Did Karl Malone Impregnate at 13 Year Old Girl? R. Kelly Trial Update
Monday, May 5, 2008 at 8:37AM The Blogmother Michael David Smith , a White male reporter wonders why no attention is being paid to the fact that at 19 or 20 years old, Karl Malone may have had sexual intercourse with a 12 or 13 year old girl who went on to give birth to his child which he did not acknowledge or support.
When we learned that Buffalo Bills draft pick Demetrius Bell was the son of NBA legend Karl Malone, and that Malone played no part in Bell's upbringing, it was a story that made a lot of people sad. And then when the Buffalo News reported that Bell's mother was 12 or 13 when Malone got her pregnant, it was a story that made a lot of people angry. But it's a story that the mainstream media has almost completely ignored. As far as I can tell, only two newspapers, the Buffalo News and Los Angeles Times, have made any mention of the report that Gloria Bell was 13 years old when she gave birth to Demetrius. Now you have to remember that before Karl Malone went off to college, he had already fathered two twins with a girl when he was in high school. HE never acknowledged the twins until they became basketball stars and people started asking questions. He purportedly only paid $125 a month to the twin's mother despite making MILLIONS. All this in a week where the media was in a tizzy over Roger Clemens having some type of relationship with Mindy McCready when she was apparently 15. Well the reason Mindy and Roger get attention and the 13 year-old Gloria Bell gets NO attention is because in the minds of many, you can't sexually exploit a Black girl. It is an impossibility. Just like antebellum slave holders in the minds of many, there is no such thing as a virtuous Black girl. They certainly don't need the protection of the law from sexual predators and no, all predators aren't hiding in the bushes in a rain coat with a knife in hand. As long as she wasn't kicking, screaming, and clawing, there can be no crime, even if she was kicking, screaming and clawing, if a Black girl is the victim of a crime, she has to prove her innocence and that she didn't make any foolish mistakes in judgement because if she did. heaven help her, because even at 11 years Black girls are imputed with the judgement of a fully grown woman. She should have known better folks will say.His mother, Gloria Bell, reportedly was only 13 years old and Malone a college sophomore at Louisiana Tech when Demetrius was born. Malone might have served jail time had her family asked the district attorney to file criminal charges.Bell didn’t even know Malone was his father until after graduating from high school. When they finally met, Malone told the 18-year-old Bell it was too late to be his father, and that Bell would have to “earn his money on his own.”In a 1998 story in the Salt Lake (Utah) Tribune, Gloria Bell said, “Demetrius is ashamed that his dad doesn’t claim him. But I’ve told him it is not his fault.” Buffalo News.
I have read several Black bloggers and online activists refer to statutory rape as a victim-less crime, just young men being young men (GENARLOW WILSON) well tell that to the 13 year old giving birth and her child. Tell that to the purported 48% of teenage Black girls that purportedly are infected with an STD while their Hispanic and White counterparts are infected at half the rate.
Victim-less crime my arse! Tell that to the grandparents that had to raise two sets of kids while Karl off making millions and marrying Ms. Idaho!
R. Kelly Update
Speaking of old men and boys who prey on underage African American girls with impunity, Robert Kelly may be dealt a setback. According to the Chicago Sun Times, while the suspected victim is keeping mum, a third woman, , is prepared to testify that when she participated in a three-way with R. Kelly and the suspected victim. :
According to some gossip blogs, you can take it with a grain of salt, R. Kelly paid off the girl in the notorious videotape and she is denying that she is the one on the tape.A woman is set to testify at R. Kelly’s upcoming child pornography trial that she had a three-way sexual encounter with Kelly and the allegedly underage girl shown in the video at the heart of the case.the prosecution’s new witness could undermine that defense, since she will identify the girl, sources with knowledge of the matter told the Chicago Sun-Times. In addition, the witness is expected to say the girl was underage at the time of their encounter. “She was involved in a threesome with [the girl] and R. Kelly,” one source said. Sun Times
The pretrial hearings have been under seal, but the AP and the Sun Times are suing to gain access, the Trial is scheduled to start May 9th. We'll keep you posted.

Sickening. I've never liked Karl Malone. Now, I like him even less. I'm going to mention this at my blog over at daddyBstrong.blogspot.com and refer people to you for more discussion about this. Amazing.
I guess I need to talk to Demetrius because not being claimed by a walking sperm bank may be the BEST thing, outside of being born and then drafted in NFL to happen to him.

I used to like Karl Malone, now I see him for the loathesome pig he really is. Actually, that's insulting to pigs. Pigs at least have some honor and dignity and take care of their offspring.

Ok, someone help me figure this out cause I'm confused. So that makes her guilty and Kelly right? Or was she underage also? Which would make Kelly guity in another underage case. Kelly is off the chain.
Another example of too many people rationalizing the inappropriate behavior of males; Black males especially. The cycle will never stop as long as the victims, family members and communities continue to attempt to explain it away. I look forward to the day when young women start to report this as statuatory rape. Not everyone shound think that grandchild is so cute that they don't speak up; or that the behavior is acceptable. There are already too many people in this world.
I'm not violent but this makes me want to take a bat to the knee caps of Kelly and Karl Malone.

This is very distressing and disturbing news...
It is sad...perhaps...sickening is a better word for it...that there is BROAD acknowledgment in the black community that dudes regularly stand around leering at girls - and making comments about their body parts to other dudes AND to the girls - and there is NO backlash from men or from women! Our black girls in the ghetto do not feel safe - they feel leered at and preyed upon. Are we (adults) listening? Are we?
If there is an acceptance of the commodification and objectification of black women, then it will always result in the rape of our girls and the demoralization of our black girls.

There is some backlash from SOME men. Not all black men are trifling and oversexed. I know I'll check a negro in a heart beat when I see him oogling a girl child. I even chide my heterosexual male friends for dating girls in their early 20's because most of them are in their mid to late 30's. Besides, sex what can two people nearly 20 years apart POSSIBLY have in common with each other?
What I find disturbing though is the fact that grown women don't view themselves as worthy enough to not have to settle for that. It's as though some women reduce their own self worth to being objects. For some, such an identity is empowering.
How do you combat that?
Yeah I read the article and was like WTF! Of course we know R Kelly isn't the only one. I remember feeling under threat at the age of 12 from older boys and men that I started wearing really baggy clothes and overeating to gain weight. The culture of protecting Black men by overlooking the safety of Black women and girls must stop!
I was so sick when I read this story over the weekend.
That girl was either 12/13 when she became pregnant. And her parents decided not to go after a statutory rape case. I hope and pray it was not in the foolish belief that we must not stop a "brother" from progressing. As he really showed his gratitude by having nothing to do with the child. And how can anyone say this is a victimless crime. What did that young boy think growing up?
And then the foolishness with Sean Combs. He got his star in Hollywood and had all his "family" around him. So what happened to the other baby girl? He has written her off completely.
Why is it so easy for black men/women to write off black girls so easily? A young pregnant 13 years old. Oh that is okay no big deal. A little baby girl who had no choice in who her parents are just written out of her father's life.
unfortunately, many women that are mothers now, had the same thing happen to them that is happening with these young black girls. (it also happens with other races also). It is An attack on all women and young girls.
I have a friend (in her early 30's), who looking for support and guidance- when she told her aunties why she was leaving her husband because of his mess and anger, etc...they told her..oh that is just how it is, you just over look it- we did....
lol well my friend saw a whole new side to them.
and she did not ignore it nor take --she took her child and left.
many women saw rapes, and beatings, etc...happen to other women as they were growing up and i guess think "that is the way it is to be".
it is a cycle of ignorance and fear that allows their silence to keep the stuff these men/boys do to women and young girls undercover.
I also am grateful that mr malones son was given a very bright path to succeed on. that is really amazing that he has gotten this far with NO HELP at all from his famous and rich sperm donor. so good that the curse of the father has not been passed on to him. (I pray it will not surface later).

I look forward to the day when society start taking statutory rape seriously and for these predators to stop taking advantage of these young emotionally vulnerable females. That way society won’t have a need to question or put the shameful burden on the young victims to have to report anything in the first place.
So why didn't the Kelly 3-some woman go to police with this information?
If the woman was the age of consent, how could she allow a GROWN ASS man to urinate, sodomozie and rape a 14 year-old girl and immortalize it by videotaping it?

I don't think Karl Malone was a scumbag for telling his Demetrius the truth. Demetrius was probably in his late teens or already a grown man when he finally met his sperm donor.
The ONLY thing they can be at this point are friends, nothing more. The guidance, relationship-building , and the parent-child dynamic cannot apply when a parent has been absent during the COMPLETE rearing of their biological child. What, if anything, can sperm donor Karl impart into Demetrius Bell's life?
Absolutely NOTHING.
To pretend to be anymore than that is detrimental to both. Karl if he hasn't forgiven himself for leaving his by-product of sexual intercourse and Mr. Bell if he harbors any resentment towards the sperm donor for being absent.
They are strangers to one another and NOTHING will ever change the past. They can only move forward.
P.S. The presumption of black male hypersexuality and masculinity have more to do with the production of bastard children than the influence of celebrity and professional sports.
There are way more broke brothers having unprotected sex with multiple partners producing bastards and driving the increase in the spread of STDs.

I don't know if the world is sicker than I ever imagined or if as a result of blogging, I get a disproportionate number of hat tips regarding stories where people are engaged in utter complete foolishness and general evil. I need to go on a blog vacation.

I don't care about any relationship developing between the fathers and their child. When the choice was made to have sex with underage women and then the child arrives it's already on the wrong track. But they should never be allowed to neglect their financial responsibilities. Certainly not in the case of any man that makes plenty of money!
like i said before, our community really needs to take a stand. I can't angry when I see grown men some who look like my age pulling up at middle school and high schools trying to holla. wtf?
this is real sick. I am not into sports anymore or into celeb stuff, but this is sickening. THe unfortunate part is that this is more common than we think not just in sports.

I think there is something we are over looking here. Karl's child DEMETRIUS, whom he fathered while in college, and one of the twin girls, CHERYL FORD whom he fathered before he went away to college, both became professional basketball players!
This is very rare for children of under age mothers, not to speak of children, from two parent families. The competition to get into the NBA and WNBA is too fierce!
Is it possible that Malone gave the children to his mother - Shirley Malone to raise, the same way she raised him?
Was he giving his mother money for them?

It still appears from the accounts that are out there that he denied them the amount of financial support they deserved. That appears to be the norm in our communities not the exception.
Karl Malone's behavior is the epitome of trifling.
I'm sure Bell had no intention of acting like Karl Malone was his father, but for Karl to just shut him down and blow him off just appalls me.
It angers me so much to hear about BM slinging sperm like seed spreader fertilizing a lawn. Too many excuses are made.
Karl Malone has no idea what the future holds. I hope he gets back what he's put out in spades.

There are two sides to every story and everyone is hearing one and jumping to conclusions. Karl is a great person, I know him personally and the care and concern he has shown to my autistic son is unbelievable. I think alot of us had teen years that we thought with something other than our head and I am sure Gloria looked way over 13 or he would never have been with her.
