Hillary Clinton Open Thread

Watching Hillary from blogger lounge beneath the convention floor.

Hillary soaking it all in. FYI convention staff hands out the signs to the audience.

Yall are’t watching this in real time. CNN’s broad cast is on a 15 second delay or so.

Hillary pays tribute to Stephanie Tubbs Jones. Jone’s son sitting next to Bill.

Hillary’s “Were you in it just for me.” line went over well in the blogger lounge.

Why are Black folks clowning in the audience? Giving the stank eye and refusing to stand up. Michelle Obama looks stunning in that yellow and the updo. fab.u.lous.

I am doing this live blog completely on my phone. Left the laptop at home.

Hillary’s quip about McCain and Bush meeting in the Twin cities is appropriate because they are hard to tell apart drew raucus applause in the blogger lounge.

Oh snap!!!! Hillary just quoted Harriet Tubman. She is bringing it tonight!

I don’t care what you accolytes. Hillary Clinton Brought it!!! That was a GREAT SPEECH!!!!! The Twins Cities line, Harriet Tubman, asking if her supporters were in it just for her… That was an amazing speech. Join me on the podcast to talk about this. 6464784750.

Maybe I’m missing something, but so far I’m not excited by Hillary’s speech. She’s about 10 minutes in and I got up to get popcorn. Oh, was I supposed to write that out loud? I know I’m amongst friends. Maybe Michelle can crack just one smile during the speech. They keep panning to her in hopes of catching something.
Keep up the great work. it’s been great reading your info throughout this week. I so regret not being there.
Loved the support for Congressman Tubbs-Jones, though. Her energy will be sorely missed.

okay. Michelle just managed a grin when her name was mentioned right after I hit send on the first message. still no teeth, though.

“Why are Black folks clowning in the audience? Giving the stank eye and refusing to stand up.”

It’s like we don’t understand that some people will use those reactions as excuses not to vote for Obama (or any other black candidate).

I hate to think of the number of voters put off by Obama acolytes.

I blame it on their youth. They don’t remember by how few votes Al Gore lost by.

Anyhoo.

Obama supporters love to say that he hasn’t won yet…that’s correct, he hasn’t won yet and he’s going to need every vote he can get. Bringing those 18 million voters over to his side isn’t Senator Clinton’s responsibility, it lies with him…and his supporters.

Giving her the side-eye on national TV ain’t going to win any votes.

I’m just saying.

Actually, I also thought Hillary did exceptionally well, tonight. I guess as a black woman, I feel like I can support Obama and vote for Obama and be excited about what the future holds WITHOUT thinking I need to be his water carrier. If I make any comment that implies he’s human, I stand to lose my black card in my community. Maybe the black folk in the audience, doubted Clinton’s sincerity. Maybe, Hillary didn’t glow enough when she spoke Obama’s name. After all, Chris Matthews (is this man married) said he felt a shiver up his leg when Obama spoke.

Sen. Clinton spoke well. Her speech covered many areas. She was on point, clever and inspiring. What more could she do? Nothing. No more is required of her. She was very clear about her loyalities; about the Democratic goals and about the horror of 4 more years of McCain/Bush. Well done Senator Clinton. You continue to make Americans proud!

Obama supporter have to get it together and start to think long. While they are clowining their fellow delegates they fail to realize that these aren’t just voters, their canvassers, precinct captains, fundraisers. This isn’t all about votes, but the army you will need to assemble to defeat John McCain.

I know why those pumas (or whatever they’re called) are mad. Obama treated them, LIKE I WOULD HAVE, like ticks on a hound dog. He ignored them for as long as he could, and then he shook them off altogether. Unfortunately, elections aren’t won like this.

His supporters have gotten the INCORRECT notion that it’s alright to ignore, poo poo, and insult these people and then attempt to present a united front to the public. That doesn’t appear to be working, either.

Sure, we can say go ahead and get over it…but they’re not getting over it. So, I think either a new strategy is in order or go ahead and see McSame as our next president. Hillary’s supporters have DEFINITELY been sore losers. But, some Obama supporters have been sore winners, which at times can be worse.

Yme who are THEY??? Don’t believe everything you see and read in mainstream media. Trust me that the news media is going looking for the most rabid CLinton supporters that they can find to put on display.

#12 Yme on 08.27.08 at 6:58 am

I work with a few Clinton supporters. They aren’t rabid, but they are quite mad. In a phrase, they think the DNC worked harder to “look after” Obama than they did for Clinton – basically, that the DNC realized they had two historical candidates and decided the female was safer to ignore. /

Is it a logical conclusion? I don’t think so. But, I didn’t have to look very hard to find them. In truth, I’m simply saying Obama doesn’t have a “spare” 1/5 to give to McCain or a few to lose because they sat at the house.

If he wants the big house, he needs to smooth a few feathers. My grandfather would say simply, suck it up & get it done.

Ahhh I thought that the Clinton hit the nail on the head and was absolutely great!

“By following the example of a brave New Yorker,a woman who risked her life to shepherd slaves along the Underground Railroad.

And on that path to freedom, Harriett Tubman had one piece of advice.

If you hear the dogs, keep going.

If you see the torches in the woods, keep going.

If they’re shouting after you, keep going.

Don’t ever stop. Keep going.

If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.

Even in the darkest of moments, ordinary Americans have found the faith to keep going”

I just stood up and began clapping

This morning I was listening to the”Joe Madison Show” and most of callers offered mostly negative comments. This scares me. I think that those who continue with the attitude of “she was nasty towards our boy so we ain’t got to show this hussies no respect” are the ones who will ended hurting their “boy”.

Many of these folks have to be newbies to political game so I will offer this great quote from the IAF (where Obama was an organizer).

“In politics there are no permanent friends or permanent enemy’s only permanent interest” Right now the interest is to not get McCain elected.
