The Blogmother
I’ve tracked down contact information for the CEOs of all of the companies whose advertising has appeared on the “ Hot Ghetto Mess” website at Bet. Com along with the "blackface" cartoon. Please call them and let them know that we appreciate their company’s commitment to reaching African American consumers, there has to be another way to reach African Americans than subsidizing the promotion of a television show called “ Hot Ghetto Mess” whose logo is a “blackface ” cartoon. BET executives have demonstrated that they cannot be trusted with the their company’s brand.
I have gotten all of these companies on screen capture or I have printed our the page when their ads appeared. Take time today and donate some anytime minutes to let these folks know what BET is doing to their brand. Give them the URL where their advertisement appeared. http://www.bet.com/BETShows/HGM_AboutTheShow.htm.

Great post!
Debra Lee should be ashamed of herself.
I would expect this behavior from black men because many black men who work for BET lack the moral fiber and intellectual capacity to UNDERSTAND that what they are doing is harmful to black women but I expect more from a sista.
I am new to this website, but I guess I am confused by the arguement here. It looks like the website is denouncing stereotypical black images by showing the blackface cartoon, aren't they?
I agree with Mike, isnt BET.com saying "we can do better" even the description explains the point of the show.
"Hot Ghetto Mess" is probably heavily borrowed from a popular online phrased used amongst many gossip blogs. I think there is a blog called Hot Ghetto Mess.
Yeah, this show is pretty much crap. And some people will find the imagery funny and other very much offensive. The use of the logo pretty much reminds me Spike Lee's Bamboozled movie. Hmm . . . I think Spike was on to something about the future of black entertainment in general.
. . . "I would expect this behvavior from black men . . . lack the moral fiber and intellectual capacity to UNDERSTAND . . ."
-Fortitude, while I respect your views and opinions, I am assuming that you actually worked for BET.
To wit, much can be said about the intellectual capacity of a woman, blah, blah, blah but where will that take us? I for one hold the intellectual capacity of anyone high until they prove otherwise.
There are many gossip sites that post similar content that will appear on the "Hot Ghetto Mess" program are run by women. That is simply a fact.
I'm not drawing any conclusions, it is just an observation you should be aware of.
Other than that, your attack on men basically has no merit, it simply sounds reactionary and dare I say emotional, but what do I know, after all I am a man.
