Tonight's series was more the regurgitated MSM dogma that says that the only choices Black women in SC have are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Courting African-American women voters
Of course we couldn't be choosing to vote in our own best interest, but are merely going to choose between gender and race if you believe MSM. I was heartened to see that the Black women in SC are echoing the sentiments expressed on this blog. They like what they hear about Obama, but they just don't KNOW him and his views on the issues that are important to them. HINT HINT! Like Duh. I have already written extensively about this failure this week and I have no desire to go another round with the Obama-lytes in the comments section.

I thought this dreadful ordeal would be over tonight, but apparently due to interest in the series- BLACK FOLKS ARE GIVING NBC HELL- NBC is stretching it out another night to talk about interracial marriage. I am glad it is on a Saturday when most folks don't visit the blog because I know folks are going to act a fool AS USUAL!

It Does Not Suck To Be A Black Woman

You should also check out the second hour of this week's podcast. During the second hour we get into a brawl over Barack Obama's ( AND EVERY OTHER CANDIDATE'S) perceived failure to address the unique needs and concerns of African American women.

You know, I didn't even bother watching the NBC program about black women. I'm glad you guys were game to cover that waterfront. I find such MSM attempts to talk seriously about black people, our condition and our thinking to usually be off base and for the most part, it sounds like thats what happened at NBC. Perhaps the feedback they are getting will lead to some more enlightened, in depth reporting in the future. But generally these sort of efforts from the MSM are disappointing and depressing reminders that we remain a poorly understood community in popular media.

Actually Aaron, it wasn't as bad as I expected.

While it DID contain the usual litany of percentages that explain why all black women are going to hell in a handbasket, it also attempted to show some of the more positive aspects of black womanhood.

I wish that it had shown a few black women in positive relationships with black men, because the overwhelming majority of bw who marry are marrying black men, or chosen a single and contented life.

I have no problem with interracial marriages whatsoever, but some of those women seemed a little desperate... and the 'good hair' comment didn't sit well with me at all.

Other than that, I applaud them for attempting to explore subjects that most people -- including blacks-- think are inconsequential or unfixable. They nailed some things and missed the boat on others. But at least they tried, and that counts for something with me.

I am so glad to see so many bloggers are 'not believing the hype!' The doom and gloom reporting has no power over us! Yay!!!!

I pray that other women, who are unreachable by blogosphere also know this.

AND I pray that should the media ever decide to "throw us a bone" that we still not succumb and keep to our OWN media!
