Welcome Eurweb readers. For those of you looking for a firsthand account of the DL Hughley protest in Ft Worth Saturday, you can go to Eddie Griffin's blog here. Eddie's account is a must read. ( It is alot more colorful than anything appearing on the wires.)
You can see video of Eddie being escorted out of the Bass Concert Hall here. Eddie is the one yelling " I want a refund!"
If you want to see Neon Deion Sanders and his wife try to creep out of the performance, you can go here. The best part of the video is at the end IMHO.
If you want to read my previous criticism of the usual suspects ignoring Hughley's comments, you can go here, here, here, and here.
If you want to know why I started this blog, you can go here.
One of the benefits of this temporary spike in web traffic is that we get explore more GEMs being left in comments by anonymous posters. Here at What About Our Daughters, we like to feature those who disagree with us. It keeps us on our toes. An anonymous comment said:

I really wish MY PEOPLE would stop being soooo defensive and try to inactThis one is too easy for moi. Ah yes, once again, it is Black women's fault. Clearly there was a convention somewhere that said that African American women are prohibited from complaining about anything on planet earth because WHATEVER they are complaining about is THEIR FAULT! Yes, something is SAD, but it ain't Black women . I leave the rest to y'all. I'm off to do some Russell Simmons-style meditation. SPEAK ON IT!
change. If folks are always speaking of black folks (appearances, behavior) then
maybe "it is what it is". It's bad enough they have to look the way they do ON
the court but my goodness get a brush, some heels and dresses on once you step
off the court. I'm really tired of looking at black women who don't care about
how they look. Many of the female basketball players don't want to look like
women because of other reasons I'd rather not say. WAKE UP!!!! IT'S SAD!!

I am passionate in my conviction to defend the honor of our women. Call it chivalry, machismo, or whatever. But I love our beautiful women and will defend their honor, as well as the rights of our children.
That I purchased a ticket to the Hughley show entitled me the right to boo him to his face and boo him off stage because, in my opinion, he was a bad act. This was as close to a one-on-one, man-on-man, confrontation as I could make possible.
For the record, the women on Rutgers basketball team had “straighten hair”, not “nappy hair”. And, ugly is in the eye of the beholder.
By right, he can say whatever he wishes to say, because he does have freedom of speech. But if he would only look in the mirror, he would see that ugly nappy-headed person of which he speaks.
Review the Rutgers vs. Tennessee college basketball playoff tape. Honestly, which of the Rutgers women were “nappy-headed”? Now review the Imus tape. What did Imus say? Did he see any “nappy-headed whores” or was he just mimicking street talk? Now review Jay Leno’s interview of D. L. Hughley. What did Hughley say? It is obvious Hughley “piled on”. What did he actually see in his mind’s eye? The problem here is internal. But Mr. Hughley is incapable of introspection.
In Channel 5’s interview with Hughley, he mentions “freedom of speech”. Whoever said that this was a “freedom of speech” issue? Psychology would probably look at a mentally distorted man making mockery of people based upon his own psychosis, as butts of his jokes. Making people laugh is his livelihood, but at whose expense?
We have children and youth who idealize Mr. Hughley. It is at their expense that these jokes impact. They adopt his language and callous behavior, and share the same disrespect for their elders.
Now when someone’s exposes him in his psychopathology, then he hides behind his freedom of speech issue. Let’s be sure of this one thing: The world is not framed by psychosis, but by the truth.
