Kwame Kilpartick Charged with Perjury, Obstructions, Official Misconduct

In that Detroit Melodrama involving about a half a dozen prominent Black women, Christine Beatty, the paramour, Carolyn Cheeks Kilpartick, the Mama, Carlita, the wife and Kim Worthy, the prosecutor... and growing, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been charged with perjury, obstruction and misconduct in office. In addition to all of you who say this is a private matter, the prosecutor had this to say:

"Some have suggested that the issues in this case are personal or private," Worthy said.

“At every bend and turn, there have been attempts by the city through one lawyer or another to block aspects of our investigation,” Worthy said. “Some documents have been turned over, but we have been told that others have been destroyed or lost. We don’t know when or by whom.”

She said the investigation wasn’t about sex, but about destroying the lives and careers of three good cops.

“Gary Brown’s, Harold Nelthrope's and Walter Harris’ lives and careers were forever changed,” Worthy said. “They were ruined financially and their reputations were completely destroyed because they chose to be dutiful police officers.”

She added: "Our investigation has clearly shown that public dollars were used, people's lives were ruined, the justice system severely mocked and the public trust trampled on." Freep.com

. As for Christine Beatty, she's been charged as well:

Beatty is charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury in a court proceeding and two counts of perjury other than in a court proceeding.

The Detroit Free Press has extensive coverage, including the cheers that broke out when Worthy announced the charged:

When Worthy announced perjury and other felony charges against Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty, cheers erupted in the diner packed with 35 people on Jefferson.

Edward Baxter, 47, of Detroit toasted a full cup of water with several other patrons.

"He's got to go," Baxter shouted.

"It's about time," he said. "This scandal has gone on long enough. I'm disappointed that the mayor let me down, but he has to go. He put it on himself."

Donna Murray, 52, of Detroit said she is completely impressed with Worthy.

"She's excellent. She broke everything down in layman's terms," she said. "I think she's being fair." FREEP.COM

My heart and prayers go out to Kwame Kilpatrick's wife and their children.

If he represents good character then we're doomed! If I was a believer in prayer I would pray for all the people he's victimized- none would be for him. He deserves the consequences of what he created.

Such an a$$hole he is. How can one person be so wrong yet so intransigent?

And to think his mammy actually supports this foolishness! At least Ms. Beatty has the decency not to make so many public comments about her wrongness. She also took the high road and resigned. It's a shame that this Chitlin' Eatin' Negro (CEN) is too much a cowardly jack ass to do the same.

He would rather see Detroit FINALLY become hell on earth (it's always been on the brink) and won't be satisfied until he further embarrasses himself and the citizens of Day-twat.

Burn in hell KK... with a gasoline jockstrap on.

No wonder Detroit is in such bad shape. If the applause is any response of his response, Detroit is SCREWED.

They can't afford to waste millions of dollars on his nonsense.

I listened to Michael Baisden yesterday and he was talking about Kwame. He waited until Kwame was indicted to talk about Kwame's foolish actions. And now, Michael and some other jokers in Detroit are trying to spin the madness to make it seem like Kwame catching charges is just an attack on the city of Detroit. Give me a break. Kwame lied under oath. Kwame used tax payers dollars to send love messages to his Chief of Staff. Kwame had strippers dancing for him at the mayoral mansion. If there is an attack on the city of Detroit, it is being led by it's mayor; Not people that want him to resign and not the state's attorney that had him indicted. Black folks need to wake up and stop sippin' on the kool aid that is being handed out by people like Michael Baisden, Al Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. "Wake Up!" -School Daze, Spike Lee.
