Actor Denzel Washington donated one million dollars to Wiley College to support the return of the debating team. On another positive note, the first reviews are coming in for The Great Debators and they are quite supportive of the film. Please remember to go see the film on opening day or during the first week, if you are one of the lucky few to have the film open in your city!

WOW.... that's fabulous!! Now THAT'S what I am talking about. I hope that this movie encourages more of our young people get involved in this discipline.
Christmas Day is a family day for me, but I'll definitely see it the week that it opens, and will take my neice and nephews to see it as well.
I will be going to see it on Christmas day, hopefully before the crowds. I hope this movie has a crowd!
Good for Denzel. To whom much is given, certainly much is required. Our HBCUs are losing ground. I think The Coz and his wife Camille still hold the record for the largest gift to an HBCU, don't they??? ($20 mil) But a cool million from the likes of Denzel ain't shabby at all.

There is something genuine about Mr. Washington beyond his extraordinary acting ability. He appears to be a really decent person. This recent donation proves it.
