Now he’s back at it publishing this nonsensical letter from Nas directed at teens in Chicago who are slaughtering each other. Sandra Rose outright refused to publish this “open letter”. Her reasoning:

I didn’t get to read this “open letter” until I got home and I couldn’t get past the first paragraph where NAS refers to those who are slaughtering innocent men women and children as “Young Warriors.” Doesn’t that about sum up the CANCER that is the Hip Hop Industrial Complex? Trying to make the dishonorable , honorable. The immoral, laudable. The inhumane, human.
Let’s call these people what they are URBAN TERRORISTS! Their war is against US- innocent Black civilians trying to make our way in the world the best way we know now. Russel Simmons is like the UBL of Urban Terrorists. He’s their “spiritual leader” and he and the HIC are funding a jihad on innocent Black civilians. If they want to be warriors go sign up for the Army, Navy, Airforce or the Marines. Go do something, anything other than terrorize kids trying to go to school.

The letter was addressed to those type of teens not us, he kinda had to speak to them in their language. If you call them an urban terrorist they will most likely start to tune you out immediately. I think he was trying to tell those kids to focus all that negative energy to something positive and to fight for some that will help the community and not each other.

Further, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the letter was not even addressed to the perpetrators themselves, but to their peers who have yet to actually descend into this sort of thing – black youth on the edge who can still be pulled back, not the ones who’ve already fallen.

I’m going to mention this topic at work today (i work at an afterschool program). The kids are 7-9 but they know whats going on in the streets and the earlier they can be caught before entering the madness, the better.
Nas didn’t write that letter in support of the defendants but he did it to reach out to those kids who are on that path. Run away from them fine, but there are still a lot of folks who are stuck living in a neighborhoods and schools with them. I’ve taught HS for a number of years and many of my students were gang members. Contrary to popular belief, they are not so far out in left field that you have to speak to them in some coded language in order to get them to understand that their lifestyle is wrong. THEY ALREADY KNOW IT. The problem is, they tend not to realize the harm they are causing innocent people or that they are making blacks look bad. They tend to only think of themselves. Otherwise, they act just like normal teens WHILE IN SCHOOL. That’s been my experience.

The only way that this savagery is going to stop is when the community stops it. These kids are not warriors. They are savages. A warrior protects his community and his people, not preys on them. A savage is basically a cannibal. He devours his own species… and thats what these kids are doing.The black community has to face the fact that there is a savage pathology that is rampant in our community and its not going to get better because these kids are having babies. If the parent is inhumane what are they going to implant in their child? Back in the 90’s a city on the east coast put together a workable anti crime plan that worked temporarily. Everyone was patting themselves on the back but a criminologist named James Foxx cautioned people that there was a bunch of kids who at that time were toddlers and spending a lot of time watching tv unsupervised and basically brought up in a negative environment. He called them super predators and said that in about 12 years these kids would cause a huge spike in crime. Nobody wanted to hear it. It is my belief that that is where we are now. I also believe that if this keeps up at some point we will be seen as a national security threat. The danger is that when a less sympathetic administration gets in the whitehouse and thats inevitable, they may not discriminate between the good guys and the bad guys. So we the average black man and woman are caught between a rock and a hard place. We have a potentially repressive government response on one hand and criminal terrorists on the other hand complicated by acute apathy and fear on the part of the community. We better find a way to deal with this situation because if a post Obama government does it, they won’t be sending social workers into the community, they’ll be sending in real deal warriors and more innocent people will pay the price.

Why not elaborate on how they can be “young warriors” for knowledge or spirituality or peace. I only help kids who at least act like they want to do better. Boys and young men usually only follow other men and are quick to tell you how you don’t understand where they are coming from, which I kind of don’t. Thats why I stay in my lane with non criminal kids.
But if men like Nas know how to relate to them, I will not knock them b/c I sure don’t know how to get them to change. Many of the community outreach workers are folks who have shared the same background as those they are trying to reach.

Instead of writing a letter to the murderers a letter should have been written to the students who are doing right, and trying to succeed in school, like Derrion. I should have been more clear. The problem to which I am referring is black on black youth killings. Chicago became a national poster child for child killings when the murder of Robert “Yummy” Sandifer made the cover of TIME Magazine.
However, I also think that public welfare programs should pay for terminations of unwanted pregnancies (regardless of income) and that people receiving welfare should be limited to the number of children they can have. I won’t answer anymore questions if they have nothing to do with this topic.

There is no single reason for all this violence, but dammit, this violent, sexist, “-itches and bling” kind of hip hop contributes to this violent mess, along with a lack of consistent, responsible parents and other adults to guide, set an example for the youth. Internet communication can often carry an unintended tone, so I’m inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt on your last statement, which didn’t add much to your response. You put it out there, and yes, I was seeking clarification on what you meant by “this” in your initial comment. Your first paragraph sufficed.
If there is a positive side to this, it is that people are finally getting angry and fed up. The anger must now be turned into some constructive action. We all have to get involved in some way to put a stop to this and we can’t be afraid to take a hardcore approach with these devils. The bottom line is that this has to be stopped by any means necessary. Some of these people just aren’t going to change so they have to be removed from our midst. Those that want to change should be given the option to do so. If they don’t they pay a price.One thing that we as a community needs to do is pushback on this no snitchin BS. If you see something get an anonymous message to the cops and tell other folks of like minds to do the same. We have to make the community an unhealthy place for these terrorists to live. If you got it in you to handle the situation yourself then do that. It doesn’t matter how its done as long as it gets done. The tables have to be turned on these people. Its time they are frightened and intimidated just like they are doing to innocent people.As Amarillo said if it means we got to get out there with our own weapons and protect our kids then thats what we need to do. Lastly I would like to see us remember at least some of the names of our people that have died by the hands of their own people. If they were killed by racist white folks they’d be memorialized…because they were killed by their own, their names are quickly forgotten. The ones that stand out for me besides this young man are Angela Dawson, who along with her husband and five children were burned to death by drug dealers in Baltimore. Precious Doe ( Michelle Marie Green) age three who was decapitated by her crackhead parents because she wouldn’t go to bed and Emmanuel Wesley Murray age 3 months whose death was covered on this blog.

I think Striker’s idea to memorialize the names of the slaughtered is a timely idea. There is so much of this type of violence happening in neighborhoods all across the nation that the outrage becomes diffused. We have the Aids Quilt, the 9/11 memorial, the Oklahoma Memorial, etc. to remember the dead and victims. I think some national black advocate should create some kind of memorial for slain teen victims, and have a day to read their names(maybe they’re already doing something like this?) This would help keep the focus and intensity on the problem at least.

When someone does something wrong most times it falls under two categories.
(1) Either the wrong that they do brings such gratification (money, honor, power , apparent power or honor,etc)
(2) Or, they really think they are doing the right thing, but its wrong.
In the first case, this is not politically correct to say, but a good “beating” is needed. Either financially, physically, etc. (I guess however that translates into this society) Somehow the punishment has to be greater than the reward/gratification.
In the second case, nothing can be done (from what I’ve learned). Prayer. Some say they ought to wear amulets, get religion, who knows. Something that can shift their minds to a new value system.
I don’t know the “urban terrorist” mindset. But knowing where they’re coming from will help to figure a solution.
My inclination is that they know they’re doing wrong but the power that it brings -the ability to make life and bring death; the ability to give one’self honor by “destroying” a hated “enemy”, etc. is too intoxicating.

Blkchik, I deal with at risk teenagers everyday and they do not speak a different language than adults. It actually appeared as though the savages were working together to end Derrion’s life. I also don’t understand why these animals were not charged with capital murder. This would almost ensure that they are put down like the sick diseased garbage that they are. The youngest sludge that has been arrested so far is 16 years old. If they are convicted on First Degree murder, which carries a 25 to life term, he could be released by the age of 41. God only help us if that happens. How can the Olympics be more important than protecting our kids? I am praying that Chicago is not selected, so O and the Os can refocus. Actually, it’s welfare that contributes to senseless murders like Derrion Albert’s. Black people on welfare have been convinced that (a) fathers don’t need to raise their kids and (b) Black women will get support no matter their sexual irresponsibility. This move by President Obama doesn’t shock me. So, it’s sadly predictable that pursuing the Olympics is a higher priority for the President than speaking out against Black kids in Chicago murdering each other. Like BET’s Reggie Hudlin, Obama has a mindset of “I don’t care about Black dysfunction as long as MY kids aren’t affected.”
So, as with their DC counterparts, Black parents in Chicago must become ANGRY enough to fight for real change. Obama certainly isn’t going to take the lead on this.
Musing out loud for a moment; I’m wondering what is the likelihood that the governor of Illinois would be willing to impose martial law and call out the National Guard? And no, this is not just crazy talk. Chicago needs the manpower to enforce the curfews, and frankly even to escort children to school. They do something similar in other countries, why not this one? Well, it’s probably unconstitutional under Posse Comitatus, but they do it after disasters. I can’t imagine anything more disastrous than what’s going on right now. This probably wouldn’t require anything more than a few hundred soldiers for a reasonably brief time. If possible, military police would be used, but if they’re too busy, it can be done with regular soldiers. I would imagine that seeing a few hundred troops, locked and loaded would be enough to straighten these kids out.
Obviously, this would be a temporary measure, but it seems to me that Chicago is literally hemorrhaging and something must be done to stop it.
If this persists we may have a situation where the state hires independent contractors like Blackwater to “clean” up the neighborhood. Everyone will cease to care about how they do it as long as they keep the peace.
The death of Derrion Albert is tragic; but what is sad is the fact that NO ONE stopped to help this child. How many cars did you see trying to make their way through the streets? How many other students (male & female) can be seen just walking around those fighting and just watching. How about the residents and business owners who surely must have been looking out their windows and doors? And don’t even let me get started about the guy and his sister who were taping and narrating the video!!! I even read somewhere that there were 2 squad cars (allegedly) at the scene, but the officers did not intervene because they were waiting on back up to arrive.
The first coward that hit him with the board did so when Derrion was facing away from him. I am convinced that Derrion was purposely a target from that first hit. If you notice, no one else was hit with a board intentionally in the head. Most of them were hit in the back or across the chest. Also, it appeared to me that the individual was waiting until Derrion was turning away from him and aimed for his head. Then the second coward was there to blind side Derrion again as he got up. And where was the friend that Derrion was trying to help? I hope it wasn’t the guy who was standing next to him when he was hit with the board and then ran off.
If you notice, no one else in the video was beaten on by a gang of cowards. Derrion appears to have been a small guy. No one that beat him to death was Man enough to fight him one on one, they had to hit him from behind and then pounce on him after he was down. Someone is heard saying “yeah, put that little nig_ _ r to sleep!” and calling him a bitch. These are 16 & 17 year old kids that we are letting run our streets. Not one adult is seen on that video doing a damn thing and you can’t tell me there weren’t any around!
These kids weren’t even concerned or scared that they would be caught and that is truly sad!!! I guarantee you, if an adult or even some students would have come to help Derrion after he was hit the first time, he would still be alive. I guarantee you the other five punks would never have tried to beat on him if somebody would had come to his aid. That’s how cowards prey on others, they do it in groups because individually they are weak!!
I grew up in that area and recently moved back. When I was a kid and would tell people what street I lived on, they would say “oh, you’re from Roseland” and I would be very adament that I wasn’t from Roseland because I lived on the “good side of the tracks!!” We need to stop trying to lay the blame on the politicians, rappers, tv, video games, etc because we as adults and parents have caused this problem! It is not the Teachers responsibility to raise our children; it is not Jay-Z’s responsibility to be a role model to our sons. We as parents have caused this problem, yet we want the police and politicians to solve it. We are the one’s that need to teach our children respect and right from wrong, we need to know what music, programs and video games our children are playing. We need to know who are children are associating with.
Why is it that it ended up being a group of girls who finally went to Derrion’s aid. Again, I ask where were the Men??? I know they were there because I could see atleast 2 of them who were standing at the door of the community center when the girls dragged Derrion from the street. Even the camera man can be heard saying “pick him up” and “damn, damn”. Even at this point, he does not put the camera away and offer any assistance!!! Then he calls his sister back out of the building so they can continue to follow the crowd down the block. Totally unbelievable.
I drive past that community center atleast 2-3 days a week and I wish I would have been there on Thursday, because I would not have stood by and watched that child get beaten to death. These kids were fighting with their bare hands, no knives or guns. You mean to tell me that a couple of adults or students couldn’t have dis-armed the few punks who were swinging the boards??
For the record, I am a female and probably don’t stand more than 5′ 1″ in a pair of high heels. I graduated high school over 20 years ago and I wouldn’t consider myself to be particularly athletic, but I would have went to Derrion’s ade.
@Roslyn In 1957 Black students in Little Rock had their paths to school blocked by an angry mob. Then U.S. President Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army to make sure they got to school safely.

@Trish you are on to something. A lot of people think the danger is from the kids themselves. Yes, that’s a danger, but the larger danger is that once they pass the point of no return comes the response from those in power. It will be disproportionate it will not discriminate among Black people. They won’t ask you if you’re good or bad. We’ll all suffer.
I had to come out of my current period of online “radio silence” to co-sign what Focused Purpose and Trish said.
I will point out to those from other parts of the country that this level of yearly carnage among AAs in Chicago is NOT new. I would count the 1992 slaying of an AA boy named Dantrell Davis as the beginning of this level of human sacrifice among local AA residents. He was shot and killed by supposedly “stray” gang gunfire while walking to school.
The harsh truth is that most AAs don’t care enough to do anything effective about this. Most of us are more emotionally invested in denial, and in Black-male-criminal protectionism. Most of us are willing to sacrifice AA children on the altar of protecting BM criminals.
Those few AAs who do care lack the resources and power to do what would be necessary to make some headway with this situation. Necessary actions such as summary executions of the killers and other violent criminals; bringing back orphanages; physically removing the handful of decent, normal AA children from these environments—which means in many cases ALSO removing them from their negligent parents, etc. Basically, it would take a Communist China-level of crackdown to clean this mess up at this point.
Instead, most local AAs wring their hands, make excuses for the killers and other violent criminals among us, and recite obsolete slogans.
I have very little to say about any of the atrocities among us except that the number and pace of these atrocities will increase.
Most AAs will be physically destroyed or form part of a PERMANENT underclass in this country. This is because 99.99% of AAs are in denial and lack the will to take the stern measures that would be needed to salvage even a small fraction of our people. We’re not even willing to STOP making excuses for inferior lifestyles and depraved, savage behavior.
The future crackdown will come from non-Black political elites when they finally decide that AAs’ horrific crimes and dysfunction are a national security threat to them and their safety. Then you will see physical barriers erected around the Black residential areas. These barriers will be designed to keep the AA residents and our emerging pattern of Rwanda-levels of violence confined within the Black residential ares.
These physical barriers will be similar to the “peace walls” that currently exist in Northern Ireland; and the walls the US military has built around various neighborhoods in Baghdad.
And the police are not going to risk their lives to enter these blocked-off Rwanda-zones. They’re not going to even pretend to protect the AA residents who live within them. They are going to police the perimeters of these zones and the barriers to make sure that the Black residents stay INSIDE those zones during the night or other curfew periods.
All of the above is why I strongly encourage any AA woman who wants to survive and thrive to GET OUT of Black residential areas NOW.

What continues to get me about this crime and crime in general in our communities is that you have the initial crime and then you have the cover up, which is taking place right now. I saw the Chicao police chief on CNN and he was angry at the fact that nobody has come foward with any information about the other suspects. so in a sense the crime is still going on. These people are accessories.
The other reality about our overall situation is that it can’t be solved by us within the the legal system. If we are to solve this situation we would have to step outside the law, because lets face it many of our people would have to be killed, executed. We are seeing the rapid demise of the African American. I’m just not sure what the end result would look like.
I guess each one of us that sees what is going on will have to make a decision in terms of what we are willing to do and is it worth the trouble.I mean just to come close to fixing this would mean all out civil war in the black community. This goes deeper than just thugs acting up. We have lost all of our morals and values as a people and don’t seem interested in getting them back. Google Blackwater in New Orleans and you’ll see how Blackwater was deployed during Katrina. There is a rumor that they have had conversations with other state govenments to do the same thing in other states

The aftermath of the broken levees from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans during August 2005 had “our” federal government hire Blackwater to “police” that city, particularly the black residents, wherein their main task was to make sure that the blacks were contained in “black zones” and that they did not seep into the white areas, which is where many of the New Orleans’ 9th Ward residents were seeking refuge because the white areas were dry.

It is likely that this killing, the overall violence/crime in Chicago, had nothing to do with the IOC’s decision in not choosing Chicago. The city they chose, Rio de Janiero, has a very high crime rate — just a few notches below Johannesburg’s (which is a city with one of the highest crime rates in the world) and higher than Chicago’s.
One of the things about having the Olympic games come to one’s town, is that the local government, when placing its bid/making its appeal to the IOC, implicitly guarantees that it will, pretty much, by whatever means necessary, get its high-crime in check, if that is a problem in the first place, by the time the first visitor for the games arrives. One of the ways that it does that is by displacement of its residents. For instance (and this was not a crime problem for them, it was more of a “get rid of the ugly”, which were the poor), for the Beijing games, the Chinese government took away the homes of, moved out thousands of its undesirable residents from that city. Actually, the Olympic games always turn out to be a bigger financial (and sometimes social) burden than many cities/countries realize. (One day last week, I think it was Thursday or Friday, “Democracy Now” did a story on this subject. You can watch their shows online.)

Perhaps law enforcement agencies and school officials would be served by brushing up on Petraeus’ counterinsurgency manual and asking hard questions about possible symmetries between the violent tactics used by those in Iraq and Afghanistan to upset institutional order and those employed by youth in America’s urban centers…

Olympic Bid – The IOC Gave Chicago What It Deserved

Neither Chicago nor America needs anything as beautiful as the Olympics. We have thrice proven this to be true. What Daley and crew did was throw out an “diseased-ridden, back-alley prostitute (Chicago) before the IOC and offer to pay the selection committee to sleep with the prostitute.” Ridiculous!
Our president and first lady attempted to raise votes. However, Chicago has been put out before the world and the world has watched Chicago from Blagojevich to the senseless beating of a “human being” – not a “N-word” to racists and ignorant Black people, but a “human being,” a child.
Mayor Daley and pundits need to wake up and realize that one must first clean up ones house before attempting to invite in guests. Crime is out of control: During Chicago’s Taste of Chicago shootings and deaths in the city was off the charts – record setting. One idiot brought a shotgun to the Taste. If Chicago cannot handle day-to-day exercise of police powers or its Taste of Chicago, it certainly does not need to host the Olympics. Far too many innocent people would get mugged, robbed, hurt, and even murdered. Further, it is more of a shock that many actually believed that Chicago would get the Olympics with the world having watched the brutal and senseless beating to death of Darrion Albert. Hearsay has it that two police cars were present during the beating but allegedly waited for backup.
On the contrary, it seems that Chicago Police are only worth issuing traffic citations. All too often many are standing outside of clubs playing on every female club goers that enter and exit, or sitting for hours and hours at a White Hen Pantry or other fast stop. How long of a break do police officers get anyway? Chicago Police Officers are lazy and intentionally dodge doing necessary paperwork relating to crimes even if it means allowing criminals to go free. Mayor Daley and Chief Reis need to stop all the showcasing on television speaking up about the Chicago Police Department and face the fact that innocent people are being harmed and the police are simply not around or afraid to confront criminals. Both need to begin admonishing those in leadership positions within the police department and raise the level of “protection and service” to Chicago citizens. More than 1,300 shootings and we have not reached 2010.
No, Chicago was not deserving of such beauty as the Olympics. Chicago is as beseeched with separatism, racism, and violence. It is a city of whites on the northside and impoverished African Americans and Hispanics on the southside and westside. On the large scheme of things, a few would have profited while the large masses would have been pacified with temporary jobs during the Olympics after gentrification. Remarkable is that most of the Olympic paraphanelia would have likely been manufactured in China and other foreign countries.
Greed did not win out this time. I for one am very happy. The world watched within the last few months political corruption and widespread senseless violence in Chicago. Why is such a city deserving of something as beautiful as the Olympics? The IOC saved many from being robbed, hurt, killed, and or witnessing first hand the racism and violence that America U.S. has as its legacy. Exploiting others for the greed of a few was not what fate would have at the end of the day.
Many attempt to point the finger at our President. We are the only country that elects a leader and from day 1 to day 1460 will attack him at every opportunity, missing none, instead of working with him. Moreover, it goes far beyond mere exercise of freedom of speech. Some of the attacks strike at the color of his skin and even at the physical appearance of the First Lady. Fools are duped by the Republican versus Democrat battles when it is only the wealthy versus the masses of ignorant “have-nots.” Any attempt at equalizing the playing field is seen and played off as “socialism.” Again, why does such a city or country deserve such beauty as the Olympics?
Denial, oh denial, how dath thou allow me to go on. We are a country of Republicans (seen as being anti-black and white-friendly) versus Democrats (seen as being black-friendly at the expense of whites). We a country of white-control systems of social status versus impoverished black and hispanic cultures vying for equality. We are as monochrome today as we were during pre-civil rights days. The election of a half-black president has changed very little. It was as if some whites believed that the vestiges and legacy of slavery would instantaneously be eradicated. Now, that things have not changed as quickly as they expected, they too jump on the bandwagon of President hate-mongers. Remarkable is that some voted with knowledge of President Obama’s plans for healthcare, etc. Yet, some now act as if President Obama simply pulled healthcare out of nowhere. These label it “socialism” when “socialism” entitles more than just an overhaul of a country’s healthcare system. Did not Roosevelt temporarily take over BIG BUSINESS to pull the country out of the depression? It is not a fear of socialism but a fear of loss profits by Big Business – GREED
Mayor Daley can now use the set-aside money to improve the Chicago Public School system and other programs aimed at changing the mindsets of Chicago’s youth and impoverish. The senseless murder of Darion Albert epitomizes a need for a social-cultural overhaul of Chicago. When some whites segragrate themselves on the northside ignoring the fact that gangs are their problem too, a societal problem, Chicago does not deserve the Olympics. Does it really take for white honor roll students to begin falling to gang violence and shootings before the powers-that-be see it as everyone’s problem? Really, will it take such? It seems that way based upon the evolution of crack cocaine.
In 1990, a friend told me, “They have nothing to value so they value nothing.” Today, I see the power of his statement. Those who have nothing to value – certainly not a knowledge of their history and Pride – easily snuff out of the lives of others seemingly without remorse but a sense of entitlement. When police wrongfully shoot down black children and white juries acquit those police under the excuse that the job is “stressful,” you send a loud and clear message to black youth, “YOU ARE WORTHLESS; YOU HAVE NO VALUE.” If the job is so stressful, do not become a police officer. Likewise for politicians, if you cannot keep your hands out of the money chests, do not become a politician. If you are a judge and you cannot convict a police officer who beats women, get off the bench, you are not ethical. Frame your opinion however you like, probation was a slap to the face of Lady Justice. The unspoken speaks volumes to our youth, especially black youth whom society seems to care least about their well-being, at least not until gang violence is knocking on your doorstep.
BLACKS: You are a very large part of the problem too. You do not get off so easily. My people have slept with the most vile and villainous of assasins – hip hop rappers. These hip-hop assassins, some fathers in their 30’s and 40’s, purposely create music saturated with mysoginistic, sexual, and murderous music. They encourage males to go about engaging in wanton sex making babies without taking responsibility, labeled as playas and pimps. These hip hop assasins purposely leave their music devoid of any positive teachings of history, accountability or education, only a constant thumping of the “N-word.” The “N-word” is used so often it’s a wonder our black youth actually know their birth names. Our leaders, especially rhythmic pastors and ministers, allow this to go on with little or no protest all the while filling their coffers with the social security and pension checks of old widows.
Further, black mothers, shame on you. Shame, shame, shame, you are a disgrace!!!! DO NOT DARE TO CALL YOURSELVES “STRONG BLACK WOMEN” WHEN YOU KNOW YOU CHILD IS IN A GANG, POSSESSES A GUN, AND OR SELLS DRUGS. That same gangbanging murderer sleeps under your roof. Getting B’s in high school isn’t that difficult, especially with tutors. So, if your child is not producing, it is your fault, “NOT THE FAULT OF THE WHITE MAN.”

Consequently, the first round rejection is just punishment. When a city chooses, “Mr Birthday Sex,” as a role model for Chicago Public School children enabling further teenage pregnancies, V.D. and premarital sex. The Olympic rejection is just deserts for such and undeserving city.
Nipping the dismay of the Olympic rejection in the bud, Chicago, with your corrupt politicians, separatism, AWOL law enforcement, and rampant crime, you were shown your image in a mirror that you are undeserving. Shame on you for even believing that you were deserving of such. Again, clean up your house first before wanting to invite over guests.

While Derrion’s death is certainly a tragedy, if you would honestly sacrifice your own safety for that of a street punk who was being beaten on by a gang, then you are a braver person than I. Derrion can clearly be seen entering the fray and throwing a punch before being hit with the board. This “he was on his way home from school and was caught in the middle” crap is driving me nuts, Derrion voluntarily participated in the act violence that ended his life prematurely.
By all reports, this was not a melee that spontaneously erupted, it was planned for a certain time at a certain spot. I am not disputing the fact that teenagers routinely get caught up in violence, but the sanctification of Derrion Albert is inappropriate in this case. He easily could have avoided dying prematurely had he not involved himself in the fight.
How to end this problem? More jails, more schools, separate the animals, because that’s what they are, they are animals. They aren’t urban terrorists, and they aren’t young warriors, they are simply wild sociopaths with no sense of pride in their community. The factors that led them to the point that they’re at is irrelevant, whether it’s poor parenting or social issues or poverty, the fact is that they’re animals and they need to be put away.

I would like to say “I give my condolences to the family of Derrion Albert, and we are responding to the negative publicity my son is receiving when he was acting in self defense.
Both of my sons are in this videotaped incidents and I want to address specifically the other side that is not being portrayed in the media. Society is now convicting Eugene before knowing the story entirely.
He is some important facts that have been overlooked.
1. Eugene Riley and Vashion Bullock are Brothers.
2. Eugene Riley picks up Vashion Bullock from Fenger High School regularly.
3. Vashion Bullock has been harassed by “The Ville” for 3 years, since attending Fenger High School.
4. Vashion was suspended earlier Thursday September 24, 2009.
5. Eugene Riley and Vashion Bullock arrived at Fenger High School unarmed and were attack.
6. Vashion Bullock may loose an eye from a brick to the face in the incident.
