The folks in Dixville Notch in New Hampshire have already cast and counted their votes. For those of you who waited until election day to vote, either by law or by preference, you have my sincere sympathies. Take a folding chair, a box of Triscuits and some of those little Capri Sun fruit juice pouches, it may be a looong wait for you. I on the other hand shall be at the movies watching High School Musical 3 and The Secret Life of Bees.
Predictions- I don’t have any
I won’t even be answering the phone from nonrelatives today because for the past two days when I have stated emphatically, I DO NOT KNOW, folks have felt the need to keep me on the phone anyway discussing their predictions based on the polls. I mean literally running electoral college scenarios over the phone.
I believe that with a turnout this high that the accuracy of polls decreases significantly. Real Clear Politics has the race in a number of battleground states within or just outside of the margin for error. There is a reason why they call it “The Margin of Error.” Hope for the best, expect the worst.
My prediction is that DEMOCRATS will determine who wins. If a large number of disaffected Clinton supporters get their wishes, then McCain might carry Pennsylvania and then an Obama win in Virgina would be canceled out. That’s the extent of my electoral college analysis because doing a bunch of hand wringing and hypothetical at this point is futile. Let’s just sit back and relax, for as long as possible, and wait for the only poll numbers that matter to be counted.
I just hope that Wednesday morning, we will have a president elect and won’t be descending on Ohio, Florida, or who knows where fighting about hanging chads and exit polls.

We will be having a farewell podcast tonight at 9:30CST. Hopefully by then we will have some trends regarding how the presidential election results break down. There are also some propositions on some of the state ballots that might be interesting. You can listen in at www.blogtalkradio.com/blackwomen we’ll also have the chat going. Enjoy your R&R. I am going to just chill myself. No TV until tonite (tired of the onslaught of Jeremiah Wright ads airing in Ohio).
Wow Gina you got the day off! I voted, lines weren’t that bad. Part of me felt good b/c of racial solidarity reasons but a part of me felt sad, is this one of those 24-48 hour black unity moments?
Well, I voted. I was pleased to see how many minorities @ work turned out this election. It was good to see how many people in my small circle are voting for the first time.(?) I’m not sure if any unity will be long lived, but we can hope.
I waited in line for about 45 minutes. I got up bright and early and it wasn’t that bad. I am glad that people are getting out and voting.
The line at my polling location was nearly out the door before it even opened. Once it did, I was able to vote fairly quickly, considering. Naima, you said/wrote it; I hope this is indicative of potential change and not just a 24-48 “unity bug”. I’m going to try and enjoy the hope I see and feel today and pray that it carries over into the days to come. And I might have some whiskey.
You know what. Those disaffected spoiled racist white women can kiss my ass!! The world does NOT revolve around them and it’s high time they figured it out. When your Goddess tells you to move on and you still have beef then it’s YOUR problem!!!
They could have supported Shirley Chisholm when she ran, instead they went with a man, a white man. So we know where their loyalties lie.
Instead of complaining I’ve been out helping people show up to vote, offering assistance, water, a hand rub, a kind word WHATEVER was necessary. We have too much at stake to be dicking around.
I can see why you’d need a day off. I’m thrilled its finally over. This has been a toxic campaign season.
