I will continue to stand up for myself and other women, because I believe in women’s rights. Just yesterday I had to tell the security guard at my job to stop making comments of beating one of my co-workers. He found out her boyfriend hits on her, and he continually makes comments about causing harm to her person. Not only that but he even makes fun of her facial features or cracks on her dark skin. This is the type of male behavior made acceptable by women like you “Can’t We”, who seem to think as long as it doesn’t apply to me it is ok. It is not ok.

Both D.L. and Imus were in the wrong, and neither should be heard from period. It’s just that simple. Since they are being heard I have chosen to not listen to either one of them. I have also made it an issue to stand up to men and women who think it is funny and acceptable to downgrade black women. My mother is black and so are my sisters. My mother and my sisters are both natural women, as am I. Neither of us are nappy headed hos, and it is not something other black women and young girls need to hear.

I find it strange that there exists so much hatred for the very women who seem to be the only ones holding black communities together.

a cross section of men that are cowards, afraid to to be men and hiding behind their women, abandoning their children and blaming it on everyone but .. themselves of course. im not speaking of all brothers of course, but 2 damn many. the whole world can see that, and thats a big part of why so many people don’t respect us, not saying that racism doesn’t exist!

i stay out of it, i k now who i am, and i carry myself as a decent woman, my being black is an integral part of my being but its not my whole life, i respect those who respect me

CNN is in the ad sales business first and foremost.

D.L. Hughley is making folks laugh for money business. He is not a stupid man, nor ignorant for not having memorized the First Amendment.

As a former stand-up comedian myself, I found folks who resorted to misogynistic, racists and otherwise foul/insensitive jokes/material were, for the most part, lazy and uninspired.

I don’t disagree with the premise of the public shaming, but with comedians like D.L., the best offense is besting him on his own show.

Ultimately, his bread and butter will not be at the expense of Black women, it will be saying what most Americans are thinking, but have enough sense/discretion not to say out loud.

Our job — which Gina and others are valiantly already doing — is reminding these public figures that it is not worth the cost of messing with well organized, determined netizens who may expedite their obsolescence to their fickle corporate patrons.

Ryan: Are you a white person?

ME: Brother, marrying a black woman does not qualify a BM for a gold medal. Plenty of men marry women and then proceed to beat them, cheat on them, and kill them. Do those men “love” women?

Ryan: “He hates black people so much that he donated the most he could legally to Barack Obama’s campaign.”

ME: Again, donating money (isn’t that maximum amount less than $100? lol) to Obama doesn’t mean you love blacks. I hope you’re not naive enough to believe that whites who support Obama suddenly love all black people. News flash: many celebrities give money or support causes for one of several reasons: it gives them a higher public profile, more publicity, tax write-offs, AND it hides the REAL dirt that they are doing to the people. The pros call that “public relations”.

Ryan: “It is you with your fake trumpt up ’scandals’ that are what is wrong with black america. Because instead of focusing on real issues like poverty rates, illiteracy, obesity, and unfair laws which disproportionately affect black people, you are focusing all of your energy and attention on HATING. Lets call it what it is.”

ME: No, my brother, it’s not called “hating”; it’s called respecting ourselves and holding these ignorant entertainers accountable for the damage they do to black people. Nobody hates a “loser” who is willing to be paid money just to do the white supremacists in the media’s work. You tell me the difference between these “chitlin” jokes of people like DL and David Alan Grier, and the old minstrel shows where blacks told the same jokes about black people. (do your research and you’ll see what i mean).

Ryan: “You are the same people who hate that fact the Mr. Hughley has a show but trust that the minute it gets cancelled, God forbid, you will be the first people to blame CNN for racism.”

ME: say what? Heck no, i will CELEBRATE. I know a good thing when i see it and trust me, the show won’t last much beyond the election. As a matter of fact that may be why it was created. The timing kinda makes you go hmm…

Ryan: “When did we lose our sense of humor? When did it become that we had to waste our energy fighting such little battles when there are much bigger ones ahead? I for one am ashamed of each and everyone of you. You are all the crabs in the barrel pulling other blacks down with you.”

ME: There’s a difference between having a sense of humor and NO SENSE AT ALL. We should be ashamed of what? For posting our opinion? For standing up for our black women? For not supporting a negro who demeaned eight young black girls on national TV in front of millions of white people?

Do you have a mother? Sisters? Aunts? A daughter? A wife? I do, and they’re all black females. I will never apologize for defending them. The problem is there are too many black males who are willing to look the other way when black females are degraded, and perhaps, their defense of other black males who do this, speaks more to THEIR OWN dislike of black women or some other sexual issues…

Believe me, the white man who runs the CNN network would NOT allow DL Hughley to succeed off the degradation of white women. Believe that.
