Dear Parental Unit,
I know this goes without saying, but I just want to stipulate the following requests for the record. In the event that I should predecease you:
- Under no circumstances is any preacher by the last name of Sharpton or Jackson to be in the general vicinity or camera shot with you at any Posthumous Press conference.
- Under no circumstances are more than one lawyer allowed to speak on behalf of the estate.
- Last but certainly not least, under no circumstances are you to use said posthumous Press Conference to promote a record label, a clothing line, fragrance, deluxe grill, bootleg DVDs, rental property, fruit, inkjet toner refills or any other commercial venture.
Eternally Your Child,
The What About Our Daughters Commissioner of Chicanery & Foolishness Prevention.
PPS. Don’t let me see y’all in the audience at the BET Awards either!!! (**leaves to make some revisions to the will regarding disinheritance upon appearance on any BET-related show.**)
I thought these things went without saying, but Joe Jackson, Father of Micheal Jackson, has ruined it for all parents hoping to use a press conference regarding the mysterious death of their children. Katherine Jackson, it ain’t 1975 anymore, get cha’ boy PLEASE!

This was a sad example demonstrating just how detached Joe Jackson has been with not only his children, but with reality. Even in death, he chose treat his son like a commodity that was open to be exploited instead of a human being. I can’t pinpoint the tipping point, but last night at the BET Awards only reinforced the fact that we desperately need to take back the reins of our future. The awards show in a word: pathetic. With Joe Jackson seated front row with Rev. Al Sharpton, Lil Wayne and entourage celebrated the fine art of unprotected and salacious sex with multiple women across the globe. They were joined on stage by Lil Wayne’s 10 year daughter who participated in dancing to the hit song. Wow. A father in the audience who obviously does not give damn about his son beyond financial reasons and a father on stage who doesn’t give a damn about his daughter because he is up on stage for financial reasons.
Did Debra Lee sign off on this? Doesn’t matter I guess, since Viacom owns BET. I’m just one black man. However, this Fall I am going to start traveling to schools and mentoring to these young men who find this behavior acceptable. Someone has to tell them that it is not. Joe Jackson is no role model. Lil Wayne is no role model. Jamie Foxx is no role model. What they should have shown more of was the positive black stories they chose to share in brief snippets dispersed throughout after commercial breaks. Backed with clean and positive music, it would have been light-years better than the nonsense they tried to pass off as a tribute show.
The Vortex of Coonery continues.
get cha boy! Ha!
Truly Joe Jackson is sad and we know why the Jackson children esp. Michael are /were so troubled shame Katherine didn’t leave his arse and spare the children from him….
He is an opportunistic snake and he ain’t no Papa Osmond for sure….
Is this real? Did he just say, “It’s been about a week since the last time I saw him. He was living then.” ?
I will say here the same thing I said to my mother when she was pissed about Mr. Joe Jackson:
Joe is who he is.
A zebra doesn’t change his stripes.
He has ALWAYS been opportunistic. I don’t know why anyone expects any differently.
like JJ said , Joe Jackson is Joe Jackson…the stripes don’t change cause the meal ticket is gone…in fact that seems to have ramped up the feeding frenzy. In a way, I’m relieved MJ is finally out of their clutches.
I’ve been silent on MJ. I’m more worried about surviving the Great Recession, or Depression than the rich and famous.
But….every part of the MJ story is tragic…. he’s perhaps the most tragic figure in American history. No one has risen so high, and fallen so far. White Conservative media (particularly radio) has been literally celebrating the news of his death since Thursday… laughing & joking about the whole thing. I’ve heard racist jokes at work. Even some Blacks have gotten in on it. I’ve also seen the countless clueless folks who think his contribution to music and entertainment was a glove, the moonwalk and thriller (some clueless woman in LA actually summed up his entertainment legacy on CNN by mentioning the moonwalk). Annoying to musicologists and real music enthusiasts… Whenever an American opens their mouths about MJ… I cringe almost everytime… because usually some form of ignorance comes out.
Then there are the bloodsuckers (family, “friends”, corporations, folks hustling merchandise, etc). This was a man with the mind of a 12 or 13 year old boy…who had parasites all around him, constantly. He never stood a chance.
It’s all pretty sick and sad. The life of MJ, especially the last 15 years, was much more sad than the actual death Thursday. MJ had been dead for quite some time…. long before last Thursday. He essentially died years ago.
The behavior of Joe Jackson almost makes sense…. in that it should provide some explanation as to why MJ was physically and mentally so sick. Maybe it’s actually good for people to see this…. especially those who may not have been aware of the extent of the madness. It almost makes it easier for you to forgive MJ for blowing one of the biggest legacies of the last Century.
His death was merciful.
I can’t wait until Shecodes help me update my new website: punkazzparents dot com.
Join the Alliance Against Punk Azz Parents. T-shirts will be on sale soon. All you have to do to join is register at the site and buy a t-shirt.
I am giving out several awards of punkazzness and the recipients are:
Matthew Knowles (For pippin his daughter. What decent father would allow his daughter to roll around on the floor like some *&%^* all in the name of entertainment and money?)
Frankie (Keshia Coles’ momma) (For having children that are still in the foster care system while her azz is partying with people half her age. Sit your azz down right now)
Kate and Jon (For waiting until they had 8 children before they realized that they were not compatible. Sit your azzes down right now)
Octomom (Does this choice need any explanation?)
Joe Jackson (I am still made at Joe. Some things you should not do. D*&%, Michael ain’t even in the grave yet and he is talking about his record label)
Although only God can jugje MJ and may he finally be resting in peace, it is appaling to see those two Ambulance chasing hucksters Reverend Al and Jesse Jackson jumping onto the band wagon and Rev Al reminding us that MJ marched with us etc-I wish both those men would have some dignity and not be media whores just to get into the papers-where is there self respect-Black America has serious issues to deal with in which they hoose to remain silent-enough already.
I don’t even think Joe still lives with the family. They live in California and he lives in Vegas. And what can Sharpton and Jackson do for the family. I know Sharpton set up the Apollo service, but why is he running around with Joe?
And tell Matthew Knowles to tell his daughter to put on some clothes if she is gonna sing Ave Maria.
@Angry Independent
Jackson didnt’ have the mind of a 12 or 13 year old boy. He did have some mental issues according to some reports, but I don’t think that’s all that surprising.
He was a shrewd business man, but also was surrounded by vultures in the later years of his life and had a serious drug addiction, not too dissimilar to Elvis.
As far as his legacy: his estate stands to be the most profitable in history. Outpacing Elvis’ 27 million dollars a year, whoe estae by the way, was also in shambles at the time of his death.
Online retailers have already sold out of his cd’s and brick and motar stores are doing the same. They have huge requests to ship more of his music as various countries are running low.
In death he will have the peace that alluded him in life.
Columnist Andrew Sullivan summed up Jackson’s life perfectly:
“There are two things to say about him. He was a musical genius; and he was an abused child. By abuse, I do not mean sexual abuse; I mean he was used brutally and callously for money, and clearly imprisoned by a tyrannical father. He had no real childhood and spent much of his later life struggling to get one. He was spiritually and psychologically raped at a very early age – and never recovered. Watching him change his race, his age, and almost his gender, you saw a tortured soul seeking what the rest of us take for granted: a normal life . . .
. . . Of course, he bears responsibility for his bizarre life. But the damage done to him by his own family and then by all those motivated more by money and power than by faith and love was irreparable in the end. He died a while ago. He remained for so long a walking human shell.”

Faith~call Neil deGrasse Tyson b/c we are beyond the vortex.
What Glen Said~any BET awards show is an Extravaganza of Pathology.
Regarding Joe Jackson, the Point’s Roberto Rivera may as well have speaking right at MJ’s father:
“I do want to say something about Roberto’s Rule #6: no minor child should ever be the principal source of support for his family. Period. Parents are intended by God, natural selection, the Tao, etc., to provide for their children until they can take care of themselves and not the other way around. Departing from this standard inevitably distorts the parent-child relationship to the detriment of everyone.
In some cases, like Jackson’s, the deleterious effects are obvious. In other cases, they’re (a lot) more subtle but just as real. In every instance, it’s a bad idea bordering on the abusive.”

Amen, brother.
Joe Jackson – by what I have heard from friends in Vegas – has longnot lived with Katherine – which is why the kids were granted to her custody and hers alone.. Joe is just being joe- as menitoned before – hes a leech who has been riding his kids coats for as long as he could.. in death why would you expect it to be any different.. He only looked sad at the BET awards for like four minutes.. The only two people I saw at the BET awards who seemed geninuely remorseful were Sherri sheppard, Neyo and I’ll give Beyonce credit all though she lost it again for the outfit she sang in.. and of course Janet who looke d like she wanted to curse out the whole auditorium…
Joe Jackson has always been jealous, posessive and abusive. I just hope he’s far away from those kids.
Oh my god! I hadn’t even seen that video. Lord help this man!
i love how everybody is blaming michaels father for all of his identity and other problems…did anyone ever think that for a young black boy growing up in hollywood, in the 50″s and 60″s surrounded by many of the worst stereotypes about black people, could have anything to do with his issues? do you really think all of those white entertainment industry people he was surrounded by just loved him for who he was and wanted to see him do his best? please, i think not. maybe they loved what he could do for them financially, but otherwise he was expendable.
this is not blaming race, but pointing out the reality of some aspects of america (before obama) and the entertainment industry. the man’s body hasn’t even gone cold and media outlets all over are saying all types of negative things about him, gloating in his demise. i’m sorry, but too many entertainers have been destroyed, vilified, and left paupers by the music industry to try to make michael’s issues all from his father. also, it’s common for entertainers to become addicted to narcotics and other substances – i personally believe the industry encourages it so that stars become cash cows with no power so greedy entertainment execs reap the financial benefits – ever seen an episode of VH-1 behind the music? it’s not just mike, and joe jackson wasn’t father to these other stars in similar situations. i mean, do you really think it was his father or other family members enabling him with drugs that helped to take away his life? obviously not. Joe jackson may not be the most likable person on earth, b ut gimme a break. he didnt destroy michael.
also, if you notice, all of joe and katherine jackson’s offspring seem to be polite, well mannered people – yes, they have issues, btu whose family doesn’t? theirs afe just magnified greatly. how did it become that just because someone had too many plastic surgeries its all the fault of dad or the parents? if that’s the case, that argument should be made for tons of americans, who are busy plasticizing and liposuctioning themselves away.
Micahel was a hero or like family to many, and i find it interesting that the media, even after being totally acquitted of all crimes, is trying so hard to demonize him – hmmmmm…it sounds to me that mike had a lot more people trying hard to sponge off of his successes and name, and trying to ruin him mentally, physically, and spiritually than his father, jesse jackson, or al sharpton.
I can’t believe any of you actually thought BET would do something totally classy-Come on ya’ll.
Well, I didn’t watch BET; I seldom watch it anyway, other than Sunday mornings, getting ready to go to church, watching a few gospel videos. I did catch Jamie Foxx’s “act”. I was not impressed.
However, let me say this; I’m sad at Bro. Michael’s passing, the Jackson 5 was one of several things that contributed to my personal and political growth. But I find myself becoming increasingly angry; clearly MJ was a very sensitive, talented man, but for all his challenges and problems, he has been enabled by many people inside and outside his family. I also for the first time saw pictures of his three children . . . 10, 15, 20 years from now we may learn some disturbing truths about him. When that happens, we will then have to face the fact if prescription drugs did contribute to his untimely death, it wasn’t just prescription drugs that killed him . . . .
The issue is Lena, not only did JOE not protect his children, HE thrust this one on the spotlight so that HE could enjoy the Hollywood glam life. JOE put that young black boy in Hollywood, JOE hung around those Hollywood types.
I believe the kids loved performing, but kids love pleasing their parents first and foremost.
******
I agree w/ what Fred posted. I realize that people go into the family business: Tatum O’Neal, Liza Minelli. But there is something perverted about a “man” or a “woman” living off the back of a child. Not only do you feed your family, you feed others’ families (managers, costumes, personal assistants…). And showbiz is a dirty business.
Michael lacked a non-business family relationship with most of his siblings (“childhood” anyone), hence he grafted on to those who had a similar experience: Liz Taylor, Brooke Shields…
LOL!!!!!!!

Just what I would expect from this individual.
As for MJ, I have conflicting opinions about him. My main issue is the dangling his son over the balcony railing incident. However, I will remember that he was an abused child, so that no doubt messed him up emotionally/mentally, but overall he seemed like a good guy. He was talented, that is for sure. A lot of his songs are very deep and memorable, while others are just plain good music. I also very much admire the charities he set up to help children.
RIP Michael Jackson.
