Family Statement of Nailah Franklin
4:00 P.M.CST, September 28, 2007

Family Statement of Nailah Franklin
This statement confirms that the body found yesterday in Calumet City is that of Nailah Franklin. It was confirmed by dental records earlier today.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Chicago, Calumet City and other police departments, plus the FBI agents who so diligently worked to find Nailah. We would also like to thank the media for news coverage of Nailah’s search. And very importantly, we express our thanks to the community, for all of their search efforts, prayers, and heartfelt expressions.
Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this sorrowful time.
As we move forward the family asks that you respect this time of mourning as we plan the celebration of Nailah Franklin’s life --- our daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

Incredibly sad.
The confirmation that this was her body made me so sad that I had to post the Its A Wonderful World video to get me through the remainder of the day. I had to focus on God's beauty, not man's ugliness. The saddest part about this story is that there will be another Nailah. That is, someone will kill someone else because he or she did not check his or her anger, jealousy or rage.
I am deeply saddened to hear that yet another woman has been slain in America. Nailah has become the public face of thousands of invisible women who are threatened, stalked and attacked on a daily basis.
While we should mourn her death, we can not end it there. This horrible tragedy should strengthen our resolve to combat the glorification of violence against women, and the devaluation of female lives in America.
There are other Nailah's whose very lives depend on us battling a culture of hatred, misogyny and violence.
Hopefully, with the work everyone is doing, we can prevent another Nailah incident from happening.
Tragically sad loss of life.
I am praying for the family. I am also praying that all of us will seek and accept (in our lives) only those persons showing us loving-kindness and thoughtful consideration.
Anything less is deadly.
Gina, I keep playing the Its A Wonderful World video even on today.
My prayers is with all mankind. It is our responsibility to be kind and loving toward on another. The condition of our planet is not God's fault. It is our fault. He gave us the rules. it is time to play by them.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:35).
I have been in prayer for your family. That God will strengthen you and massage your broken hearts.Remember that God is still God and His power is so great that He cares for all of us.God said that He would destroy the house of the wicked but the house of the righteous shall be blessed. Spend quiet time with God and with each other. Do whatever it takes for you to heal and you will be comforted. Love and prayers Your sister in Christ.
