MIchelle Obama on Pastor Wright: They Finally Let Her Out of That Undisclosed Location

They finally let Michelle Obama out from that undisclosed location after she said she was proud of her country and Bill O'Reiley said he would consider whether to lynch her or not. She spoke with CNN's Suzanne Malveaux, another sister, about Pastor Jeremiah Wright's Pre-Book Tour:

During several appearances this week, Wright seemed to suggest the U.S. government might be responsible for the spread of AIDS and said Obama had only distanced himself from the minister for political reasons.

"That wasn't the speech of a political opportunist," Michelle Obama said of her husband's widely praised speech on race relations, made when Wright's controversial sermons first came to light. "Barack has been trying to bridge gaps all his life."

She said it's time for the campaign to move forward from the controversy and return the focus to issues like the economy and health care.

"With all due respect, we're moving forward," she said. "Barack was so clear, and he's been so open about this issue, and he speaks for me as well." CNN.com

Watch the video. Y'all didn't think Obama was going to coast right into the White House did you? I've been telling some of the Obama acolytes in my Black blogger Google Group ( The AfroSpear) that they need to commence psychological counseling because if they think this is bad, its going to get a lot worse once the Democratic party ratifies that he is the official nominee. I have previously spoken about why it would be political suicide for the Democrats to hand the nomination to Hillary. Tis better to lose the White House to McCain for 4 years and to lose their rock solid Black voter base for a generation...or two.

So Michelle, it is good to see they let you out of that undisclosed location. We were beginning to wonder.

Don't be so sure that the Obama going to be he nominee. It may be political suicide for the dems but its political suicide to let this primary continue too and they haven't stopped it.

And they haven't stopped because they don't really want the guy to be the nominee and they're hoping that he gets bloodied enough that they can crown Hillary despite the numbers.

"See, he's not electable they will say."

We'll c how this plays out. But we know the Dems like to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Good post. Mrs. Obama is just the kind of intelligent, family woman to give the White House some class.

By the way, she has been out on the stomp. But the "gotcha" racist corporate media doesn't like to report on her, unless she says something they sensationalize or characterize as controversial. Funny how racism works, isn't it?

Hi Gina,

I know this has nothing to do with the subject but I wanted to know if you were going to discuss the Congo's horrific rapes and sexual slavery incidents. This is rampant in the D.R. of Congo. Imagine the Dunbar village gang rape happening to 100,000's of women, teenage girls, little girls and sometimes men and boy

There is a courageous documentary, The Greatest Silence that aired on HBO.

There are ways we can help the congolese women and children who have survived horrific rapes.

Please visit their websites:

www.womenforwomen.org:

Please sponsor a woman if you can.

It is $27.00 a month.

The money goes directly to the victims and keeps them in their program for one year. They also recieve monthly cash.

http://www.stephenlewisfoundation.org/panzi.htm

The Stephen Lewis foundation is building a victim support center next to Panzi Hospital. Panzi hospital is the hospital that specialize in gynelogical surgeries for victims of sexaul crimes. Dr. Denis Mukwege is the compassionate and selfless Director of Panzi Hospital and the only surgeon. He does up to 10 surgeries a day and no less than
3, I believe.

The money will go directly to the Panzi support center.

Here is an interesting article related to genital snatching and voodoo.

I think the national unrest that would result if Senator Obama is ahead in the ways that matter, and manages to not be the nominee would be devestating. If he loses the election that would be easier to explain than losing the Democratic nomination.

If Obama does not get the nomination after leading in pledged delegates and popular votes, it would be too much trauma on my psyche.

Why is it so bad for Hillary to win? Both candidates are decent choices. If Barack gets the nomination the republicans are gonna be brutal. I think they already have some ammo waiting in the wings.

I think the point everyone is making, rocknrollsista, is that if she is "given" a nomination she did not earn by any of the established metrics (established metrics that the DNC put in place).

Then what does that say about the DNC and our political process as a whole? It says to me, that my vote doesn't count no matter what. It also, fairly or not, leaves the impression that the Dems are just Republican's light and they will never allow a person of color (no matter how qualified)to represent their parties and potentially lead our country.

Ok. here is my take,

I am very annoyed and even sickened by people. Rev Jeremiah Wright is a prominent minister. He is nationally known and considered to be one of the greatest ministers in this country. He has been awarded for years but people now televise it because they have made him notorious and they are trying to hurt Obama. He was at the NPC last year if some people would try and care to find out.

WAOD, you sit here and talk about women's issues yet it was Wright who made one of the best sermons about the value and beauty of black women. He talked about how black men need to be better fathers to their children and better husbands to their wives. He spoke about all that. Yet you choose to demonize him with the white corporate media.

People choose his most controversial talking points to demean him when they dont know him. They dismiss him for yes politcal reasons.

I love Michelle and Barack but they sat in that church for what 20 years. Obama's message of change and hope come from Wright but Wright is an issue.

Wright did not ask to be notorious. The media did it. He was quiet and refused interviews for a year. It wasn't until last month when he decided to speak out.

Black people want him to shut up because white people may hear him and they wont like it. We need Obama in the white house at all costs. I support Obama but sometimes I wonder if black people are supporting him for the right reasons. The problems in our community are still going to exist and he will not be the person, nor can he be the person to combat them. We will need loud and wise voices to combat these issues and speak on them. The things that Wright has done for his community are just wonderful. My close friend's mother who died of AiDS (given to her in a public clinic in Chicago in 1997 when they should have been checking but of course she is poor and black with three kids so they dont care), can give you wonderful accounts of the AIDS ministry at the church.

For those of you who do not know pre-2004 Obama, he has changed. I like Obama but when it comes to certain issues, I tune him out. He is running for president of America, so he has to say what the dominant commuity wants to hear. Wright has helped him on many fronts in case some of you dont know.
