Update on DL Hughley - Contact Viacom!
Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 7:15PM
The Blogmother
Why am I not surprised? Apparently after Studio 60 went bellyup, DL landed at BET, the bastion of black empowerment ( NOT!). The show is called S.O.B., a hidden camera reality show from D.L. Hughley.
Let's see is Les Moonves is going to Keep his word.
THANKS KARA FOR THE INFO!

Let's see is Les Moonves is going to Keep his word.
"From the outset I believe that all of us have been deeply upset and revulsed by the comments," Moonves said in a statement.
Of particular concern was "the effect of this kind of language on young women of colour trying to make their way in this society," Moonves said in reference to Imus's comments about the Rutgers Womens basketball Team.
I'm searching for an address to write to. If you find it first, pass it on.

Speaking of "What About Our Daughters" - did you know that R. Kelly was invited to the premiere of The Color Purple (the story of a sexually abused black woman) in Chicago?
I think somebody needs to write Oprah a letter too.

Thank you so much for that contact information. I love the way the internet works, ask and it shall be granted!
Oh don't get me started on R. Kelly. WHY can't we get a trial of this man? I wonder if his alleged victims weren't little black girls, there might be a swifter pursuit of justice.
Essence magazine has lost its natural mind as well by featuring his deluded wife.
You answered your own question Gem - we can't get him to trial because the black girls that he abused are not seen as valuable - even to the "black community." By the time it goes to trial (if it does) they'll be grown women. MJ went to trial because all of his accusers were mostly white. Had they been little black boys...
And Essence - geez - talk about working AGAINST black women.
Also Gem, you might be interested in monitoring a few shows on NPR. There is News & Notes hosted by Farai Chideya and a new show called Tell Me More where the host (Michel Martin) interviewed a "video model" along with Dr. Johnnetta Cole (former Spelman college president) about the recent Imus fracas. You can also access old Tavis Smiley and Ed Gordon shows on NPR complete with audio.

Yeah. I can't imagine a grown woman wanting to put up with the embarrassment and the onslaught of publicity she is going to have to endure to get a conviction in this case.
