Is Hillary Mocking Obama? Missed Opportunities and Turning the Obama Campaign into a "Cult"

She isn't alone MSM is starting to run with the narrative that the Obama phenomenon looks like a cult or something like what hit the nation during the Beatles craze. I saw a piece on Night Line that basically said as much. just do a Google news Search for "Obama cult" (Oh forget it, I did it for you). They are starting to refer to him as a messiah... and Obama's campaign, rightfully, is beginning to get alarmed:
Now critics are quietly voicing the fear that Mr Obama and his campaign have deliberately adopted the tone and tactics of an evangelical preacher, whipping up “Obamamania” at the expense of more serious discussion of policy and government. There is “something just a wee bit creepy about the mass messianism” deployed by the black senator and his supporters, observed Joe Klein,...

A senior Obama official, who would talk only on condition of anonymity, told The Sunday Telegraph that the campaign was worried that the cult charges would stick and harm their candidate. He acknowledged that Mr Obama generated wild enthusiasm and devotion among young fans - most of them voting for the first time - but insisted this was due to the senator’s “charisma and the political inspiration that informs his speeches.” The Sunday Telegraph

so Hillary is picking up on that riff. Hillary Clinton in a campaign appearance in Providence Rhode Island basically indicated that Barack Obama wanted to part the sky and wave a magic wand to solve problems. She is tapping into a common criticism of Barack Obama non-stans.

Now the folks over at Jack and Jill aren't pleased. I think that their reaction should be different, this could be a "Howard Dean Scream" moment. It will no doubt be a You tube Hit. But to answer their question. NO, she doesn't take him seriously. They think he is a light weight who came out of nowhere to steal her thunder.

You might want to read Obama Turns Hillary into Bill Richardson.
And, worst of all for Bill and Hill, the Dems found a new star – their first in 16 years. Look at it from Hillary's point of view: She'd expected to run against the likes of Joe Biden, Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd – the usual mediocrities and misfits. Then Barack Obama came along, and did what the Clintons did in 1992 – saw his opportunity and seized it. All of a sudden, she's the Bill Richardson – worthy but dull, earthbound and joyless, lead weights round her ankles.

I had been thinking the same thing. Hillary could have run in 2004, but she did take her chance when she would have run against a group of men with little to no charisma and would have likely won the nomination. but she hesitated and she waited. But history is strewn with failed Presidential hopes because a candidate got in too early or too late. By not running in 2004, she too a huge risk that she would have another window of opportunity and the risk she ran was that someone would come along who could beat her. That person is Obama who did just the opposite of what she did.

Obama is in the same position she was in in 2004 IDENTICAL- partially through his first term as a Senator and instead of waiting and hoping that the window of opportunity would be open in four years, he took a chance and went for it. So She isn't just dealing with a string of ten defeats, but probably kicking herself for not taking her moment 4 years ago.

Sometimes when a window of opportunity opens, it is only open once and you either crawl through it or you miss your shot. He crawled through. She didn't she waited and that has GOT to be additional salt in th wound.

That being said. This thing ain't over until I hear a concession speech outta one of them.

I really wish that Billary would go away already.

LOL at her chastising Obama like he's some little boy about "attacking another Democrat about healthcare." SMH at her worrying about the party when it's convenient for her. All those race-baiting tactics and thoughtless remarks that her and Bubba made couldn't possibly hurt the party.

And why does support for Obama have to be a cult? Utter foolishness. Barry's really wearing Hillary down.

I'm getting the sneaking suspicion Hillary is no longer trying to win in 2008, but is setting herself up for 2012 by undermining Obama's chances in the general election. The type of over the top attacks that (i) he plagarizes (ii) he has a messiah complex, (iii) he's all talk no action, mirror attackes mccain has made recently--and go more towards attacking Obama's character rather than his policy stances. Maybe I have to much of a c-o-n-spiracy mindset but her scorched earth campaign style of late seems like it runs the obvious risk of seriously hurting Obama in the fall. But it seems like HRC could care less.

Anyone who knows Washington knows that it's a different ball game there. Continue to swallow the BS hype of Obama and wash it down with some kool-aid that tastes like water & sugar. Hillary is offering us the real. She can deliver. Pretty words are just that. It's not that I am against Obama, but I feel like he's just full of it. Maybe in some other dimension we could aspire to his alleged loftier goals. But right now we have an international mess to clean up and a national mess that is beyond repair. Pretty words don't do work. We'll be stuck with G.W. II if we elect this man.

Rainy,
Didn't Senator Clinton contribute to the international mess that 'needs to be cleaned up?' What exactly makes her more experienced, because she ran with the other male dogs of Capital Hill? Because she assimilated to their world view, politics and tactics longer than Obama?

We don't need a woman to lead our country during a time when so many countries don't value women. How would Senator Clinton over come this? Even within our own country. I don't think Nancy Pelosi has really been able to lead like 'people' thought. I welcome a new face; new ideas and new hope. Senator Clinton boasts of her 16 years as some of the 'best' yet there are those who would beg to differ.

First of all, don't let your issues with Hillary turn into some generalized argument for why women can't lead a nation. You for get that the British Empire was lead by women. Margaret Thatcher was a woman. Germany is being run by a woman. Most American, in particluar African American households are headed by women.

I mean both side's supporters can find PLENTY to attack either candidate with, but please don't come on a blog called What About Our Daughters and make the argument that Hillary's gender makes her incapable of leading the nation.

I am sure there are plenty of folks saying the same thing about Obama's race as well.

Gina, as I write this, I am seething!!!! I was not completely for Obama early on in the race. I did not know much about him and was actually leaning towards Edwards. I started to learn more as any voter should do, and after Edwards dropped out, I went to Obama. I do not dislike Hillary, but unlike some, I remember some of the mishaps during the 1990s like NAFTA. THEN, her squad decided to flip out! I am watching Countdown, and I think she has lost it or her handlers are completely thrown by this contest. They thought it was sewn up for her and when the black guy came at them hard they had no plan. Now they are going to the black bag. They have tried bashing hope, bashing his wife, calling him a word thief, and now they are trying to scare white folks with pictures of him in traditional dress. I am done. It's a wrap. Hillary has lostt any respect I had for her. Bill cannot wrap it up for her. She says Obama has no record. Look at the bills he introduced! Some got passed and others haven't, but he has a record. Either she was asleep in the Senate, or she is lying. I will go with lying. I, for one, am tired of the black bag tricks. I do not for one minute believe Obama is the be all and end all in politics, but I will say he has outmatched her completely! I have also gotten a bit ticked at the white feminist women who are trying to rally against him. Can you not see the whole: "who is this NEGRO man challenging the pure WHITE woman?" I see that brewing, and if that happens, I hope we get behind him. I do not know if he will do all he says he will do. I hope he gets half of it dome, but I am surely not voting for Hillary.
That's my rant. I had to tell somebody!

I hope my posts didn't insinuate that women can't lead, the problems are Hilary's actions, not her gender. The thing is, when women who have progressive politics dare to run for national or international leadership, they are ignored by both men and women because ALL of us were brought up under western ideals of what leadership is (white skin, having military might at your disposal, titles, and charisma...). We won't accept any other KIND of leader unless they fall into that frame work. They must assimilate to western patriarchal values. That is why I do not have faith in either Hilary or Obama as being the alternatives to right-wingers. Can anyone honestly say that Democrats stood for what they claim they stood for back in the 30s in this present day?

p.s., Thatcher ran Britain, but she too was assimilated, a right-winger, a union buster, and administered over one of the worse economic periods in Britain.

I'm not saying a woman can't lead a country- I'm aware of Africa; South America and other examples...but we were talking about Senator Clinton in particular. However I still believe that this country doesn't need her as our first woman president. We've damaged our relationship with many countries; with some we can't even communicate with. In regards to Senator Clinton she appears to struggle with who she is and what she wants to portray. I don't feel any sense of loyalty towards Hillary because of her gender; no more than any loyalty towards Obama because of his race. I identify with both of them, but it takes more than that to obtain my vote in the end.
