. His wife chose to stay with him knowing that some other madness could occur. However his children did not ask to be born into their household. His shenanigans being reported across the nation and probably outside the US means nothing to him. If he really does not understand the consequences of his actions he need psychiatric help and should be immediately removed from office. Why his wife continues to expose her children to this I will never know. This is a truly sad train wreck.
