NBC's African American Women:Where They Stand Night 4- Are We one Ham Hock Away From a Heart Attack

Tonight was Night 4 of NBC Nightly News' "African American Women: Where They Stand"
This is why I go to an old school Black doctor in the hood. The neighborhood is sketchy, but I get comprehensive care and she does not play.

We are soooo going to do a follow up to our podcast" Black Women: One Ham Hock Away From A Heart Attack"

HAHAHA Brian Williams said that African American Women: Where They Stand is "high interest."

Black folks are giving them HELL! But hey, at least we are watching.

Y'all touch and agree that, during this holiday season, the demon spirit of egg nog, danish butter cookies, and pecan pie don't undo all my hard work this summer. Although today I DID find an egg nog alternative called "Nog"- it is made out of soy milk and if you close your eyes and hold your nose, it is almost as good.

I didn't get this until P6 pointed it out.

Is Ms. Ellis only doing the Black male bashes, and the 'real' science pieces have gone to White women? Are you telling me that no Black women could do the real science pieces?

I initially thought that an entire entire show was going to be dedicated to this story. I was able to watch Wednesday's segment. It wasn't in depth, just not what I expected. Nonetheless, I am glad that we have been given the platform to discuss our issues.

Lol. The real science pieces? As stated, I was unable to watch the show everyday. What exactly was missing?

While I applaud MSNBC Nightly News for doing the series, I was dismayed that the segment "Love in Black and White" only focused on Black women marrying white men. That is NOT news since that trend has been happening since the 1970s and has been kicked to death by mainstream media and Black media. As an Asian man who is married to a Black woman and who co-moderates a Yahoo! Discussion group called PowerCouples_AMBW (Asian men Black women accessible at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PowerCouples_AMBW), I think the trend is that Black women are more and more attracted to Asian men in this country and throughout the world. If you go beyond using marriage rates (which is unfair to Asian men because anti-Asian, racist, xenophobic immigration policies have kept America's Asian population barely at 4% while Asians make up over half the world) and go with internet measures of interracial attraction such as the 250 Black women who are members of PowerCouples_AMBW, YouTube videos such as the IKEA commercial with a Black woman-Asian man with their kid, etc., viewers would get a real news story on where interracial dating / attraction is going today and in the future. What do bloggers here think?

Hi all,

Sometimes I wish the mainstream media would just ignore us completely. They never get it right and most of what we see is just propaganda.

I cannot (yes I can) believe that NBC has dedicated a week of pieces on how badly we are doing.

If anyone from NBC is reading this, please just leave us alone!
