Am I Going To Have to Get An "Obama" T-shirt? - Bob Johnson is Still The DeviL

Of all the people to attack Barack Obama and defend Billary's racial street cred, tell me WHY? WHY? WHY? did they have to drag out Bob Johnson, multimedia crack cocaine dealer, hater of working class Black people, and exploiter of African American women and children? They are either desperate, stupid, or out of touch to believe that such a reviled figure such as smut peddling Bob Johnson would provide them cover in the Black community. She might as well have grabbed Don Imus to come stump with her in South Carolina.

Oh yes my people, BOB JOHNSON had the audacity to TRY to attack Barack Obama. Now Y'all know that I am no fan of Barack Obama- I don't thin Obama cares anymore about working class Black folks than any of the other candidates. I also find many of his most fervent supporters well... annoying with their "support Barack or ELSE" mentality, but you could have knocked me over with a feather when these comments by Bob "Beelzebub" Johnson started cropping up on the wires.

"To me, as an African American, I am frankly insulted the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues — when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood; I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in his book — when they have been involved," Johnson said. SOURCE

Oh the VIDEO is worse!

“to say these two people would denigrate the accomplishments of civil rights marchers… and to expect us to now say we are attacking a black man? I mean, that kind of campaign behavior does not resonate with me, for a guy who says ‘I wanna be a reasonable, likeable, Sidney Portier ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’?’ I’m thinking to myself, ‘this ain’t a movie Sydney, this is real life!’” SOURCE

Well Bobby J. To me as an African American woman, i am insulted that you think working class Black people and their children, their daughters in particular, are stupid and disposable. If Bill and Hillary are so DEEPLY and emotionally involved in Black issues, then how emotional are they about the degradation of Black woman and girls by YOU?

Your reputation cannot be redeemed. You are what you have always been: A Parasite!

Here is a letter I drafted in response. Feel free to spread it around. This is ridiculous!

Today Bob Johnson, founder of (BET)Black Exploitation Television, made comments about Senator Barack Obama while campaigning with Senator Hillary Clinton in South Carolina, in her quest to become President of the United States. Of all the people she could have stood side by side with today, why Bob Johnson? On the eve of the possibility of electing the first African American or woman as President of the United States, why on earth would Hillary Clinton associate herself with a man that has spent his life’s work trying to profit of the exploitation of African Americans, African American women and girls in particular?

Bob Johnson stands for everything Hillary Clinton OUGHT to be against. This man single-handedly set the cause of African Americans back hundreds of years. His exploitation of Black women and girls is particularly morally repugnant. Hillary Clinton is supposed to be a defender of the American worker, yet Bob Johnson made his billions at Black Entertainment Television by notoriously paying his on air talent slave wages.

To be sitting up in a the pulpit of a Black church grinning and laughing side by side with this multimedia crack cocaine dealer and pimp is the slap in the face of every Black woman and girl in this country.

Instead of repeating Bob Johnson’s comments on Senator Obama wholesale, reporters should be asking him about the circumstances under which his wife and BET cofounder left the company. They should ask him about his “relations” with the female executives at his company. They should ask him why his own sister allegedly sued him and whether Johnson properly paid his taxes. All of these issues are raised in Johnson’s biography, The Billion-Dollar Bet. Bob Johnson is not an African American leader, he is a bottom feeder.

Let us not forget that for SIX YEARS Bob Johnson skirting broadcasting rules to broadcast some of the most vile disgusting depictions of African American women in cable television history. BET’s “ Uncut “ featured such cultural gems as:

“What That Thing Smell Like”, by Black Jesus
Shake It Like a Pitbull, by Cold Cannons
F@#king, by David Banner feat. Jazze Pha -
“P#$$y Licker“, DJ Slim -
“I Got That Drank“, Frayser Boy feat. Mike Jones and Paul Wall -
“Let Me See You’re @$$ Drop“, Joker the Bailbondsman -
“P#$$y Poppin'“, by Ludacris feat. Shawnna and Lil Fate

This is not okay. Would Hillary Clinton sit in a church pulpit with Larry Flint or Hugh Hefner? Then why is she sitting in a pulpit with Bob Johnson? Or is she only concerned about the degradation and exploitation of White women? Does her brand of feminism extend to Black women and girls too?

When Hillary Clinton sits side by side in an African American church with a noted misogynist and smut peddler she sends a clear message: she’s not overly concerned about the damage this man has caused African American girls and women. Does Senator Clinton care about our daughters? I don’t know. The Senator should seriously reconsider the company she is keeping. Bob Johnson is no friend of Black America or Black women and children!

Message to Obama/Clinton Stans Visiting the Site for the First Time
For all of the Obama supporters coming to read this post, we ain't fans of his either in fact we find his most ardent supporters insufferable, yet we tolerate them anyway for entertainment purposes only. We mainly are unhappy with him for his complete and utter silence about a case in West Palm Beach, Florida- Dunbar Village. Obama has no problem speaking out on behalf of young Black male criminals like the Jena 6 and Genarlow Wilson- Black women who are victims of crime...not so much. He, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards all know about Dunbar Village and have been radio silent about this horrific crime. THEIR SILENCE IS IMMORAL- If you get the chance ask Edwards, Clinton and Obama about Dunbar Village.

The point of the post is that as disappointed as I am in Obama, Bob Johnson is the Devil. Satan. Beelzebub. A living embodiment of evil. I hold Bob Johnson indirectly responsible for the Dunbar Villages of this world because he built a business by dehumanizing Black women for profit and promoting a pro pimp, pro prison, pro violence, pro drug, anti woman, anti education, anti social culture.

You can read most of our Obama-Clinton posts here. The posts from last November were particularly interesting as we had a brawl with some Obamacolytes.

Hillary's display of poor judgment again (like the poor judgment she displayed in voting for the war). W
hen I read about this, I was really rattled! On the one hand, the endorsement is totally offensive, but on the other hand it shows the outright desperation that Clinton feels right now.

I am hoping that black women whose vote she needs in South Carolina will see this endorsement for what it is (an attempt to use her House Negro Johnson to get their votes at any cost). This endorsement is the equivalent to PetCo being endorsed by Michael Vick. Very stupid move if you ask me.

I think I can no longer consider Clinton as a candidate, I'll either be voting for Edwards or Obama and should neither of them get the nomination, then I might have to consider a Republican. Oh lawd!

Of all the people...LOL...exactly what demographic of African Americans are the Clintons trying to win?

Do the BET loving faithfuls even vote?

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSymphony

LOL Symphony.

I am deeply disturbed that Bob Johnson is a big time Clinton supporter. In my mind, it makes her less likely to be receptive to one of my main goals: taking back the black woman's image from the purveyors of filth and excess.

I want her to speak out quickly about this relationship -- I'm giving her 48 hours, or she's getting stricken off my list of candidates.

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSheCodes

She was stricken off my list of candidates a long time ago and this just puts the icing on the cake. I made a decision a while back that if she wins the nomination I will vote on all of the other offices on election day and when I gets to the president I will either cross party lines or abstain. I will not participate in the Clinton negro manipulation machine. They will never claim my support.

I making it my business to forward the link to this post to everyone I know and to write her campaign and every news outlet reporting this story. We need to start taking back our image and stop letting fools who happen to have the same skin color as us speak for us. Some people in the black community just need to be excommunicated and he's one of them.

Greetings all, thanks for commenting on my blog at http://ginnysthoughts.wordpress.com, BTW. regarding BET and Bob Johnson, perhaps I have no right to comment, as I'm not Afircan-American, however, any objectification of any woman, no matter who she is or where she comes from is a concern to me, and the criticism of BET is not a new issue, so why Hillary would pick him, out of all of the notable African-American leaders who probably support her, I don't know. I can't say that Obama is any "saviour" either, I don't think any politicain is, frankly, however, I support him as a candidate, and why? Hmmm, because I want a change, a fresh face, some fresh ideas, and I don't think Hillary is that person. She not only voted for the war in Iraq, when the intelligence was clarly there that it was not a good move (despite the fact that I actually heard her say that she didn't know any better and went on the intelligence she was given, when all she needed to do was watch Hardball or any number of the political talk shows at the time and she'd have learned), and then just recently voted to declare the revolutionary guard of Iran a "terrorist organization"? Or maybe it was something else, but it was basically a vote to rachet up the hostilities between the US and Iran, and I thought to myself "these people don't learn do they"? The mistakes that were made with Iraq will continue to be made as long as people put political expediency over anything else. I don't think Hillary cares anything about working class people, women, African Americans or anyone else, she only care about power. And what does she do when the pressure is on, pretends to cry?! And I guess it worked with the voters of New Hampshire.

Great Letter, I Don't like Hillary or Bill Clinton, and Bob Johnson is truly negro scum. They make a un-holy threesome.

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAAPP

Tremendous post. I'm still wondering who Bob Johnson was supposed to connect with - other Billionaires, Black Men, surely not African-American women. I'm not impressed when individuals who have both failed to manage their own lives successfully are supposed to represent values for the rest of us. I pray that the actions that are taken by the voters in the upcoming elections show what people think of these antics - ABC, anyone but Clinton.

I am a middle aged white female and I am glad to have found your blog. I saw your comment on HuffPo. Good for you! I have been outraged by how young black women are portrayed in rap videos which happens to be even worse than young white women in the metal rockers' videos. They are all abominable...it is just that with the x rated rap videos, it is just out and out and blatant.

I am so gratified to see African American women saying NO to this bullshit. I loved India Irie's song about being herself and not buying into the image culture/sex culture.

Thanks for this blog; I'd like to link your column to my blog; I am going to check into that. I am going to list your blog in "favorites".

Good post Gina!

The Clintons are starting to show signs of Alzheimers' disease because they are increasingly demonstrating just how clueless they are.

They may be "champions of Black people's issues" but as evidenced by their week of several missteps, they clearly don't have anybody Black - who's conscious or deemed to have a valuable opinion - who is in a decision-making capacity o their executive campaign team because they continue to keep inserting their feet in their mouths.

My grandmother who was from Birmingham,Al would tell me to always watch out for a white southern politician because - in the end - they are about being politically expediate to promote their own selfish interests of power. And if you watch, the Clintons are becoming more and more increasing patronizing of not only Obama but Black folks in general.

I could give a rat's ass about how insutled Bob Johnson is about. He's only about Bob Johnson.

I think we are starting to discover that the Emperor has no clothes - or credible Black friends.

If Bob Johnson was the only Black that didn't seem offended, that should have been a hint and a half for them. Like Bush, either they are stupid or truly culturally incompetent.

I was surprised to see that you don't believe Obama cares about working class Black people. I'm not a supporter of the whole American system, let alone one candidate or another, but Obama did but in work in the hood, and that is a lot more than any candidate as far as I know. As for the Clintons, the both of them have been straight using Black people for the last two decades. The whole crack epidemic started in part with drugs being shipped into Arkansas!

Alaine,

Whew thank goodness, we were beginning to think Aaron had locked you in the basement. No seriously, I have people email me asking me about you since he is the one who usually chimes in.

To all the Obama Stans, I want to applaud your restraint. So far you have surprised me this evening. I know everytime I mention the "O" word on this blog, you can't help yourselves, but it appears your most insufferable brethren and sisteren have taken the weekend off. I can't wat for the frothing TMR morning.

Trudy and Ginny,

Welcome to WAOD. Everyone is welcome as demonstrated by the Obama supporters who keep coming back no matter how much we get into it.

If Hillary is listening to Bob Johnson, ain't NO WAY she's listening to us.

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterg-e-m2001

Mr Chardon,

Welcome to WAOD where we are Uncompromising, Unapologetic, and Unbowed in our defense of Black women and children.

A frequent rejoinder when I infer or outright say that Barack Obama isn't any more interested in working class Black folks than any other credit is this post law school stint working for a grassroots organization. My question is... why do you have to go back that far. He has been a Senator for four year. he was in the state legislature for 11. You mean to tell me that in all of his years as a public servant, you can't give me a single piece of legislation?

You should read my post http://whataboutourdaughters.blogspot.com" REL="nofollow">Why Aren't the Lives of Black Women and Girls Treasured

If will give you a smidge more insight.

As someone who went to a poo poo chi chi law school. I know that is common for young lawyers with political ambitions to do a stint at a non profit or ina public service position. That is a credential just like their law degree so that they can burnish it later to show they care.

What I am asking is what has Obama done for poor folks lately. The person who I was when I was just out of school if completely different from who I am today. I suspect the same for Obama. When I hear people refer to what he did 20 years ago, what I hear is that he doesn't have anything in near history to point to and I have yet to have an Obamacolyte give an example.

Plus we're still waiting for him to say something about Dunbar Village. I know for a fact one of his finance chairs knows about it, I confronted her on the radio.

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterg-e-m2001

Love the new statement. Johnson wasn't referring to any drug use, he was referring to the community work Obama was doing in the neighborhood.

Wow, they really must think the world is stupid. LOL

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSymphony

You usually don't find out how someone really feels about u until they are backed into a corner. The Clintons are desperate. They didn't expect to have to battle for our vote.I'm not totally won over by Obama, but I will not vote for Clinton under any circumtances. I didn't like her husband and I like her even less. I think it's ironic that the Clintons are asking people to consider the context of their words when Mr. Clinton's rode into office on the back of someone's misquoted words. He didn't reconsider the context of Sister Souljah's words, so why should we reconsider his words now? I think the racial mishaps have only begun.

When I read this on Google News, I couldn't wait to see what you ladies had to say. I have just one thing to say about Bobby hookin' up with Hillary.
"Show me your friends, and I will show you your future."

January 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBoetheus

botheus,

You are correct, which is why I am always interested in where campaign money comes from. I will also tell you that the other candidates have very similar financial skeletons in their closets -- for example... guess who is in bed with the same people who have screwed black people in the mortgage debacle, oh and how about those who have money from Rupert Murdoch, and so on.

They are ALL dirty, and the sooner the public wakes up and realized that none of these people are the Messiah, the better.

January 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSheCodes

Gina let me be the first Obama-colyte wise guy to say "What size do you wear? I might buy one for you."

Seriously though, you are spot on about the error in judgement with Hillary's choice of pals. Not only have BET's representations of young sisters contributed to our culture-crapulation and to the demonization of women over the last twenty years but it hasn't helped the image of brothers either. You'd think none of us actually have brains between our ears based on video representations. That part is offensive to me as a Black man.

I say this as a Black man who has seen a once great network go from the Ed Gordon era to the "Back that Thang Up" generation.

Thank God He allows us to move forward and there are other African American cable networks doing better work than BET.
