No market in NY for the BTNC? :-( They're gonna have to work on that :-D
I'm really looking forward to this channel as it is time that we deliver our news in our voices. There's only so much that we can demand of White media outlets.
I really don't like to see our stories being spliced away, trivialized, and turned into snippets. And I also don't like to see our commentators peppered in with White commentators only to be to talked over or told to http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/13/pat-buchanan-loses-his-co_n_91276.html" REL="nofollow">"shut up".
I know this is not pc but to be honest I very little to no faith in this new black network. I have seen BET, BETJ and The Black Family channel and all have had terrible production values that I have never seen on any other channel. They are almost as bad a Public Access. TV One is the first black network to be on point in that department.
People always like to talk about the BET Nightly News and it wasn't all that great either. They had their host in the studio and used all their CBS local affliates for the stories, so basically it was still the big networks determining what stories we see.
Are they going to have reporters actually do some research and stories like on 60 minutes or just going to get their stories form the AP wire and Drudge like the networks and black radio news do? I really hope this network will do BBC or NPR quality type of work. BBC doesn't have all the flashy graphics but they get in depth into the story.
Awesome. I'll be there. Hopefully Mr Watts will decide to stay a little longer... I'm curious about the network.
Great Job Gina....
I'll have to call in to see what Mr. Watts has planned.
