I’m Live Blogging Obama and McCain at Saddleback Civil Forum in “Joint Appearance” LIVE Right now!

This forum was so good, I had to live blog it!

Since I am watching this, I thought you might want to watch as well. Rick Warren is hosting a forum with Barack Obama and John MCcain at the Saddleback Church. This is the first joint appearance. You can watch it live in many places, bu I am enjoying the Reader’s Digest live video stream.
From CSPAN:

For the first time, presumptive presidential nominees Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will appear in back-to-back sessions before the same audience when they address the Saddleback Civil Forum. Founder & Pastor Rick Warren is expected to ask questions on their interpretations of the Constitution.

I watched the show live last night. I suspected that McCain was given the questions beforehand. However, when he attempted to answer questions that had not been asked by Warren, it became clear that he was briefed.

McCain did not answer one question outright. He was campaigning the entire time. I don’t recall if Warren asked McCain not to give a stump speech, but he sure asked Obama.

I’m an Obama supporter, not an acolyte–a term I find offensive, and I was willing to be open-minded about the event. However, I walked away half way into McCain’s session, thoroughly convinced that McCain was prepped.

My husband says it doesn’t matter because McCain was basically “preaching to the choir.” I say it does matter, because it shows you that organized religion is going to be the downfall of us all. I believe in separation of church and state, and that farce last night only reinforced my belief ten-fold.

I watched not once but three times. Each time I felt he was prepped. I am not brainwashed or entrenched for either party. I do not believe Obama came prepared. I stated throughout the week that his surfing was going to take him off course and he was underestimating this meeting between the two. McCain is viewed as an underdog at this point. Just like the Clinton’s under estimated the underdog at the time, Obama. I think Obama camp maybe going down that same line of thinking. IMHO
